Welcome ✋ Have a look HERE for sites near you. The usual advice is to rent for your first 3 games so you can then be registered with a UKARA number. (So you can buy realistic black toys Ooh-Er) it will give you a taste for the sport before spending too much money on toys and other things. You'll be able to meet others and ask questions. You'll be able to see shooty toys that other use to get a better idea what you'll want. ...and of course do LOADS of reading here on the forum as most questions have been answered so its just a case of searching 😉

Its sad that our education system is under left influence but there is no gain trying to fight them directly. As stated by many above, its best to engage with the head and explain the situation calmly.

I do wish AEGs had a decock feature to make sure they're not stored with the spring compressed.

I have not seen that advice anywhere. There's a reason why ALL airsoft gearboxes use an ARL. Without it the gears will damage the piston rack and cause BB feed problems. I've seen some comments say you can use active breaking instead but this will burn out the motor very quickly.

Welcome ✋ That helmet link is far too expensive. Just search "fast helmet" and choose the cheapest option you like. As Emergenychimp said, a helmet isn't really necessary but can save your nogin from freak accidents like scratches from low branches or falling against a structure. Its much more important to get good eye protection and boots with ankle support.

Welcome back ✋ Yeah, the bug never completely goes away 😉 Do a few searches for starter guns/gear as the market may have changed quite a bit since you last looked. Check out HERE for any sites near you.

Welcome ✋ Good starter guns can be had from CYMA and SpecnaArms for around £150. Most guns around that price are decent enough to start with but I would stay away from Nuprol stuff in general. Yeah, there are loads of posts about first starter guns and kit in general. Keep some budget for decent boots with ankle support and eye protection. ( would suggest to look at posts about the best eye-pro) You'll get the hang of things soon enough 😉 Don't worry about age since you can play at your own pace. (I know players in 60s and 70s that play) But don't expect to stick with your son 😄
