  1. Welcome to the forum, aside from anything else don't get a sniper rifle as your first gun. Best thing to do is get a feel for as many guns as possible. The problem with looking at hire guns is they are generally leaning on the terrible side, even if the actual gun they are using is decent. I might be mistaken but I think it's the JG G36 which is generally considered a pretty good cheap gun, however when they are used as hire guns they get abused and subsequently don't shoot very well. Get chatting to some players when you go to games as they are almost always happy to talk about their guns, let you hold them and maybe shoot them too. If you are really lucky someone will lend you a gun for the game/day. One thing I would say is take what people say with a pinch of salt, unless it seems to be a general consensus. You will hear people say things like a well respected brand is terrible or that using LiPos(a type of battery) is somehow catastrophically dangerous, despite tons of players using them. If you find a particular gun you like, say an MP5 then there's plenty of options and people on here will be better able to advise on what to get.
  2. As others have said the GBB version is a cracking gun.
  3. I personally still really like the G3 and wish a more modern airsoft version came out. The old TM one is made from that creaky plastic all their old rifles used, so a G&P or TM Recoil with a metal receiver would be nice. MP5s are still a great design too, although i'd have to get a gas version if it wasn't one with a solid butt stock as the battery space is iffy otherwise. As far as pistols go the USP and HK45 are still two of the best looking as far as i'm concerned. To be honest though I like the majority of the guns H&K have released, i'll put some pics up of my guns if people don't get salty about specific gun threads again. Although I think H&K guns is broad enough to not flood the board with loads of threads like individual gun models would do.
  4. I'd rather get strobed than have someone shine a laser in my eyes. The times i've fought against people using them it's just annoying more than anything, like if someone kept flicking a light switch on and off whilst you are watching TV.
  5. Sat in a dugout with my LMG at the point where the road opens up at the Sandpit. For some reason their team just kept pushing through the two chokepoints I was covering and when I shot them players would run to medic them, completely in the open only to get shot, then people would try and medic them. There's a picture of me in the photos in the field thread where I was setup, but as I said there the marshal stood a few metres from me said I must have got 30 people. I was still laughing explaining it to my mate back at respawn, I doubt I will ever top that as it was a combination of a good spot with their team being really dopey.
  6. All the people i've spoke to who own TM APEs have been very happy with them. I think a lot of people frown upon them as it's a case of "why not use a gas blowback pistol?" and I sort of agree. I've played in around -2C in the winter and my HK45 still works fine and to be honest I wouldn't want to play if it was any colder than that. I guess they make sense if you regularly play in really cold temperatures but then you lose the fun of shooting a GBB pistol
  7. You might be able to get around £400, people are quite often happy to pay high prices for second hand TM Recoils that are stock. Just be wary of the prices that some retailers are showing for guns they don't have in stock so you don't get savagely low balled. There's been a bit of stink kicked up around the use of trades recently and it seems some have tried to dump any stock with trades on as to be shot of any liability on their end.
  8. Yeah Nuprols made a squeaky noise in there which seemed legit. I'll be getting the pistol mag sized one soon anyway as i'll be running 0.28s or 0.30s on my Recce rifle and don't want to mix different weights by mistake.
  9. I've had my TM M4 speedloader for 2 years and had no problems with it.
  10. These are what I use: http://www.socomtactical.net/airsoft-accessories/ammo-and-gas/0-25-airsoft-bbs/box-of-12-asg-blaster-025g-3000-bottle.html Postage is a flat £5 rate which is good as a lot of retailers either charge more by default or bump the price up when shipping heavier items. It's something to watch out for as postage can effectively negate any savings you made on bulk buying. Airsoft Zone has some good bulk buy deals too but I don't know how much their postage would be: http://airsoftzone.co.uk/multibuy-zone?sort=p.price&order=ASC&limit=25 Buying single bottles I would just do onsite when I'm playing. Although it does mean you could only have the choice of ammo that your gun doesn't like.
  11. Main ones I'm seeing doing a quick search is the Nuprol ones: http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft/we-europe-nuprol-0-28g-diamond-tracer-6mm-bb-x-3000-light-green.htm I have had and know a lot of people who have had feed issues with Nuprol BBs. Apparently they are better now but I can't confirm this and don't know how you could verify if you were buying a newer or older batch.
  12. I'd go electric first. It takes some times to learn to play well using semi auto only and you won't be able to spam shots like you could if you were using 100+ round mid caps or high cap mags. I'm not saying you can't use full auto with gas guns before anyone says that, you just won't have the magazine capacity for it to be practical as a play style like it is with an AEG.
  13. I've done this a few times and it works really well. Lots of players stood around with their guns lowered waiting for the person nearest the door to move. When I get round to getting a pouch for my Oshiboom i'll throw that out there when a timed grenade comes in. The downside is you can get lit up, but these things happen.
  14. As Sitting Duck said 209 primers are much cheaper. 9mm are louder but I find it negligible and to be honest who can't hear either very clearly at 5 metres?!
  15. I'd wait if it was me, have you looked round the various HK retailers?
  16. Yeah the ones done well look tidy, the ones that are just some gash from call of duty look like shit.
  17. I've seen quite a few green camoed guns that I think look decent. I'll probably have a go with something like a Cyma M14 one day. I'm not really a fan of the tan colour schemes full stop, but people can do what they want with their kit.
  18. The other thing you need to consider is the chest is one of the least likely areas to get shot unless you are out in the open. I wonder if you are perhaps jaded by being exposed to bellends wearing plate carriers, some sites definitely attract people with the wrong attitude more than others. I've consistently had more issues with players at certain sites regardless of gear. I had a chap wearing one of the viper looking ones the other week and first time I shot him I heard it hit the rig but he didn't take it. He took a follow up shot which suggested he neither heard nor felt it. This was at a range where 2 other players winced in pain when I shot them. The rest of the day I had no problems with him taking hits.
  19. They are about the same, if not better than a lot of assault vests.
  20. Sounds a lot like wearing a plate carrier vs not wearing one.
  21. The latest toy, TM recoil Recce rifle it has been R hopped, has a BTC Spectre MOSFET and some other bits I can't remember: Still need to add optics(probably an Elcan Spectre clone) and maybe flip up sights and possibly a suppressor somewhere down the line.
  22. I quite often just get wet if it's raining as it doesn't really bother me. Being cold on the other hand is something I am not a fan of so I have a lightweight jacket that's got some sort of thermal lining and it's waterproof too. I only really pack it when it's cold to the point where it makes your hands ache. When it's hot I just roll my sleeves up, although I'll probably look for something a bit cooler for next year.
  23. I actually use the angled foregrip as I find it really comfortable. Originally I had a vertical foregrip but found holding it so that my thumb was on the top rail whilst my fingers were sort of curved over where the front of the vertical grip meets the rail was preferable for me. I think the sort of grip I'm talking about has a name(mong grip maybe?) but it works for me. For me it's mainly about what works with a bit of what I think looks good thrown in. Stuff like PEQ boxes is just another place where the rifle is going to get obstructed by an attachment I don't use. If I try something I think looks good but then gets in the way i'd thin it out sharpish.
  24. I'd be dubious paying £100 as the chap has no idea what's in it.
