  1. I have both and I so nearly agree with you... so light and pointy. Just the range you get with heavy ammo in the MWS makes it my go to RIF.
  2. Now for the big question... does anyone have any idea when they're likely to be available? I'm just hoping that it's not TM timing.... I.e. with us fairly soon.
  3. Same here... plus that GBB Saiga is stunning too... so many rif's this year.....
  4. So surprisingly I haven't seen much chatter about this, but finally the AKM is up on their website which hopefully means a batch will arrive in the uk fairly soon... I'll be interested to see how it compares to the other GBB AK's on the market. (I must admit that I am not particularly a Kalashnikov aficionado but this is very tempting.) If it performs half as well as their MWS System it should be very skirmishable. https://www.tokyo-marui.co.jp/products/gas/machinegun/486
  5. Not at all. I agree that teching spring or gas rifles is great fun. And a scout sniper role is actually a really fun way to play, especially if you're rolling with a small group of people. @HuttArmouries has done a great summary, what I will comment on is that the TM L96/AWM and it's clones along with the VFC/ASG M40A3 have a fin type loading system that is liable to breaking or jamming. Probably my top suggestions would be the SRS, VSR or Ares striker for spring or the VFC M40A5 for a gas rifle. Similarly the Cyma CM700/701/702 series are worth a look at too. I think sniper mechanic did some blog posts on them too.
  6. Yep fire support do them... They work on AEGs too. You don't necessarily need to use them, just some rails need them. Barrel Shims
  7. So with the 5ku barrel you don't need an adapter. At least I don't with an angry gun rail, just needed a few shims under the barrel nut to tighten it up nicely. (Sometimes it does need some light sanding but not always.) For the record a PTS adapter also works to fit most AEG type front rails onto the standard Marui barrel. Again the angry gun rail on the original standard mws outer barrel for me. I hope that that makes helps. Having said that I haven't had any direct experience with fitting an Area handguard.
  8. No worries... The answer is probably possibly... Tbh it's worth just using a chrono if you have one and checking your FPS consistency...
  9. Quite possibly... Tbh I'd be happy with 56... But then I always refil gas and BBS at the same time. I'll leave it to someone more knowledgeable to chip in there ...
  10. That is strange, I only have v1 mags unfortunately so I couldn't say your best course of action. Yeah I just stop filling when the hissing disappears. I'm not sure what could be causing you to vent so much gas though...
  11. That sounds like you're not putting enough gas in. With the silent fill mod I'd ignore the 12 second thing as that will be gas dependent and also depend on how much gas was in there to start with. Instead listen to the gas going into mag. Literally ear next to the can as you're filling listen to the quiet hiss. That will give you an actual idea of how long it's going to take... The other thing is how full your can of green gas is. It's worth remembering that these mags can hold A LOT of gas compared to the volume of the gas can...
  12. For delivery I've used airsoft world before... Reasonably cheap if you do a bulk order (they do discounts)
  13. I use a guns modify ambi selector and it works ok. Not the crispest action bit it functions well enough...
  14. Yeah, no bolt catch... The only way you know that you're out is the deadmans click as the striker hits empty air... Tokyo Marui have done a really nice job there on that.
  15. @alxndrhllI definitely agree it is possibly the oddest business model but I guess you can get away with a lot when you have a good product and consistent QC
  16. There is a special tool that fits over the barrel and slides inside the handguard to do up the barrel nut... Same as the real steel. It's quite a neat design really, just not cheap to reproduce. Having said that, whilst the upper is fairly expensive, the full kit is actually an ok ish price, although still expensive. Considering the very low quantities they actually make them in I'd say it's a decent price. It's certainly not a small bit of machining as you say. If I did a batch of 10 through the suppliers I use at work I would expect to pay about £750 per receiver and that's not including anodising or design time which also adds up really quickly...
  17. Unfortunately not... The width is a little bit different so you would need to make a spacer for the mag release... I think ATRG did a blog on how to do that though so it can be done with some modifications. Edit: Here is the link to the blog post I mentioned
  18. For me it's a general lack of S&W pistols besides the really rare WA ones... Something like the 5906 for example... But it's unlikely to ever happen unfortunately.
  19. Yes and no. They are reasonably stiff and come in a variety of lengths however they are also two part assemblies so make sure the grub screws are tightened up and loctighted... Don't make the mistake I did and send the outer barrel flying mid fire fight 😅
  20. I've asked firesupport to order some in and they've said they'll be with them within a few weeks. Personally I'm after them as part of my impression build as they seem to be the first good P-mags and they have been used by SF guys. The round count is the same as my TM mp7 so not a massive difference really, but the much larger gas chamber *may* help with cool down if you like full auto. I'll probably stick a full review up when I get my hands on some.
  21. FRV slings are reasonable for the price, but the webbing is only 1" which isn't actually that comfortable. But that's just my experience. The plus side is that the hardware is reasonable. Although there are better out there. Can I ask how often you actually use your sling? (Since I use mine a lot I went for a magpul MS3, alternatively Andy at TacbeltsUK on IG does good way of the gun slings at a very reasonable price.)
  22. So I notice that g&p have released an extended P-Mag for the MWS.... Has anyone managed to test one, and if so how does it compare to the other P-mags out there for consistency? https://shop.jkarmy.com/g-p-g-mag-long-ver-for-marui-tm-mws-gbbr-system-black-magazine-p-mag-style.html
  23. Tbh I'd just buy am off the shelf unit and only change the tubes if absolutely necessary. I don't think that building your own is actually that cost effective unfortunately, especially as tubes often have a big markup on them anyway. Yeah I just live with the helmet and use it for CQB and night ops as it also has my earpro attached to it. Although mine is a repro opscore maritime helmet that weighs an awful lot less than an actual ballistic helmet.
  24. The age of the tube is a factor, but you should be able to at least get a video through from the seller before hand which will give you an idea on what it looks like. The thing with tubes is that each one is effectively unique as they are very thin layers of phosphor so you will see blemishes and light/dark patches on most tubes and will also have them from new potentially. Generally though an older/worn out tube just means poor resolution or a dim image which should be fairly obvious. Swapping tubes on the other hand is a bit more involved, although arguably easier than teching an AEG, it just needs to be done carefully and then potentially purged with nitrogen which is the hard part I expect. Helmet options is a different matter entirely and my knowledge of Russian helmets is non existent at best, I use Wilcox (repro) just because it's simple and really easy to use. The helmet you mentioned has a shroud on it so you'd just need to find the compatible mount and a suitable J-arm and you should be good to go. I'm just not sure what the Russian standard mount is like unfortunately. Oh and definitely a helmet over a night cap or skull crusher any day... It's just much more stable.
