  1. Well if you're asking those questions then maybe you've not been reading what we've typed before: It can run on CO2 or HPA. Importantly, as has been discussed in many places, with the CO2 adapter you can even fit one into the stock of the VSR or into a pouch at the side. Lugging around a bottle isn't the only option as a single bulb gets you between 50-100 shots (depending on various factors, but basically it boils down to how wide your barrel is and how high your desired fps is). It's just a gas conversion kit. When you pull the trigger the bolt hits a valve and releases the gas for a split second, propelling the BB. The gas - be it CO2 or air - comes from the bolt internals that're included with the kit, so there's not a whole lot special that you need to do. Fitting one can be done in 15 minutes or less (here's an excellent video on fitting one into a VSR by Shizbazki). Edit: The three big benefits of it are: It has a shorter, lighter pull that arguably makes it slightly more skirmishable as you can fire in quicker succession Because the spring needed is much smaller you simply don't need all the upgrades that you'd be expected to throw into a high-fps build like a 90o trigger, cylinder, guide etc. as there isn't there isn't the same stress being put on the internals that would necessitate harder-wearing materials Completely adjustable output means you can get dead-on 450, 500 or whatever you like just by twisting the head of the regulator Also, it doesn't break the bank a huge amount. With the regulator, CO2 adapter, kit, spares and shipping you're looking at about £165. When you consider how much a cylinder and trigger put you back then this isn't a huge figure as - again - you don't need a 90o trigger or fancy cylinder once you've fitted one. I've also done my own pseudo-build log, but it doesn't focus much on fitting the kit as it does fitting it into the stock (I've also still got to do the R-Hop on the new barrel and document that with the new hop chamber). Edit #2: Oh and they do tournament locks now for peace of mind.
  2. Import defences encompass exactly what jcheeseright says though: The importation of an RIF - not parts. Only when you assemble those parts without a defence are you breaking the law.
  3. Seems a little silly to spend all that money on a Krytac then throw out all the internals. Why not something externally nice but poop inside like a G&P or Ares?
  4. Barrel doesn't really matter brand-wise at 400fps+ so long as it's one of the reputable ones: Prometheus/LayLax/First Factory (*not the Delta Strike barrels) PDI EdGI Bore does matter though, and this is why the Mancraft kit is recommended because you can get away with much wider bores that don't mean having to switch to a more powerful spring and a harsher bolt cycle. Wider bores interfere less with hop, and if you want to go for very heavyweight stuff then you ideally want above 6.05 as you should get slightly more consistent shots when trying to hop, say, a .43g. On VSRs I'd go with Firefly or Maple Leaf (75o and up) over the Prometheus softer bucking as lately some of the Prometheus QA hasn't been brilliant (plus the ramp design on the Maple Leaf is great). Once again, really consider the Mancraft kit. Given the amount of upgrades that have to be made to the piston/cylinder without it, it comes close to paying for itself.
  5. Slightly off topic, but do you know any good threads/videos that review the TM M4? I've seen a couple buy they've either been obviously tainted by 'it's Marui so it's great' or are the typical shallow reviews done by retailers that don't offer any insight.
  6. Or put a target down lower and see if you get similar results. Agree though - there's no reason for this to happen.
  7. Nope - was a full-stop on that thread. Either way it's basically useless
  8. Welcome to the forums. Basically what Sp00n has said: There's a wealth of knowledge already on the forums. Almost any question that you can think of as a beginner has already been asked and answered. We're happy to fill any gaps but you'll get quicker results if you spend a few hours trying to track down the knowledge for yourself. Here are even more links: Guides http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/forum/7-guides/ (everything stickied/pinned) The law http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/forum/12-uk-law/ (everything stickied/pinned) Index of links http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/12854-new-player-guides-info/ Places you can play http://www.airsoftmap.net/Skirmish/ (worth mentioning that this is becoming pretty out of date so may not be 100% accurate)
  9. Short answer: Yes. Any MP9 built after 2009 (which will be the case if you're buying one new today, but it may be worth asking the retailer just to be ultra sure). Wouldn't rate anything KWA based on the supposed 'NS2' system as it's just a silly marketing term for their new blowback revisions that they made in 2008/9. If you're asking if the gun has decent gas efficiency then yes, it does. Nothing to write home about but it's ok. Still pretty susceptible to cool down, but all are really (even the very newest stuff that people like Tokyo Marui come out with). Cooldown will always be an issue with a GBB - 'NS2' or not. Basically, forget NS2 and rate the gun on how it actually performs (which is pretty good). I have to ask, but what with being new to the forums is this your first gun?
  10. Ok, hold on. I wasn't quite wrong (turns out neither of us were), but this is confusing as hell. Edit coming in Edit Just spent two minutes fiddling with the search, and this - for want of a better phrase - is very f*ck-y. In summary: It only searches for 4-character terms with an asterisk (i.e. something like MP5K or MP5A, MP5B etc.) when you use the following to search with: mp5* However, it will also highlight the desired 3-character terms (i.e. MP5) when you click on a result. This is the desired effect, but here's the dumb bit: If the post doesn't have an 'MP5K' anywhere, it will not show in the search results. In short: You might think you're searching for everything that's 3 letters long, but in reality you're searching for everything that's 4 characters long but it's also highlighting 3-character results if they happen to be on the same topic page. This is ridiculously misleading. To test: On December 29th there's a thread where Senior says 'MP7' in his post. Here's the link: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/29376-cyma-m4-mp5-and-deagle/ Put 'mp7' into the search bar and nothing comes up Put 'mp7*' into the search bar and results show up Notice how the thread from December 29th doesn't show up, despite it having 'MP5' in the topic Notice how other threads may show up, but also take note of how these all have 'MP5K' (or something similar) on the same topic page In conclusion: Stupid system.
  11. Yeh, but the issue isn't looking for 4-letter terms, it's about looking for 3-letter terms like MP5, MP7, HPA, FPS etc. - adding an asterisk to these just turns the fourth letter into an unknown 'wildcard' so 3-letter terms are still omitted. Search right now for 'mp5*' and you'll see only two or three results about us talking about the MP5K and where I've typed 'MP5*' - not all the other posts about MP5s. Edit I'm super dumb. You know where you search and it defaults to the topic? Yeh, I've been searching in this topic the whole time. How to forums... Seems to work though. Can you confirm with anything else that this isn't just looking up 'mp5k' etc.? Also, this seems equally dumb from a programming perspective: Why (as the IPB devs) would one simultaneously disallow 3-character search terms but also allow such a workaround? Bonkers. See two posts below.
  12. Seems good, but doesn't allinurl only search the URL rather than the page contents? I omitted it because people are really poor at titling their threads correctly a lot of the time.
  13. This don' work, soz. Wildcards don't allow 'spaces' so we're back where we started
  14. It's a bummer but it makes sense - why build in a default 4 character minimum then allow people to circumvent this with wildcards, heh.
  15. Unfortunately wildcards aren't the solution because - and correct me if I'm wrong but this is my understanding - they can't be a nil value (i.e. a 'space'), so if I put in 'mp5*', I would still only get results 4 characters long but it could return results like 'mp54' or 'mp5a' but not just regular old 'mp5'. This makes sense in the context of IPB and vB and other board software because they don't want you circumventing the '4 character search limit' by using wildcards as a three letter query can return literally thousands of results (and puts a huge strain on databases if many users are doing this). That's the very reason the 4 character limit exists in the first place - to keep search results to a manageable amount. Sorry
  16. There are loads out there that are specifically for people ordering stuff from abroad and getting it forwarded - they should expect you to have a foreign card or PayPal. You don't need an official PO box like those provided by USPS. Or do you mean billing address for the sites you buy from? I've not really encountered any that wouldn't let me put in a different billing address to my shipping address (i.e. the post box/forwarding service's address).
  17. Quite a few US retailers sell them too. Or you could try a PO box forwarding service - shouldn't cost more than £20 or so.
  18. The problem I've always had with mesh is other players using cheap biodegradables that shatter easily. It's got a lot better in recent years, but I'm still slightly wary.
  19. As said above: It's not the foam you're thinking of - it's small bits generally located above and below the eye and supported by plastic. Removing them doesn't affect the 'BB stopping' abilities of the goggles and is there just to keep dirt out (at the cost of slightly restricted airflow).
  20. Not the best choice compared to some of the newer stuff. I love G&P externals and have owned a couple of M4s, but their internals have been sub-par for years. Poorly shimmed and just years behind some of the companies that have been actually innovating.
  21. Also reloading is actually fun; far more fun than standing behind a tree and fingering the bottom of your magazine.
