  1. The honourable thing to do would be send the payment back to TG. Its situations like this that convince them not to sell to UK anymore...
  2. Be aware that the bolt pull is used to cock the spring so can be quite tough. MUCH harder to pull than a real bolt action. Would be worth trying one in a shop if you can. If that is a problem then an electric rifle (AEG) will be much better and you can still have fun trying to hit a target ๐Ÿ˜‰
  3. As with others, eyepro determines height but generally as low as possible. I do prefer using irons more tho. Clearer sight picture. Its funny when people spend more on the optic than the RIF ๐Ÿ˜†
  4. Yeah, fogging is one of the constant problems in airsoft (as well as non hit takers ๐Ÿ˜) There are a few anti-fog solutions you can try from Revision wipes to CatCrap but there doesn't seem to be an overall solution. Mesh does have a certain risk but I've seen lots of people use them without problems. I use mesh but have glasses underneath which works great. I prefer the wire (A) versions rather than sheet with holes (B). The wire type is easier to see through and I think it has slight flex which would reduce the chances of BBs shattering. (A) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (B) Any game will be as fun as you make it. Fast attacks and aggressive advances can bring tactical advantages but expect to be lit up and do a lot of walking back to spawn ๐Ÿ˜‰ Just play as you want.
  5. Welcome mate. First thing to do before any shopping is LOTS of reading ๐Ÿ˜ There are several threads on this forum about starting in airsofting and avoiding costly mistakes.
  6. For single rifle this is good https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283058925351?hash=item41e7a06f27:g:BFkAAOSwueldX5Pc
  7. Had a game last weekend and spoke to some rental guys who both had full face masks. Hopefully they're well cleaned. Not as safe but they're your eyes... ๐Ÿ™„
  8. You're welcome of course. Yeah, the noise of AEGs did put me off when I first got into it but you get used to it I guess. You can hear when they sound nice and poppy rather than grinding or whining. Almost all pistols use gas and are a lot of fun to use. They also have problems in Winter of course. Electric ones (AEP) are OK for short range and don't have cold problems but just not as fun. You can get Co2 ones but they are more expensive to run and can be too powerful to use. Its legal for your friend to lend or even sell you an airsoft rifle or pistol without UKARA. Just don't let the public see it. This includes neighbours so may be best to explain to them before using in a garden.
  9. Hi and welcome. Sounds like you've got quite a bit of gear you can repurpose already ๐Ÿ‘ Make sure the goggles are enclosed and a decent make. The face protection you linked looks a bit expensive and not very comfortable to me. I use THIS myself. Get good ankle support boots too. Yeah, GBBRs are fun to use and the most realistic plastic BB flingers in airsoft BUT they do have some downsides. - They are expensive and don't have any range advantage over cheaper AEGs - Having to buy gas is more expensive - Making them consistent firing can be a pain. Cleaning and maintenance is very important because the moving parts are more exposed. Parts wear faster than AEGs. - Winter can make them problematic to use. Gas does not expand enough to provide operating pressure when cold. You can get higher pressure gas to compensate but still can be problematic. - Magazines are much more expensive than AEG (electric) versions. - Magazines are much heavier than AEG versions. - But the big drawback is limited ammo. A typical gas mag holds around 30 BBs but an AEG hi-cap can hold over 300 in a single mag. You can reload mags but that means carrying spare BBs AND gas so not something practical under fire. In a fight against someone with an AEG you can use up all your BBs and gas and they'll keep shooting you. Even if you conserve ammo by only using single shots they can spray you with auto fire bursts for longer. Some people do use GBBRs but having experience is important to get the most out of them and not get discouraged by the limitations. MilSim games are more suited to GBBR use and they are more common.
  10. Welcome Sounds like you're off to a good start ๐Ÿ‘
  11. Welcome Paul Same questions as above ๐Ÿ˜ (For skirmish or just plinking in garden?) I have the Well MB01 (L96) and it seems to work well out of the box. I only use it for plinking in the garden at about 20m. I don't think it would be powerful enough for an actual skirmish. Because snipers rely on single shots they need to be accurate and long range which are two things very hard to achieve in airsoft. This means you'll need to spend a lot of time and money to make something work well otherwise you'll get frustrated as so many others before you. If you are not registered with UKARA you will have to get one that is painted a bright colour. I would suggest to get a green one and cover it with camo mesh as real snipers do.
  12. Specifically regarding international purchases: I've never had site membership so I can't comment on that but for importing into UK I'd rather use a UKARA number because that's the most common identifier for customs officers to recognise. This is why many Eastern retailers have a specific entry for the UKARA number.
  13. Yeah, granted it may not be a written rule but I would think most sites would accommodate a player renewing, especially after the recent difficulties. If not I'd suggest to find another site ๐Ÿค” I certainly wouldn't risk importing with an expired UKARA.
  14. I guess it makes sense that the heavier the recoil the less it will last ๐Ÿ™„
  15. You don't need to do 3 games to get UKARA renewed. Talk to the site you got it and ask to renew. (You'll have to pay ยฃ10 or so) You may have to do one game there but that's it.
  16. Welcome Duzum, It doesn't have to cost an arm & leg to get into but of course it depends how far you jump into the shredder ๐Ÿ˜ My 2p worth adding to what Brophy said... 1) Yes, it is a bit more costly to rent first but it will save you lots in the long run. It'll help you get a feel for the game and what gun style you'll want. M4, AK, long, short, etc. And you'll certainly get to try other weapons people have. If you buy anything before having UKARA it will be painted a bright colour (two-tone) If you then want to get rid of it, it will be worth less and harder to sell. - AEG definitely the easiest and arguably most effective system. You can get AEGs with recoil for more realistic feel but obviously more expensive. - Gas is the most realistic in operation and feel but more expensive to purchase and run. Can be problematic in Winter. But the big downside is you can't carry as much ammunition as an AEG with high capacity magazines. You will be at a disadvantage in a firefight. Gas guns (GBBRs) are more practical in a MilSim game where there is more emphasis on realism and more people use them. - Co2 From my experience with a Co2 pistol. Expensive to run (including fixing leaks). Can't top-up on gas when low. Often shoot hot and hard to adjust power. To me not worth the hassle. - No experience of HPA but not a fan because some get into it for stupid rates of fire ๐Ÿ™„ 2) Outdoor (woodland) uses more tactics and teamwork. Allows for a wider range of gameplay from camping sniper (hate em ๐Ÿ˜), sneaky assaults to full on charges. Not tried indoors (CQB) yet but from videos it looks fun though seems to often be starwars style shooting down corridors in stalemate. Faster gameplay with more emphasis on sprinting to get advantageous positions. 3) Check HERE then look up reviews of places near you.
  17. I was considering a BOLT but my research on recoils brought me to THIS Out of curiosity, anyone tried one to compare? I found one for a good price at Bespoke and the recoil seems amazing to me but I haven't been able to compare to a BOLT or TM. It has a different impulse to my GBBRs of course but its almost more violent to the point that I'm wondering how long it will last ๐Ÿค” Unfortunately they're hard to find now.
  18. We're still waiting for the S&T Enfield ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜
  19. Its just as likely that the chrono was inaccurate. Went to a site where they had two chrono's which read 50 fps different ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I had an AEG which was slightly hot and left it half cocked (spring compressed) to see if I could get it down by 10-15fps. I tested every couple of weeks and it did eventually work but had to keep it like that for about six weeks. Its true that a low quality spring may deform more quickly.
  20. Yeah, forget basic etiquette, that's below normal human.
  21. Its printed wrong because it would be the same the other way up ๐Ÿ˜†
  22. That seems fine to me. I actually prefer when a message is short and to the point. I'd like to know what they want first rather than their name, where they saw the advert and a list of random things.
  23. Don't worry this'll be short ๐Ÿ˜‰ Another good day at Skirmish Wycombe. They do shortish 20-30 minute games usually capture & defend with the roles switched for the following game. There is some interesting terrain and varied structures which makes capturing and defending a bit more interesting. 4 marshals for about 60 players. They are a bit young so don't know how well they'd handle a difficult player. Luckily the times I've played there I haven't seen too much cheating. Lunch is VERY good and they cater to special requirements. Decent airsoft shop and tuck shop. Haven't tried the toilets but they are in a proper cabin.
  24. Another fun (tiring) day at Skirmish Wycombe ๐Ÿ‘
