On Saturday, I ventured into the darkest depths of Croydon and to Tactical Warfare Airsoft, a site about which I had heard mixed opinions and read mixed reviews.

First impressions were good; the safe zone was well set up and the staff seemed to be on the ball.  Chronoing was with 0.20g BBs, but most sites still seem to do that.  I bumped into a few players that I knew from other sites, so we teamed up for the day, which was cool.  One concern early on was the number of young rentals; however, the vast majority of them turned out to be good players and good hit takers.

It is a small site but nicely bumpy and has a good and quite large CQB area, for those who like that sort of thing.
We played 6 games (3 in the village and 3 in the woods), which were well designed and fun.  Hit taking was just about ok and the marshalling was at the usual level (not great but acceptable).

    Would I go back? Yes.

25 years ago I had a front tooth shattered, since then I've been through implants, serial infections causing incredible pain, two sets of dentures and probably thousands of pounds worth of dental work. It's something I'm conscious of nearly every day.
I don't want it to be my BB that puts someone else through that, any more than I want one of my BBs popping someone's eyeball. My lower face pro is probably the most comfortable part of my rig  and if anyone is on the fence about face pro or thinks it's unnecessary, I'd urge you to reconsider. There's nothing at all macho or manly about not being able to chew food properly for the rest of your life.

Why I will always wear and recommend lower face pro when airsofting. I've already spent too much time and pain on these teeth to deal with them being shot out.

My second eldest was down from university for the weekend, so we decided to walk on Saturday and play Airsoft on Sunday.

Having had a good experience previously at Tower Airsoft, I recommended it and he agreed, so off we went on an unexpectedly misty Sunday morning.

Having had a good day there with about 80 players a few weeks ago, I was a bit worried that there were only 40 of us on site.

However, the day was superb.  The lower number of players resulted in the play being more open, allowing us to follow our favourite approach of sneaking around and popping up where the other team do not expect us.

A two legged team death match ended up with us chalking up 24 kills without being hit, which was rather fortunate in the second leg as I am not sure that we could have found our way back to our regen.

The games were well thought out and well balanced, with great play from both sides; the marshalling was spot on and the attitude of players was first rate.

it was the best day’s airsoft that we have had in a long time.

Many thanks to all the players, the Tower Airsoft staff, the Camo team, and the marshals for an excellent day.

Excellent!  That is what we want, more people prepared to splash their entire disposable income on toys :).

Blue here as well, wearing CCE and toting an MPiKM (morning) and an AMD65 (afternoon).

A fair price?  That is quite hard to answer as it depends on what I am hoping for and what I am getting.

Today I paid £25 for a well run day on an interestingly varied bit of land, with good games and an excellent safe zone.  I used about 1500 BBs (half a bottle) and spent £5 on lunch and drinks; add on travel costs and it came to about £44, which I consider pretty good value for a day's fun.

At another site I play at, this goes up to about £65, which still seems pretty good value; £40 of that is the entry fee.

I am wondering what you do to get it up to £70 on a typical day.

I had a really good, if slightly muddy, day at Airsoft Plantation.  Around 170-180 players turned up and the day was played in a good sporting spirit, with well designed games and excellent marshalling.

Both AEGs and the CO2 1911 performed flawlessly.  I got a lot of kills, including two guys who charged around a corner at me; I shot the first one and then the second one, who was already pointing his rifle at me.  He looked at it and looked at me; I was expecting him to claim that I had not taken a hit, but he just said "the safety is still on" and walked away to regen.

Another player apologised to me after he had shot me in the face from fairly close range; as it was all that he could see of me, I did not see it as a problem, but it was indicative of the sprit in which players seemed to approach the day.

I would not recommend a Gate Pico SSR at the moment; I have had two or three fail in the last few months and am aware of others who have had issues with them.  The Nano mosfets seem ok though.

Up to a point, and most of us play pretend soldiers to leave real life behind for a bit.

Ideally we'd bring nothing to the site except BBs and a magical belief about the accuracy of our toys.

However, that's not always possible for all people at all times, i.e. if you have family in an active war zone.

I have no idea if that applies to anyone at my local sites, but I wouldn't particularly want to find out by making a point of saying "Offence is taken, not given".

It really does depend on where you play; sites all have their own characters and styles.  You need to try a few out to find the ones that work for you.  Don't give up after your first try.

If you let us know where you are based, I am sure that members who know the sites in your area can advise you.

YT will provide you with a "next best" result if it can't find exactly what you're after.  That's usually considered 'helpful' rather than anything else!
As a video of a disassembly of a very specific airsoft gun is rather 'niche', it's not exactly surprising you're not getting (m)any hits.

Wildhog and warthog seem to be the same guns but one with a flash hider and other with a suppressor.  So all the interesting bits are the same.
I'd suggest you're getting your knickers in a twist for nothing

The Lancer RIFs seem to be rather fussy about which gearboxes they will work with.  I haven't done any measurements but have tried G&G, Classic Army and E&C gearboxes in an LT-12 with no success.
