might be either a seal issue at the hop or the piston skirt isnt lubed. it's shooting the same fps as my NPAS fitted that i had in previously, so I've imagine it's a boost on the standard nozzle. regardless of not hitting 500 fps with my current setup, i think it's a fantastic nozzle. The adjustment is rock solid so it should give consistency as good as a none adjustable nozzle at the rocket valve part at least. It's shooting 430 on a .20 which is 1.73 joules if i calculated correctly. 380'ish on a .32 which is closer to 2.2 joules.

From what I can recall, the ferrous metals rules only apply to handguns - Recoil Shocks have metal bodies and there's apparently a roaring trade in WE handguns in Japan. Japanese manufacturers in general have been appallingly slow to update their materials, although we're starting to see things like factory-applied CeraKote finishes on TM GBBRs.

I reckon a custom EBB gearbox of some sort with a heavy recoil weight (maybe based around the LCT steel piston) in a DX G&P M249 would definitely be the best of both worlds.

Recoil Shocks with a £100 FCU (that is light years ahead of the PTW's) have all of those features, except 1:1 construction, that are unambiguously advantageous. Plus they have recoil, and are available in a variety of shapes at half the cost or less. An ASG Scorpion EVO has cycle completion, 1:1 construction (far more realistic materials than the PTW's, too), stop-on-empty and bolt lock/release and a different hop-up and those are £300. The £1k plus you spend on a PTW also gets you a design that hasn't advanced noticeably since the early 2000s, questionable factory electronics, unexceptional materials and eye-wateringly expensive upgrades, the latter exacerbated by it being seemingly common to spend hundreds of pounds more immediately after purchase getting the gun set up by a professional.

PTWs were leagues ahead when they were the only ones with those features, but the beginning of the end for that dominance was the release of the SOPMOD more than 10 years ago now. The intervening 10 years gave us a further 26 (soon to be 27) NGRSs, ERGs, other more realistic AEGs (e.g. the equally flawed DAS), and a wide range of far more reliable and realistic GBBRs. I'm far from an expert, but I believe in the last decade Systema's only major innovation was a PTW with much worse recoil than an NGRS and battery magazines. For this you were expected to cough up $2,400 for the gun and $145 per magazine...

I'm not begrudging anybody their choice of gun and nobody has to justify their choices to anybody else. That doesn't mean that in the age of the Recoil Shock and modern GBBR the PTW isn't an increasingly obsolete platform.

Fitted the angry gun nozzle. Fits well and the adjustment is nice and solid. Didn’t give me the FPS boost I was hoping for though. Max was 430 on a .20 with a crazy jet 410mm and a flamingo bucking. Might try a Prometheus 6.00 or a custom length EDGI

You’re right. ICS is is a far more reliable design. What I mean is that it’s ‘feature’ is a split gearbox. There’s no recoil or anything fancy about it. People just delude themselves because they have to justify the cost.

I think it would be more accurate to describe TM's plastics as "inadequate for a £500+ gun". It's crazy that they still think ABS is acceptable on guns this expensive, especially when an $80 WE is all GFP. It's particularly bad on the SCARs and G36 NGRSs because those are almost entirely plastic on the outside and it is extremely difficult or completely impossible to replace it.

This is kind of the issue I'll have with the Mk.46, too. I know they spent a ton of money on it and I don't think the price is unreasonable, but I'm not paying £1,100+ for an aluminium gun when it should be made of steel. Especially not when G&P can make a steel one for literally half the price, and very especially not when it should be possible to hack together some kind of recoil for the G&P with the £550 left over. It's the same issue with the NGRS AKs: I don't think the price is unreasonable, but I'm not paying £500+ for an aluminium gun when I will shortly be able to get a steel LCT with similar recoil for 75% of the price.

Step one: buy a SixG brass super nub (best upgrade in my eyes)

step two: buy a modify tan bucking

step three: buy some geoffs .36 bb’s

step four: fit the parts and test

step five: return here to tell me I was right lol

It’s not so much the price, it’s the price for quality. I’ve spent stupid amounts on guns before like the VFC SR-25, but TM’s external materials on their AEG’s have always been shit. This is coming from someone who LOVES TM stuff and most of my Airsoft guns are TM..

however... the amount of broken receivers I’ve seen on the M4/416 NGRS series makes me not want to spend £1200 on it. I honestly could care less what the internals are like as they’re usually all stripped out anyway. I just want to know that the shell that’s holding it all together isn’t made of cheese.

As for systema, they are just an overpriced ICS that trades on the “weapon training system” slogan, despite never actually being used by ANY police or military.

gbls want £1500 for a gun that kicks less than my gbbr and doesn’t perform as well. It’s not even new technology. Top tech made a gun just like it and it used shells that ejected so it was more realistic if not impractical for about £500 ten years ago. For £1500 i can buy an mws and an NGRS of my choice and mod them to peak performance and have FAR more reliable RIFs.

yup, I can't tell you how fast I'd buy a GBB M249 if it was even half decent.

To increase the hop, you drag your finger across the dial from the front of the gun to the rear. If you’re right handed then it would be counter clockwise.

On the note of the green gas mod I used an angle grinder as I had one to hand however being zinc you could use a junior hacksaw or a pipe cutter I just did it in the quickest way possible.

a valve key is so cheap you should get one anyway makes maintaining all your mags a breeze.

As long as you have a set of Allen keys (a necessity for pretty much every Airsofter) a valve key (I recommend buying one) some masking tape and two biros and whatever cutting device you choose (you can pick up a Jnr. Hacksaw for about £2)

i took my fill valves with tubes out of the mags, then I taped a ring about 10mm above the actual fill valve (the inner brass tube seen in the picture)
use any thin long item as a depth marker put it down the tube till you hit the valve and put a wrap of tape on that point then take it out and place it beside your tube then move that point towards the end of the tube 10mm and you’ll have a good compromise between gas storage and initial shot consistency.

then use the pen to mark that point. That’s your cut line, before you cut remove the valve itself to stop any swarf and filings getting in there. Then cut, by using the tape it should leave less of a sharp edge and then just rebuild your valves and refit to the mags and jobs done.

when filling with gas I keep filling till it can’t take anymore, it does mean you’re stood there awhile filling mags however I get about 3 mags on a decent weather day to a fill of gas. So it’s worth the extra 10-15 seconds.

Just sharing some love for my MWS - took it to Airsoft Plantation today and what a pleasure - shooting people who have a shin stuck out from behind a tree at 70 meters whilst the group around them desperately try to engage me and literally seeing their BBs hit the ground 10 meters short of me and roll along the grass... awesome.

Although 3 of the 5 mags I took out with me ran out of gas after around 10 rounds, I cannot believe the problems I’m having just getting these mags to accept gas. WIll try a 20 second plus fill next time and hopefully enough will get in there, or I’ll green gas mod them.

    But yeah, loooove this gun.

Forgot to post the finale on my M4 "RS" build.
Been using it for 5+ games now and finally happy with it.
Tried a bunch of barrels and rubbers but finally ended up running a prommy 6.03 barrel and a prommy purple bucking. Now it goes straight and as consistent a GBBR can (I think)
Externally there has been zero issues, but internally there has been some.
    1. Almost smashed up my bolt against the upper ring on the ... lower. The RS buffer tube is a bit longer internally than the TM buffer so the bolt travels to far back and hits the lower. Spacer in and that problem was solved.
    2. Guns modify nozzle v.2 has been acting up. On several occasions the nozzle valve either gets stuck completely or to much resistance making a jump from 1,75 joule to 2,6 joule and over-gassing everything. Stock TM nozzle rectified the issue so far.

So a final post with pics on it. If you have questions regarding the re-threading etc feel free to ask. I will answer as soon as I see it.
