  1. @Lozart and all others, Thanks. I won't be a newbie forever! 😁
  2. Ah, I'd missed that. Yes, definitely Li-Ion. Do I still need to balance charge them then?
  3. Ok, I'm confused a little. When you storage charge it does that mean the charger does something other than charge it as you would normally expect? Then you leave it unplugged? I presumed storage charge was leaving it plugged in the charger like an intelligent trickle charger?
  4. Not quite what have I just bought but its all been in the last few days. Valken Kilo RIF. Used SkyRC S65 Balance charger. New Dean to XT60 adapters. New 6000 x Nuprol RZR BBs. New (lol) Nuprol Large wheeled hard case. Used Bolle Tracker 2 eye pro. New DeltaMike Mini. New Feeling good with myself.
  5. Thats an interesting one, my charger has a discharge function.
  6. I've done a quick search of the forum but found nothing, so . . . . I've got my RIF, 2 x 7.4v Li-Ion batteries and a SkyRC S65 balance charger. Both batteries have been balance charged but I wont be playing for a few weeks as I work shifts. I see on the charger that there is a storage function, do I need to keep them plugged in if I'm not going to use them for a while? Does the charge dissipate over time? What say you?
  7. There used to be loads of army surplus stores around. I remember there being an Army and Navy store on what seemed like every street corner back in the day. Car boot sales too but they are few and far between now. I haven't seen a good old fashioned army surplus store for ages! Especially anywhere near me.
  8. Thanks for all your replies. At the moment I've got black, cargo type, work trousers and an old DPM jacket. Last week the jacket was left off and I played in just my t-shirt. I like the look of chest rigs/plate carriers but i doubt I'll get one. They look like overkill, i might get some 95 webbing or just run a belt rig. Lightweight and functional. At the moment I'm enjoying skirmishes so am only out for 30/40 minutes at a time so ammo and water is all thats needed. I think. As you've said, I'll get a better idea of what i need as i play more but definitely need more than 300 rounds! Im not saying I'm trigger happy but ive got a little weight lifting regime for my trigger finger! I think Osprey puches and a decent belt are the way forward. Ebay/AliExpress/Temu/Amazon here I come.
  9. Hi all, As I've recently started my purchasing journey wish list, I'm stuck on ammo pouches. I've got one high cap mag for my M4 but on the last day I played I used a whole mag and needed to refill in the field. I suppose that I'll end up just getting another mag or a few mid caps, as I don't like the rattle, but what do others do? The hire kit I've used so far has the fabric sock type things with the poury spout, but I don't really like them! It doesn't fit in my pocket properly and it rattles! Any thoughts?
  10. SkyRC S65. It beeps when its finished charging! Nice.

To be fair, Nuprol chargers tend to give a nice loud bang, followed by a crackling sound, and a clear olfactory notice that they've put in at least enough electrons.

My b6 plays a little triplet.

      Bit like a Makita(🤮)charger.

  11. A very interesting watch. Thanks. I've just bought my first bag of 6000 .25 Nuprol RZRs. With hindsight I should of got a couple of smaller bags of different weights but at least after shooting 6000 of them, I'll know how they fly!
  12. Ive recently orded some airsoft related items from aliexpress. Nothing fancy, just a cheap tact vest. It hasnt arrived yet but ill let you know when it does. I was playing with practical shotgun a few years ago and ordered some speed loades from there, came with no problem and worked fine. Ive gave them to my mate when i stopped and he's still using them.
  13. Funnily enough, I popped into an airsoft shop near to me a couple of days to have a look and a chat. Got talking to the lad behind the counter about all sorts but mostly airsoft related. As we were looking as the BBs I must have mentioned about using .2s, he said don't bother with them and just go for .28 or even .3s?
  14. Yep, same as previous responses. The first time i went I was on my own. Everyone was welcoming. Just ask about someones kit and you'll probably never shut them up!
  15. As a complete newbie to the game, I've now played twice at Alpha55 in North Wales over the last couple of weeks. The first day I completely forgot that I am an overweight, unfit 50 year old and was running around like I was still in my 20s. A couple of hours in and I slowed down. Really slowed down but it was still loved every minute. Slowing down let me play a different game. I used to play a lot of paintball when i was in my teens and remember it being a rush of speed to get to the flag but, I've realised, airsoft is a much more tactical game and by the end of the day I was talking more to my team and planning the attack. I was absolutely worn out by the end of the day but I havent grinned like that in a while. The week after I booked myself and my 15 year old daughter to play at the same site. It was so hot, even at 9:30, that the old DPMs I'd brought for us were discarded and we played in just our t-shirts. She was a little apprehensive of being shot and held back in the first game but soon got into it after the inevitable hit. We worked well as a team, giving each other covering fire as we pushed forward to the objective. I was so happy, and really proud, of being there with my baby. She hates it when I call her my baby, but she is the youngest! I talked to a lot of people there, especially on the second day, about their kit and equipment. Ive already done a deal on a 2nd hand, but hardly used and like new, Valken RIF. Its the same as the sites hire RIF so I'm quite comfortable using it. I know its only a starter and I will probably upgrade to something better in time but for now its brilliant. The site is great. It's all woodland with a lots of different buildings, towers, CQB areas and the like. It was very well run, very professional. It made me feel safe. The hire kit was great, all well looked after and unlimited BBs. On the first day I used about half, of the supplied 2500 ish, over the day. On the second day i had to refill my carrier twice! My new spending addiction is coming into clear view!
