Beware If Buying From Novritch Now If You Live in UK
Rogerborg replied to Nuttycapri's topic in Places to Buy
Ouch, sorry to hear that. It was brought to my attention that FOB airsoft are flogging Nov rifs and parts in the UK at the moment. No Flecktarn mankinis or whatever you ordered though. https://www.ukfob.co.uk/Novritsch-Airsoft -
And I lull myself to sleep with this image. I will never not be amused by people asserting that you have to fit a mosfet to protect your £4.50 trigger contacts.

Only in the reverse-snobbish sense of wanting to be clear that I'm not playing with a TM NGRS or small-bore-paintball-marker. I have thrown on a silencer just for looks a couple of times, but mostly because it was in the bag and idle hands are the speedsofter's devil's workshop. I'm strongly in the camp of play over pay, although I have made a couple of mistakes - I'm looking at you, AEP. Dropping a whopping £140 on the cheapest metal bodied Specna Arms Edge was uncharted territory for me, it was like the start of 2001 when the Monolith showed up.

Should be fine, there are no surprises in the G&Gs, and they don't have notably weak gearboxes. The thing is, you can do most those things to a 1.1J AEG and get most of the benefits. The only actual DMR things about it are the spring and locking to semi, and it's a matter of some debate whether this is worth the trade off. I'm enjoying my Specna Arms based DMR (until the gearbox inevitably cracks...) but that's shooting at 1.8J and even then it's not got a huge amount of extra range over an auto gun. I'm scrupulous about sticking to MEDs and one-in-the-air, although I know some DMR players are... less so. I'd suggest keeping the stock spring and selector plate handy in case you want to swap it back again. The one downside I'd point out to using the G&G is that it doesn't have a quick change spring.

Well, to be a bit more serious, that's what I'm doing. 20+ miles rather than a wobble to the shops and back, and I'm trying not to keep it in Easy Mode all the time. I'll need to keep doing stationary cycling as well though. Snap, I've been out with a mad keen road biker chum that I'd been putting off riding with because I reckoned I couldn't keep up. Now he leads on the flat or downhill, and I cheat my way up the inclines, it's all good. It's an oft-abused phrase, but e-bikes really are a game changer. Just not ideal for fat losers, perhaps.

Has Km Cheated the Chrono at Anzio?
Rogerborg replied to Cromulon1994's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Might have been "unbanned" though. I hope not, there really should be consequences for promoting punishment shots, plus his faked hit markers and "OMG cheetar!" drama both of which are (an over-used but apt word) toxic to the hobby. -
A solution presents itself in three words... Horny. Moon. Princesses.

Wise words indeed. I vanished from here (and Failbook) during the previous mass-criminalisations because I had no inclination to talk about something that I wasn't actively doing. It's easy to slip into a fantasy world of misrecollections and imagination if you're not out testing your theories under fire. -
Beats me, I don't do Fortnum and Mason brands, but certainly better than a Tornado F1 aftermarket motor. @Sitting Duck rated the M140 and M160s. I've had three so far (2 x M140, 1 x M160), all with strong magnets. One of the M140s had enough inny-outy play in the shaft that I felt compelled to pop another 0.1mm shim under the end, but other than that, all good.

That's where PMR446 radios come in. They're generally very simple, just pick a channel out of 16 and push-to-talk. On all but the most basic you can select a CTCSS "sub channel", but realistically at a typical airsoft site you won't have to, just switch to another channel if you get cross-talk. They are fun and add another aspect to the LARPing, but consider the difficulty in communicating with or inspiring fellow airsofters even when they're in the same foxhole.

The only thing funnier than friendly-frag is medic-and-double-friendly-frag. Have you seen the latest teaser from the Depot's Facebook page? 12th September is being whispered, no idea where yet though or if it'll be a mates-only trial game.

+1 to this. I always brought a dump-pouch full of assorted torches to the big, dark indoor Depot CQB site to light up doors and stairwells and draw fire. It was actually kind of exploity, and I was happy to move them once a victim had cried foul.

Intriguing. 2W is way over the PMR 0.5W limit, and there's no reason that you couldn't build something usable at that price given that the mind-bogglingly well featured UV-5R comes in at just a bit more for a pair. They could be a peach or a lemon, you'd have to take a gamble to find out. I'd see if there are any Amazon reviews for those or equivalents. If you do push the boat out a little, the UV-5Rs are great, and favourites with sites. They are decent out of the box with good range, long battery lives and more features than you could ever use (I use mine as an FM radio to play the bangin choons of Smooth FM) However, that's actually a downside of them. You can make them talk to just about anything, but the interface is unintuitive and I'm forever forgetting how to (e.g.) set CTCSS sub-channels on them. Something simpler might actually be an asset.

While simping for the rest of your post, I would take slight issue with this. Precock would be awesome for CQB where every femtosecond can matter to trading off with Oberleutnant Overkill, but for a gun with a 25-30m med, which only has an advantage over an autogun at 50m+, I'd say that it's less important as you're only going to be hitting stationary or moving-towards-you targets anyway. I mean, I'd love pre-cock on any of my toys, but I can't think of many DMR shots I've taken where it would have made a difference to real hits that I could actually have made if only I hadn't had that extra 50 milliseconds of spin up time.

I'll hitch up a rickshaw to my old non-electric bicycle and you can peddle me around.

Fanboi is a perfectly valid gender, don't be a bigot. I first realised that I was in love with him and would be his waifu when he disclosed that he puts a piece of misinformation into every video just to mess with people who blindly follow advice. Although that itself is likely to be misinformation. I suspect that's a shout-out to Meccano, which had a deliberate error in every set of instructions so that you had to work it out for yourself, as is right and proper. -

Only people who are wrong though. I was interested to note that Luke has a day job and isn't reliant on running a site or teching to pay the mortgage. I rather suspect that this is what allows him to be so generous with time and parts. -
Admission, I was doing so well with the cycling, then I bought an electrically assisted pedal cycle about a month back.

I may just have been unlucky with mine, I've seen plenty of good reviews and a few decent examples. It still works, just not with the same efficacy as others that I've seen. In very CQB the spread isn't an issue, although I would prefer a lighter and more discrete trigger pull. All that said, I still quite often pull it out of the bag at the end of the day when things have quietened down a bit.
-
You'll want to cross your fingers. My CYMA tri-shot hops one barrel fully and the other two randomly or not at all. Arguments that this creates a "spread" don't hold much water as at close range I don't need it, and at long range it spreads more than I want it. However, a chap pulled a similar CYMA out at the range the other week and was getting a beautiful head / groin sized cluster out of it at woodland ranges. It was slightly over-hopping 0.25g and would likely have been spot on with 0.28g, which is what my "good" barrel prefers. Both of mine (CYMA, ASG Franchi with no effective hop) need a good old haul on the trigger, which somewhat obviates the benefit of a pre-cocked gun. They're great fun though, and there's a real feeling of satisfaction when you get a hit from energy that you've put in. Top tip for cocking a pistol-grip shottie is to push the grip and gun forward, rather than pulling the pump backwards. Same effort, but a more effective use of your muscles.

Because he mocks them mercilessly and accurately, see his latest Skyler video. From the little I've seen of Reddit, it isn't a community, it's a cleared space in the forest floor where peacocks strut and display. On giving advice, I'm actually quite loathe to do it since it would be better for someone like @Sitting Duck to share what he knows versus what worked for me once. It's a quandary, if people only post when they really, really know what they're talking about, then all forums and groups would be pretty lonely and empty. Then you can go the other way with Reddit and particularly Facebook when someone ask "wut am bests..." and all you get is a vomitous tide of "WUT I JUTS BORT!!!" assertions without context, nuance, evidence or any real experience with the alternatives. -
That's an absolutely horrifying idea which I could not possibly advocate even though I've done it several times.
-
Stock motors are sad motors. I've had three Big Dragon motors (or rather "mortors") from Ali Express now, two M140s and an M160 for a DMR, and they've decently strong-fast for the money.

Hells Airsoft Derby - Weeknight CQB
Rogerborg replied to loctez's topic in Skirmish Sites, Stories & Reviews
Thanks for the review. I've now gone off down a rabbithole learning about rubber chippings, which do seem to be plagued with dust to the point where some sellers claim to be dust-free (and I guess some don't), and one even gives away as much free dust as you can eat. https://www.espsupplies.co.uk/sport/rubber-chippings/ https://re-bound.co.uk/free-rubber-dust-powder/ -
It is baffling. I can actually understand (if not agree with) dropping that much on a rare RIF, even if it's a wall hanger. But on an obvious toy that will shoot much the same as CYMA AK, no, I don't get it.
