Lol, I was gonna share that too, bit that got me was at the end of the article the plod say they "escorted him home & appropriate advice was given"

WTF, unless I'm missing some dramatic piece of info, what kind of "appropriate advice" can they legitimately give a young boy was playing with a bright red toy "gnu", no laws were broken & nobody harmed by a vividly coloured TOY.

What next, non-binary toy guns

Cover it up, and don't wear a balaclava to hide your age?  Given that Karen is going to scream "Assault style toy!" if she sees you walking down the street with it.

And public possession of an IF is an offence, although we have a Sheriff judgement that "playing cowboys and Indians" would be a reasonable excuse.

Sounds to me like Dibble handled it OK-ish.  It's not like Karen would have told them that it was bright red.

Yeah the balaclava was probably crucial, kids probably "speshul" wearing a balaclava in this heat, or his mam had just given him a shite haircut lol.

The whole "Internet Karen" thing is really pissing off my wife Karen, which obviously I wouldn't dare wind her up further 😜

“......you can’t blame people for being worried if they see someone in camo gear waving a gun around.”

Yeah you can, if the "gun" is a bright red toy. 🙄

I disagree. Competition shooters, particularly clay shooters, often have wacky coloured guns.

As far as Karen is concerned, if it’s gun shaped it’s a gun, and I agree. It’s too easy to become blasé around gun shaped things when you used to them

Yeah... and no, since apparently[*] Colonial criminals have taken to putting orange tips on their real steel yeet cannons.

Anything gun shaped could be a gun.  I mean, two tones shoot as well as RIFs, right?

I don't like that we live in a world where assault style toys result in hysterics, but I don't think we can put that genie back in its bottle.

[*] For interwebs levels of veracity.

Hi-Point® Firearms: YEET Cannon G1

Don't be silly, nobody is masochistic enough to own one of these...

When an airsoft version appears, I will have one, even if it costs more than the real thing.

Hi-Points are literally bulletproof.

I am literally gagging to see the actual "gun" that the kid was playing with, & I'm sure I'm not the only one here 🤔

  • 2 weeks later...

Police don't like it when the public is scared of something that they are ignorant of like what a real gun is.

Had someone question what airsoft is and when I explained that they are power limited BB guns that you milsim and CQB with as in fire at each other, their response was "Isn't that illegal?"
