  1. rail is about £120 ish normally, you'll need to budget another £10 for the barrel nut tool and £8 for a pack of barrel shims too, without the right tool you'll never get the nut tight enough and without the shims your barrel will be really wobbly.
  2. £439.95 for a SOCOM, you trippin' bruh?! http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/marui-recoil-m4a1-socom-airsoft-gun-ebb-aeg £390, save yourself another £50! Or, if you want to save even more: http://echigoya-guns.com/guns/index.php?route=product/product&path=36_35&product_id=51 $460 (free shipping!) is about £270, expect another £60 or so on top for VAT/duty and you're more than a hundred quid better off. For LiPo batteries inside the front rail, depending what rail you put on you can expect to have to do some work to get it all to fit. I use these batteries: http://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/batteries-bbs-gas-chronographs-c5/batteries-c62/we-7-4v-1450mah-25c-crane-stock-lipo-p3193 They're the thinnest LiPo I've managed to find anywhere and I still had to remove quite a bit of material from inside a Daniel Defence RIS2 to get them to fit. The outer barrel also is a one-piece 14.5" so if you want to put a 9.5" rail on there you're going to need to buy a 10.5" outer barrel too.
  3. The difference between video games and airsoft? In airsoft you get to choose exactly what you wear... in a video game generally you don't. Among about a thousand other differences.
  4. Spoken like someone who's never worked really, really bloody hard to earn something like a beret.
  5. The HP has a faster graphics card, on paper at least. The processors are comparable and the HP also has more memory, looking at the specifications I'd say the HP is the faster computer and if they were similarly priced it'd be the one I'd want. However, if you're only after running something like the sims then either one will do the job.
  6. a decent hop rubber and nub combo is all I'll ever recommend. All depends on the type of barrel but I've had excellent results with firefly buckings and flat nubs.
  7. in my experience r-hop is very much snake oil, I've yet to be out-ranged by an r-hopped gun.
  8. the law states that the colours must be bright, no subdued colours allowed.
  9. This question has been answered about 10 times already.
  10. 100% agree with these guys, if your gun has a specific deficiency that you wish to rectify then you can sort that out. Just throwing 'upgrades' (they very rarely are) into a gun will often end up making the gun much less reliable for only a tiny gain in performance, if any gain at all! You say you want it to perform 'better', what aspect of it's performance is sub standard at the moment?
  11. While that's technically right (the best kind of right) for real guns, in 'airsoft language' a box magazine is a super high capacity drum magazine.
  12. I'm aware of that, I just wanted to highlight that just because you CAN order an AK47 bolt carrier... doesn't mean you should! Wooden parts are furniture and are 100% legal, regardless of what they've come off.
  13. yes, you have misunderstood, any load bearing parts (which includes the whole gas system and some muzzle devices) are controlled, if they're for an automatic rifle they're section 5.
  14. Keep in mind though that a lot of the parts on that page are 100% illegal to even own in this country. Anything which relates to the gas parts, barrel or bolt of an AK47/74 is definitely section 5 and likely to warrant a visit from the police if you try and import it!
  15. tell them the problem, as it's faulty they're responsible for paying the return postage.
  16. or, send it back to the retailer and get them to send you a new one. You've spent probably £500+ on the gun and it should work perfectly out of the box, you shouldn't have to fix it.
  17. Are you suggesting that at some point there's a PJT for P's & Q's? no. Buying a RIF from zero-one or fire support without UKARA is a pain in the bum, 90% of other retailers are a bit more sanguine about the whole thing. Not only that, 'very hard' and 'require' are two separate things, stating that you REQUIRE UKARA to buy a RIF is false, completely false on every level. Sure, UKARA greases the wheels but it's in no way a requirement. When I start spreading misinformation as fact please tell me to wind my neck in, til then I suggest you take a leaf out of your own book.
  18. you don't need UKARA to buy a RIF either, edumacate yourself.
  19. I use an appropriately sized punch and a small hammer, once you've shifted it a few mm it'll come out much easier.
  20. I'm an air traffic controller in the navy, when I say 'at work' with airsoft stuff I mean 'in my room on base' as opposed to in my room at home. Taking blank firing grenades to work is a good way to get a court martial!
  21. set off a 9mm timed bfg in the bathroom at work because I thought it was unloaded and didn't want the spring to be compressed any longer than necessary. door closed, no windows, completely tiled room... needless to say my ears were ringing for a fair while afterwards!
  22. Sounds like a pretty foolproof plan, personally I'd only lock up the guns. There won't be any rules about gear at all and a big box to hold it ALL in would be much more expensive I expect
  23. check out team flex with all his experience of living in uni halls! or not. Halls I stayed in when at uni had pretty airtight rules when it came to things like firearms, drugs, alcohol, etc... on paper (this was back in 2001 mind...). In practice we all got smashed up all of the time and no one's room EVER got searched in any way shape or form, because the uni just didn't care unless we were breaking the law overtly. Chances are you'll be breaking the rules by having an IF or RIF in your room, however, unless you're a retard about it no one is ever going to find out or care.
  24. sounds like you're spinning the hop wheel the wrong way, there's an arrow on the hop up unit that tells you which way to turn for more. also, there's a manual in the box, I'd strongly recommend reading it since you've just spent the best part of £600 on it!
