    Bloody nice kit! I am always amazed at those side mounted scopes. These days we use lasers and colorimeters to align a scope dead centre. Back then they actually designed the things to be 1 1/2" out. Would have made for some complicated ballistics data.

    Depends what you mean by advanced. If you want something that shoots better than what you have now, it may well mean upgrading whatever you buy. If you want something better quality build wise than a cheapy then LCT and E&L do score well. It might be worth getting a tech to work on the rifle you have now, and upgrading the lot, although you may end up with a rifle that will never sell for anything like what it cost to build. My 'best' rifle, a full steel, etu, mosfet equipped L85 is also the least reliable out of the box and shoots OK. My CYMA M14s shoot bloody well out of the box, are bulletproof reliability wise and once tuned shoot silly well, whilst being lighter and less than a third of the price. Tuned they still cost way less than half. Not trying to make things complicated for you mate. Just pointing out that the worlds your oyster for rifs these days.

    No M203 to hand unfortunately. I think he added a bipod and FT wind direction arm before I stuck the final pic on an FB airsoft group. It took some po faced humourless sod about 0.0000005 seconds to explode at the result.

    You can buy them from pets shops for cleaning fish tanks. As said above, lack of pressure hinders them. When I rode bikes for a living, I often advised the new lads to wipe the inside of their visor with a raw onion.

    Went out with my serviced and cleaned AK, only to fall over a tree root 10 mins into the game. I was a pretty good gymnast in the mists of time, so controlling a fall is fairly easy, but... I managed to snag my free foot on something else too as I fell. THUD. Busted the rear sight, split the top housing in front of the (now displaced) dust cover, and the battery compartment bottom cracked. I hit the floor hard enough to dislodge a contact lens. I honestly thought that I'd broken my big (arthritic) toe, but it moved after a few minutes of laying still and therapeutically swearing. Rifle still fed OK and shot straight so on we went. Played OK too. First game damage I've inflicted on a CYMA. I doubt an all steel build would have been damaged, but I doubt I'd find one for less than £70 on TG. I'll have to get the gaffer tape and cable ties out I expect. If it's serious the Jubilee clips come out too, possibly the superglue. Bloody good day out mind!

    Had to clean the hop rubber in my CM.028u.  The lad got a bit liberal with the silicone oil...

     

    Bloody palaver compared to an M4, managed to crack the housing round the tiny screw that holds the underside of the battery compartment/dust cover holder/slide.  Only needed a washer to make good, and probably could have got away without using one but still.  

     

    The wires are so damn short that the fuse holder sits under the cover too.  Couldn't be arsed to get the soldering iron out, and no thin wire sitting bout anyway. 

     

    Not a lazy man's rifle.  

     

    Namsoft next weekend and the AKs have to be in prime nick.  Dụ má mày yankee!

      yeah ak's can be fun to work with depending on how they're setup.

       

      you get used to it though, whilst barrel access aint as good at least you don't have to have half the externals dissassembled just to get to the gearbox.

      Very true, the pinned models are very handy to work with.  The CYMA uses cheaper screws, and for a sub £100 rifle its astounding.   Pays your money etc...

       

      I think that they make a good base for custom builds too.

       

      I do have a habit of shedding mags though; I think due to using a mag grip equipped M4 a lot more.  I must catch the release with my (gloved) thumb tip.

      the jg's/cyma's in the ak world are good shooters, bit of tinkering and they'll deliver the goods no bother when it comes to the fundamental task of slinging plastic downrange.

       

      generally with the likes of the lct's/e&l's what you're paying for is the exterior quality.

    Have you considered this? Carries all your kit and no problems with breathability or mag retention being too tight. Just stick it all in the basket and away you go.

    In similar situations/carrying similar gear, I've used Chicom chest rig, 56 pattern Chicom water bottle and an el cheapo canvas Highlander rucksack and shoulder bag. Canteen one side, shoulder bag the other (with pistol inside on lanyard), sarnies and extra water/clothes etc in the rucksack. Weight evenly distributed, lots of capacity and costs peanuts. Modern gear wise an SADF rig either chest or full vest is hard to beat.

    I've had someone run face first almost into my barrel as I've shot. Spoiled my day despite being an accident and the other chap being 100% unharmed. He actually said, 'That's what goggles are for mate,' and laughed. Felt really guilty at the time. Bored people with the story before I know, but it happened, and I could have been deploying a 40 Mike from the under barrel launcher for all being said. Site allows them with MED. Think about that with this dodgy crap on your face. Hats off to the OP. Genuinely excellent work.

    I agree. My brain substitutes the word 'fucked' for upgraded in many adverts... Anyone can fit something badly. Fitting things well, especially shimming, is a real skill.

    Since the Girandoni airifle was in action in 1779, and bested the standard muskets of the time, surely a 9.48g BB at 500fps is acceptable? You'd scream your hits for sure. All in the name of history.

    Not much in the scheme of things mate. Probs best for keeping for an AEG project. I guess that when you start playing seriously you'll want a trick aeg at some point, and those bits will be v useful.

    Well...   fucking great day at Gunman Tuddenham.  Good gameplay, really aggressive play from the green team and some hard pushes from the banded team too.  Lots of BBs gone south.  Positive kill to death count.  New (to me) pew worked faultlessly.

     

    Only thing was forgetting to take my pain killers at lunchtime.  I took them when I stopped play, but depressing the clutch pedal was agony all the way home.   

     

    Picked up my M14 from the on site gnu guru.  It now shoots supernaturally good.  Seriously, give Theatre 1 Airsoft a look.  As a former engineer, I cannot work the magic that Roman lays on what he plays with.  I now have the best beastiest airsoft rifle I have seen in my gun cabinet.

     

    Thoroughly recommend this site, and this very special tech.

    The only people I know that wear them do actually box. They are used to shutting their mouths when stressed/competing, and also obviously own the things. Personally, I would only consider wearing the blasted thing for the same reason that you run with one in, to learn to ignore it and breath hard naturally despite the big lump of plastic partially closing your airways. Why people people who don't know how they actually work wear them is, as Druid says, a different thing altogether.

    You get knocked out easier with an open mouth, hence gumshields are designed to work mouth closed. They are not, as said above, designed for airsoft. You can get double gumshields, they have a vent in the middle to breath through. All gumshields are horrible to wear. I should have added that I am moulding a new gumshield tomorrow, top row only; filling a new standing bag stand too If you actually need a 'shield, you'll already know you do!

    Airseal is the PIA with these. I'm quite happy fitting another any upgrade hop rubber and just tightening the screw on the hop unit slider up a touch to stop it wandering. Airseals are either OK out of the box or leaky as fuck. I've three of the things and they're all the same. Silly as a better nozzle at the factory would add about 25p to the cost of the gun and stop you having to tear some of them down.
