Any decent plate carriers sub £100?
jcheeseright replied to Albiscuit's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
For less than a hundred quid you'll be hard pressed to find something 'decent', there is serviceable stuff to be had in that price bracket though. I bought one of the carriers chock linked when I first started, my advice is to avoid like the plague. They're beyond garbage, wonky molle, loose stitching, shiny nylon, adjustment holes are just circles burned into the straps. TMC and Flyye do some really quite nicely made stuff for a reasonable budget. I'd look into 6094 style carriers as they're fairly ubiquitous and easy to adjust without complete disassembly. Flyye make a very nice 6094, the TMC 6094 slick with assault panel is also quite nice for the price. EBairsoft are a halfway decent place to go for TMC items, though it'll take a while for them to ship, if you're in a hurry I'd recommend the flyye 6094a. -
Even then, a stirling weekender at an MOD training area like STANTA or Copehill down is normally £65. Admittedly I see that as being awesome value, but that's 24-36 hours of play at a site with facilities and features that no warehouse can EVER emulate.

VFC MP7 Bolt - NPAS Compatible?
jcheeseright replied to RabidNinja64's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
worth having a chat with Ian at milspecsolutions; http://www.milspecsolutions.co.uk/ra-tech-npas-valve-for-ksc-kwa-mp7-and-system-7-gbb.html says there some customers have had success using it in the VFC. -
that and a CQB warehouse big enough for 100 players to not make it overcrowded.... that's gonna cost more than 70k a year just in rent.

Will a MADBULL M120 spring work in my gun?
jcheeseright replied to Creature_face's topic in Electric Guns
yeah, put an M120 spring in that and if it cycles (which I don't think it will) you'll smash the front off the gearbox instantly. -
simple enough to do, but also completely unnecessary, you'll be able to fit a LiPo inside the buffer tube of a G&G gun no problem.

Good throw, focus and bright torch help
jcheeseright replied to SCAR_Jester's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
If you order from Hong Kong you can get an element M600 for much less than that, I wouldn't pay more than £25 for one. A UK seller isn't going to honour a warranty on a piece of cheap clone hear any more than a chinese one. -

I can almost guarantee that'll use the exact same CREE Q6 LED as the M600. -
where did you get that little nugget of info from? I've been to well over 20 sites around the UK and have only ever encountered one site with a blanket ban on CO2 (spartan airsoft near bristol)

Good throw, focus and bright torch help
jcheeseright replied to SCAR_Jester's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
any torch is gonna have a pretty big spread at 100m, at least any torch that's usable under 20m will anyway. They're about as bright as you're realistically gonna get for less than 50quid. as for why you'd need a torch that shines 100m when your gun will only go 60-70m on a good day I don't know -

element / night evolution surefire M600 clone, really good all round budget torch that comes fitted with a RIS mount. -
I doubt it, why would another site loan guns to a competitor? Like any business, you've gotta speculate to accumulate! One way to do it would be to start off small-ish and buy only 5-10 hire guns, make people pre-book for them and you kinda create your own supply-demand issue!

it's not an insurance stipulation, there's only a couple of insurers that offer the specific insurance required for airsoft and they all sing off largely the same hymn sheet for what's covered and what's not.
-
10k was an figure myself and a couple of mates came up with for the setup of a whole CQB site in a warehouse from nothing; including insurance for the first year, hire guns, masks, overalls, materials for building, BBs, batteries, magazines, cardboard pyro, radios, first aid equipment, etc That figure DIDN'T cover staff or rent, purely setup costs. Bear in mind, a halfway decent hire gun is gonna cost ~£100 (that's with the VAT reclaimed), hi-cap magazines are a tenner a pop, batteries are another tenner... so that's £120 per hire gun, 20 hire guns and you're already down £2,400. Halfway decent masks (CQB = fog) are gonna run for another £20-30 each.... you get the idea! Either way, not a cheap venture to start. Setting up a woodland site is significantly quicker and easier, as you don't need to worry about buying materials and building all the cover etc straight away, a couple of weekends with a spade and a saw and you can have some halfway decent stuff going straight off.
-
oh yeah, you're looking at an easy 10 grand to get somewhere started to any decent standard.

Southwest wargames was in a large warehouse, so it can definitely be done.

Shame they closed down?! Full auto CQB in a place the size of a shoebox where a 370fps AEG was allowed to play! I'm not surprised it closed down, it was run by morons.

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

don't worry about everything matching, everyone should have one off-colour pouch on their rig anyway -
A MOSFET is a metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor, in airsoft terms what it does is provide a 'remote switch' for running power to your battery directly to your motor, bypassing the trigger switch. The trigger switch will have a very, very small amount of power redirected to it and when that circuit is made, the MOSFET opens up the gates for the rest of that power to go through to your motor. It results in massively increased conductivity which improves trigger response and saves your trigger contacts (which were handling 11.1v for example... now handling 0.1v). Pre cocking, cycle completion, ROF control etc are all features of computerised MOSFETs, the principle is the same in that the trigger switch is bypassed, but there's extra circuitry to control timing and gear positions etc. Precocking for example when set up correctly will hold your piston on the last couple of teeth with the spring compressed, so your next trigger pull only requires the motor to turn a tiny amount to fire, this for an AEG is pretty much 'ultimate trigger response' as it's more or less instant. PTWs use this method to achieve their instant response. Rate of fire control on the more modern MOSFETs is done by cycling the gearbox almost in semi, very fast; the gearbox will cycle for one shot... wait a bit (measured in milliseconds) and then fire again, wait a bit.. fire again, this makes every cycle of the gearbox the same speed, but the rate at which BBs come out of the barrel can be changed at will. Active braking is a feature a lot of MOSFETs have now, even really small ones like the Gate PICO AB, when you release the trigger on your gun without an active braking MOSFET installed the motor doesn't stop immediately, it'll carry on spinning under it's own momentum for a very short time, with high torque and high voltage setups this can sometimes result in the gearbox cycling twice with one trigger pull, known as overspin. Active braking MOSFETs counter this by applying reverse current to the motor for a short time to stop it dead the very instant you release the trigger (or the cut-off lever disconnects the contacts for you in semi-auto), this stops overspin and in theory allows the gearbox to stop in the same position (or thereabouts) every time you pull the trigger.

yeah, that hop unit looks completely battered, do you have some ridiculous metal nozzle fitted? new hop-up unit should fix most of your problems.

A .20g bb at 1500 fps would struggle to leave a mark on a HPA tank. Don't worry about it getting damaged by people shooting at it, they're made of tougher stuff than the wheels of your car.

Very tall guy needing help with plate carrier option
jcheeseright replied to SCAR_Jester's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Plate carriers are sized according to the plates that go in them, providing you're not tall and thin as a rake you'll be able to find a plate to fit your chest. -
you could say the same of any AEG manufacturer, a £500 TM probably costs less than £50 in materials, it's the quality control that matters. WE have proved a number of times they prioritise profits over quality.

VFC SCAR-L is discontinued, only way you'll get one now is second hand.
