wearing flat caps, stroking whippets and thinking about cleaning out your pigeon sheds.

while not cheap, any receiver on this page will fit: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/accessories/metal-body/aeg-metal-body/index.html?manufacturer=319 you'll have to buy the upper too though, I don't think you'll get a new G&P lower on it's own.

Retailers will do UKARA checks for anyone, I phone up fire support to check the number of everyone I sell to, using the self check is hit and miss at best.
-
The self check is rubbish, the retailer accessed database isn't. You probably ARE on the database, just CALL A RETAILER and ask them to look you up.
-
Did you spend the night shooting at each other? We're there pyrotechnics and the possibility for a passer by to lose an eye if they'd strayed into your party by accident? That's what PLI is for, not just because it's a gathering of people. You can bet your ass that if you were to lose your eye on site the PLI wouldn't pay you a penny unless the site could be found to have been at fault. A passer by who by bad luck got caught by a BB that had made it through the site's safety netting, they'd get a big payout.
-
If you want clarification on whether you're on the database or not, call a retailer. You might never appear on the self check, I know I haven't.

I think the main problem you're going to encounter is finding somewhere that'll do it for a reasonable price and also allow you to camp. Pure airsoft sites generally (not always) don't have the facilities of a bigger paintball enterprise, you're gonna need toilets at the absolute least. However, a paintball place is unlikely to offer their whole site for a weekend for much less than £50-60 a head, considering they can easily make £60 a head off a party group in an an afternoon, four times that in a weekend. Essentially you're going to need to be able to guarantee to cover the site's normal income for that weekend, which in the case of a paintball site is going to be a LOT of money, probably less so for a dedicated airsoft site but it's still going to be a fair wedge. Especially since if you're on their PLI they're going to want their marshals in attendance to ensure that you're complying with the conditions of their insurance.

Self check is notoriously crap, loads of people don't show up on it. Give fire-support a call and ask them to do a lookup.

If only QE was half as good as a Nimitz :-(

UKARA number and your address, phone number if you're really paranoid. Don't put imitation firearm on the box, that's just asking for trouble! Customs and excise don't care if it's come from Pierre LeFroggy or from Gun-fire.pl, makes no odds to them.

Renting a field (as in a farmer's field) is likely to be a massive pain in the bum. Any kind of official gathering requiring people to pay is going to need some kind of public liability insurance. Best bet would be to hire a site for a weekend, though I doubt it'd be cheap. Certainly nothing like £10 each.

Just turn up and play, your gun being a RIF is none of their business.

Fair shout, people forget that you used to be able to walk into a model shop with £35 and walk out with a TM springer, no questions asked.

What difference do motors make?
jcheeseright replied to GREG Shooter123's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
If you can get hold of one, I highly rate the TM EG1000, it's a nice halfway house between pure torque and high speed, provides serious pull but spins nice and fast too. If you're pulling anything smaller than an M120 spring it'll give you spectacular trigger response. Of course, if your pockets are deep then the systema magnum and G&P Devil Jet motors are awesome, but very very expensive. -
JG BAR-10 or WE Glock 17 (Gen 4)
jcheeseright replied to Airsoft_Mr B's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
The BAR10 will end up costing more in the long run, but will probably get more use. Essentially you have to decide if you want a bolt action rifle or a pistol, they fill two completely different niches, although if you get the BAR10 you're going to need a pistol eventually anyway as once someone's inside MED you're as much use as a chocolate fireguard without a sidearm. -
How come you aren't allowed to spray a gun but allowed to own a RIF?
jcheeseright replied to Lord_Metile's topic in UK Law
"a mate of mine heard at this site that...." turns into "THE UKARA LICENSE LAWS SAY THAT YOU CAN'T HAVE A RIF UNLESS YOU'VE BEEN AIRSOFTING FOR 3 YEARS AND HAVE A SECTION 1 FIREARMS CERT". People need to read the fucking law, it's not hard to find. -
nope, no need for any o-rings, the rubber should fit well enough that it's self sealing.
-
planning on heading down to this, haven't played at Lydd before.
-
I just put mine in a little fabric bag in a trouser pocket. They're NOT going to go off from a BB hitting them.

The 'version' of the gearbox relates to it's shape; specifically the positioning of the gears in relation to the motor and piston. A version 6 gearbox isn't more advanced or 'better' than a version 2, it's just designed to fit in a different shape gun. The SCAR and the 416/SOPMOD/recce/SOCOM/CQBR (all internally the same) both use a version 2 gearbox, but the SCAR has the recoil weight on top of the gearbox instead of in the buffer tube (since the SCAR doesn't have a buffer tube). Neither version is better, just different.

Oh fuck this. So much misinformation flying around here. RIF = REALISTIC imitation firearm. I'm out.

best eye protection for fast helmets w/ coms?
jcheeseright replied to CaptainDumbass's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
ESS Crossbow Suppressor, really really thin arms which fit comfortably underneath ear protection: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/351072351886?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108 -
A tracer unit doesn't leave the light on all the time, they normally have an IR sensor hooked up to a high intensity flashbulb (or 2 in the case of the TM tracer) which flashes exactly as the BB passes by. Despite all that, you can still pick up a B&T tracer unit for less than $50.

Being a bit of a pedant, but it is actually illegal for an under 18 to purchase/attempt to purchase a RIF. In that instance both the seller and the buyer are at fault!
