Sacarathe reacted to K12K13 in Reviews or members of GAOL events?
Sorry if this is under the wrong thread, I'm new too the site😄 just wondering if there were any members of the GAOL events in Oakham? Or anybody with any reviews?
First timer looking to book on for this Sunday's open day.

Sacarathe reacted to Deva in Is the Facebook ban going to ruin the forum?
Simply put, no. An influx doesn't provide a credible reason to ruin it.
Last week may have been bigger but it's not huge.

Just so you know, my malware blocker pinged when I clicked the "submit" button at the bottom.
Doesn't necessarily mean there's any malware embedded, but finish the survey at your own risk.
PS. Worst questionnaire ever.
Even if it is being used for a good reason, the data acquired is going to be shiiiiiiiiiiiit

Cheap doesn't always mean "good value" though. I'm about to look at buying genuine Surefire pad switches because almost every single element or night evolution one I've had has failed.

Sacarathe reacted to Twice19 in New member seeking advice, players & events in the midlands
It might be worthwhile editing the title to something along the lines of "New Player in Leicestershire..." to catch the attention of your local players. I'm not familiar with your neck of the woods, so I can't advise on sites etc at all ok afraid.
With Kit atleast, I recommend to buy cheap and upgrade/replace when it's needed. I'm still playing in the £15 Assault Vest I bought when I first started. Bought it cheap and loved it all along.
Tried several different types of Chest Rig/LBV/Plate Carrier etc, but never got on with them.

Welcome to the forums.
Lurk for a week. Read all the stickies and use the search - you will learn more than we could possibly tell you in a single thread and won't annoy anyone by asking questions that have been asked 100 times before.

I can't really see a rule violation here (now that the other 2 threads are gone ) so I'll leave this up.
I would suggest to the OP that you explain more clearly WHY you want our opinions on strange survey style in broken english, rather than just asking us like everyone else.

Sorry, buy anyone who uses Condor for actual combat is being straight up insane, regardless of who they are. It's fine for airsoft, absolutely, but trusting your life to that gear (which is not definitely not built for life-saving applications) only shows you're either the craziest risk taker the world's ever seen, or don't have a clue about nylon gear.
The fact you can get a Tac Tailor PC for 75 when the Condor costs 60 says to me that actually, the quality to price ratio on the Condor is really pretty terrible comparatively speaking. I'm bound to get flamed for this for daring to say anything against the cheap chinese brands, but when you can get something of far superior construction for such a small increase in price then going with the airsoft kit just doesn't make sense. Long term you'll be saving money with the better quality kit.
I get that people have a budget and that £15 might just be going too far, but saving up for an extra month or however long will no doubt pay dividends in the long term.

Sacarathe reacted to jcheeseright in WE G17 Upgrades
upgrades you've listed for accuracy will definitely help.
For snapper response you need to lose weight on the slide and match your recoil spring to the new weight. AIP make a REALLY good lightweight BBU and there's tonnes of lightweight aluminium slides available for the WE G17. On top of that, a good nozzle & piston head combo will really help, again I recommend AIP for both.

Id say mix and match.
Like CKinnery said the short mags are ideal if you are prone for some DMR action.
However, when it all comes on top its nice to slap in a Stanag and join the party!

Sacarathe got a reaction from Mos in Buying from Mancraft
'Donor gun' does not always denote second hand. It just means (I think), and I haven't a great analogy, that the purchase (or repurposing) was incidental to the usual reason people buy them.
Thanks for those numbers.

And may this be a lesson to anyone unaware about Osprey. Good for saving your organs from grenades - Not so good for nice, safe airsoft.
As for what to use, honestly any chest rig or anything that is a dedicated plate carrier rather than an armour carrier (like the Osprey or the US OTV that have lots of extra bulk for soft armour coverage), they'll all work better. This is the best deal you're gonna find on a top quality PC in the UK right now (short of some amazing ebay deal):
http://www.tactical-kit.co.uk/tactical-tailor-plate-carrier-modular-22001-7050-p.asp
You can add PALS panels on the sides later. I recommend them fairly often because the price to quality ratio you're getting there is immense, but the "gear" viper and their ilk clone looks more tacticool so nobody every buys one.
Otherwise, any Warrior rig will be far better built than an airsoft-only brand, if you can budget for it and are the sort of person that's not gentle on your kit. Definitely get on ebay and all the forum classifieds, there's always people selling solid stuff because they want a different camo this season or whatever. I got one of my FirstSpear PCs for £100, so the deals are out there.

Sacarathe reacted to Mos in Buying from Mancraft
Without a donor gun, as I bought mine as a new.
VSR - £200
Mancraft stuff- £170
Some BBs - £15
CO2 (50 as said above) - £17
£412 from those prices.

Sacarathe reacted to proffrink in Buying from Mancraft
Entirely depends upon the cost of the donor. You can get second-hand JG BARs for about £90.
For the kit, regulator, adapter, spares and tournament lock maybe £175-180 shipped.
50 CO2 bulbs are about £17.
