The 'What have you just bought' Thread

this should help: -
£105 is actually a really decent price for those in the UK, they're $153 direct from the manufacturer.
-
sounds like he means 2-tone. it'll take them as long as it takes to strip the parts off the gun and put a really thick layer of bright green on.
-
xortech make one, it's a combination of tracer/silencer/peq box that has loads of functions, one of which is counting shots!

Try a 12g blank posted into a small breeze lock room... Glad I was wearing ear protection, the other bloke in there looked like he'd been punched. -
money literally no object? Systema PTW MADmax with all the tac mods, hogue grip conversion, real colt upper receiver, buffer, stock, suzumoto colt lower receiver, suzumoto 20" government pattern outer barrel, knights armament Mk12 mod1 rail, nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50 scope, Insight LA-5, harris bipod and a blue force gear padded VCAS sling. Sadly I don't have £15k knocking about spare, so it'll never be mine.

no import charges, Poland are part of the EU.
-
yeah they're fine, check the fit of them against your face before you play though, don't want any big gaps where BBs can get in, a few millimetres is fine but if there's anywhere that a straight line can be drawn from eyeball to the outside world bad things can happen!

If you painted it into a 2-tone in that country and then brought it into the UK that would be legal, however, if you then wanted to paint it back to a RIF in the UK you'd be guilty of MANUFACTURING a RIF which is just as illegal as importing, so you might as well get a UKARA number or buy a 2-tone in the UK. I'll reiterate what Mack said, stop trying to look for loopholes, it just makes you look like a dick.

Ok, those goggles aren't real ESS, they'll be made in China with zero quality control. With a £100 budget you can get yourself set up nicely, but you'll want to make sure your eye protection is up to the job. http://www.tactical-kit.co.uk/goggles-139-c.asp Anything on that page will do the job. The gloves are decent, but If you get fast fit versions instead they're a few quid cheaper. Boots you've listed are no-name, might last you a week, might last 10 years. Who knows? I'd go for some surplus pro boots or get to an outdoors store and buy some decent walking boots. £7 for a shemagh is daylight robbery, get on ebay and buy one for less than half the price.

that's made me a bit sick, belongs in the thread to provoke ed!
-
more to the point, the OP doesn't have any kind of defence and therefore WOULD be breaking the law if he were to import a RIF.

Eye/Face Protection! I need a solution
jcheeseright replied to Snakeeyes75's topic in General Discussion
this: plus this: 100% head protection, chuck a scarf on and your neck is covered as well. The goggles are a set of ESS profile turbofans with a 'sansei' style lower trimmed and cable tied on. Helmet is a repro crye airframe, but a fast style helmet will work just as well, Peltor Comtac headphones on arc rail adapters protect ears from BBs and loud noises. -
there's no part under that which makes the import of a RIF legal under any circumstances. It's ALWAYS illegal, much like the sale is ALWAYS illegal, we simply have a defence against prosecution for committing that crime.
-
Point D specifically there. As for the OP, I strongly suggest you have a read of this: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/36 It's the law you'll be breaking, there's a nice bit at the bottom about sentencing.

read the actual act: Manufacture, import and sale of realistic imitation firearms(1)A person is guilty of an offence if— (a)he manufactures a realistic imitation firearm; (he modifies an imitation firearm so that it becomes a realistic imitation firearm; ©he sells a realistic imitation firearm; or (d)he brings a realistic imitation firearm into Great Britain or causes one to be brought into Great Britain.

PIG do some gloves called FDT Alphas (I think) which have really, really thin material on the palm and fingers which allows for very good dexterity, might be worth a look, they are expensive though.
-
Yes, illegal, not 'considered illegal', actually properly written down in law illegal, as in against the law. IMPORTING A RIF IS AGAINST THE LAW. Regardless of your chances of being caught, it is still a crime.
-
It is absolutely illegal, importation is importation!! driving over the border with a RIF is AGAINST THE LAW. Even for those of us with a valid defence, it is still illegal, it's just that defence means that you cannot be prosecuted for breaking that law, doesn't mean we're not breaking it!
-
It is illegal, importation of a RIF is against the law. Importation means the item coming from another country into this one, doesn't matter how it gets here, without a valid defence against prosecution you could be prosecuted under the VCRA 2006.
-
No, OWNERSHIP is LEGAL. There's no requirement for a defence or license of any kind to own a RIF, you don't need to go airsofting with it, or be a reenactor, or any of that shit, OWNERSHIP IS NOT LEGISLATED AGAINST. IMPORTING the RIF is illegal however, so I'd ask how you intend to get the item while staying on the right side of the law.
-
I didn't quote you out of context, I cut off the last half of your wall of text. When you reference 'owning a rif' with the word defence people get the wrong idea, especially when you don't specifically state that referencing that was in relation to buying/importing/manufacturing. With subjects like this it pays to be concise (not one of your strengths, I'm aware) and not rely on people reading between the lines. Tad managed to explain the law on the subject pretty comprehensively in 106 words, your 545 word essay didn't actually explain any legal points at all and somehow managed to shoehorn in references to domestic terrorism.
-
I'll stop you right there. THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT FOR A REASON TO OWN A RIF. NONE. You can OWN as many RIFs as you want, unless you commit a crime with them the police cannot do anything. The things legislated against are SELLING, IMPORTING, and MANUFACTURE. Posession of a RIF is not something you require a defence for. EVER.

This guy, who is he? SF Identification.

ninja edit while you were typing, I re-read my post and thought "actually, pathfinders aren't UKSF... should change that!"
