Having had a cracking day out with my '416, I need to add to my 2 (count 'em) mags for my next skirmish Not too fussed about the external condition, a few scratches etc are fine, but they need to work correctly... gas-tight and feeding consistently well. I'm after a couple, but if you can only spare one... it'd be a start π I'm in Milton Keynes and willing to travel a sensible distance for a pick-upΒ£50

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
RostokMcSpoons replied to Skara's topic in General Discussion
A beautiful sunny Saturday at Special Ops I had egged on one of my friends who was the guy I'd first gone airsofting with to come along, he turned up with his new TM MP7 GBBR, and as it has been a long time since I had seen him I brought along a bunch of my recent gnus to show him. I needed a bloody Chinook to transport it all... Double Eagle M906C (natch) VFC HK416 GBBR Tippmann M4 HPA TM AUG HC CA Scarab TM DOR 5.1 pistol With the forecast fog missing in action, the sun was out so ditched the jacket for just a camo shirt. Today was going to sting a bit more than usual π¬ but it'd also turn out to be warm enough for the gas guns to perform well I gave my friend a demo of a few of the guns and encouragingly found they were all running well, even the Tippmann (though it was slightly too hot on the chrono to skirmish, and I didn't get around to adjusting it) and the VFC, which I'd never managed to dial in for longer range until now A lack of marshals for the ~60 players meant I became a player-marshal for the day, mostly meant keeping an eye on the kids to make sure they kept safe. Nice to know I could shout at people with no come backs, but I didn't need to... much π The usual selection of games, but the site's layout has been changed quite a bit with lot more cover around the entrance to Ping Ping City, really freshened it up. A new escort the VIP game was introduced where the escort just happened to be carrying his electric minigun to defend himself! Good stuff, as I'd been up against that in the previous games but he ended up on my side for that one π A great day made extra special for me as I decided to use my HK416 gas rifle for most of it, I've detailed more about that in the owners thread ... suffice to say it was truly a game changer, I expect to be doing a lot more GBBR play in the future. My friend's MP7 was also great, very impressive... When the CQB site opens up I'll have to find a way to buy one Sounds like I'll be going along to Red Alert next month (14th?), maybe I'll see some of you guys there? -
Skirmished my 416 today properly for the first time, oh myyyyyyy I don't care how skint I'll get I'm not selling π I did some test firing with the gun yesterday just to check it would pass chrono, and it was bang on 350fps with 0.20s, no hop. And in spite of what I've said elsewhere it was actually very consistent. Maybe it had some silicon in the system before when I used Abbey Predator, but switching to Ultrair has cleaned it out? My order of Geoff's 0.40s don't turn up in time (thanks Royal Mail '1st class', delivering after 3 days or more used to be 2nd class, didn't it?) So I had to run it with 0.28s instead, and of course I've still got just the 2 mags and a speed loader. Well that worked out alright (in fact it adds some extra jeopardy and excitement to the proceedings!). The joy of landing a well placed single or double tap along with the recoil and loud banging and clacking of the bolt and general malarkey was just so tangible and rewarding I think the ambient temperature was up around 14 or 15 degrees C which of course helped immensely... the gun never missed a beat. I was topping up the mags like a mofo when in cover, but I stuck to semi only, and regassed between games, and it just kept on trucking. Accuracy seemed good, though not perfect... I'm not going to be hitting half a head peeking a corner at 40m, but it's good enough to make them duck out the way π That might improve once I've got the heavier ammo in there. I did go back to The Stalwart (the Double Eagle m906) for a couple of the games, but while that's better at reaping 'kills' it was just not as fun. And I used a gazillion times more ammo in that relatively short time. Through the day I let some fellow players have a go. They all loved it. I love it. GBBRs for the win!

Bargain-basement lightweight hydration pack
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in General Help
Exactly, in fact I merely 'glow', I was just trying to sound like a manly man -
I can see the weather forecast for tomorrow is that it could get quite warm, and given I sweat like an oinker then I'm likely go get a tad thirsty. Luckily, thanks to Carlos' generosity at Special Ops, there'll be free bottles of water around... and it's too late to do anything about this now, but I'd like to get a hydration pack for in-game refreshment for the next skirmishes. The thing is I run a battle-belt, so I'd much prefer it to be on my back and therefore it must have its own shoulder straps. It'll need to be lightweight (doesn't need a huge capacity), and easy to maintain (cos I'm lazy) And it's going to have to be cheap. I'm not entirely sure about having something 'used' from a hygiene point of view, but presumably a wash-out with sterilizing fluid will cover that. Any suggestions for what I should get? Is there something army-surplus that's a bargain? Anything to avoid, or any 'gotchas' I should be aware of? Stuff I've found so far... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204258237607 British army 3 litre camelbak (Β£25 used) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225457714960 'Cadet' 2 litre pack (Β£25 new) https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/8fields-tactical-hydration-pack-w-bladder 8fields 1.5 litre (Β£18 new) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204183957526 Konbat UK 2 litre (Β£24 new)

I just watched a video by BigBirdAirsoft about the Vorsk VP-X - he liked it. The interesting thing was that on the way he dissed all the TM 1911's he owned. I had previously read the TM's with single stack mags are generally to be avoided as they tend to have poor gas capacity and efficiency... so that's really a thing? That's a shame if so, I do have a hankering for a 'proper' 1911 (rather than a hi-capa), so I guess TM gets ruled out if so. Unfortunately, there's no [obvious] follow-up video from BigBird, so can't tell how well the Vorsk ran after the initial test. But if @EDcase's gun is still running, that's a positive, isn't it?

The 'What have you just bought' Thread
RostokMcSpoons replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Odd that they sell the motors but not the BBs. Well, they only recently-ish made the BBs available in the UK, maybe they'll expand them to Eurozone soon too. I wish they did heavyweight BBs too, as it is I've ordered some more Geoff's to get my sniper / GBBR ammo. -
The 'What have you just bought' Thread
RostokMcSpoons replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Given the ending of my current work contract, and a possible period of being a bit skint, I thought I'd invest wisely, so to add to my 5000 0.20g for plinking and test-firing... 10KG of Warhead 0.28g Bio BBs, should see my running through a good few skirmishes (especially if I turn the fun switch to semi, a bit more often) Β£105 inc next day delivery. Just over a tenner for each bag of ~3,500 BBs seems like a good deal to me. -
I had the same sort of argument when I was choosing an Eotech clone. I was at first looking at the very cheapest used ones, Β£25. I persuaded myself to spend a bit more - Β£50 for a Sotac that had received some good reviews as 'good value' - so I'd "buy once", but even then I had people here (maybe it was even CannonFodder or Rogerborg) saying that's too cheap, go for the Holywarrior at Β£100+ I went for the Sotac at Β£50, and so far it's been absolutely fine. But I know I could stick it on my GBBR and it might be fine, or it might lose zero every few shots, or it might shake itself to pieces and turn into junk. I drew my financial line in the sand, and stuck to it - whilst acknowledging in the long term that it might end up being ... unwise. There's always a "risk versus reward" choice to be made - it's your choice, but Vorsk do not have a great rep, so it seems your're heading much towards "risk" rather than "reward"...
-
Β£130 isn't all that cheap though. Is it the split slide feature you're really keen on? For another Β£30-40 you could have your pick of TMs... Edit: Feck me, barge poles are pricey! You could buy a Vorsk for that much
-
Sounds like you're keen to buy it. I say "go for it" * and let us know how it pans out. Always good to have some personal experience fed back to The Hive Mind * As long as you can afford to "buy cheap, buy twice"

I can only speak to my VFC HK416. It's a wonderful RIF in terms of feel and build quality. As for performance, I'm not sure yet - haven't actually taken it out for a skirmish or shot more than a few BBs at proper range through it (I expect this to change this coming weekend). From what I've seen of it so far, the recoil is amazing, but the power tends to be a bit variable. I suspect absolute performance will therefore be less impressive than the MWS. I've also seen some good review videos, including Bada Bing's excellent direct comparison between this and the MWS. The MWS definitely wins out on full-auto as it's less prone to cool-down effects in cold weather. (My gun is great in short bursts at room temperature but I've not personally tried mag-dumps or properly low temp shooting yet) I'd therefore pull this conclusion out of my ass, see if you like the cut of its jib: VFCs can be seen right now knocking around in the classifieds for a nice discount on the new price. MWS's tend to hold their value better, I think. That means you can maybe pick up a VFC with ~80% of the performance for maybe only 50-60% of the price. That might seem like a good deal to you - it certainly does to me - but if you want the best performance then you have to pay (over the odds) for it. So that's a decision for you. The MWS is the better RIF, but the VFC (and no doubt similar guns from other manufacturers) will be better value. Edit:. Having a squizz at the MWS thread suggests they're not immune from problems either. GBBRs are maybe a bit 'more art than science'...? π

I've got the same gun. I'm going to out on a limb here and say 'no'. Otherwise it'd be A Known Thing. But mostly because they look different. VFC... TM... Not massively different, but note the protruding gas port behind the feed lips on the TM, compared to the level equivalent on the VFC. It won't fit. It'd be lovely if all gas guns had interchangeable mags, but it ain't gonna happen. It's all about the kerching-kerching The VFC mags are out of stock everywhere in the UK, but Powair6 have them, and shipping isn't too exorbitant, so if you're desperate they're worth a go. They've also got the new Gen 3 V-Mags which are lighter, and might work better on bolt lock-back, if you're having any problems with that... https://www.powair6.com/en/gbb-magazine/36401-vfc-30rds-gen3-vmag-magazine-for-hk416-ar-gbbr.html I did set up an alert for Patrolbase, and they got stock in a month or so ago... sold out a week or two later though. I'm still deciding on whether to go HPA-tapped double mag (from Powair6) so didn't buy. https://www.powair6.com/en/stock-atelier/11842-p6-400rds-hpa-hi-cap-magazine-for-vfc-umarex-hk416-m4-gbbr.html

Yeah, surprising. Not many would knock back "4 figures"* when it's Novritsch (a name which I suspect will guarantee plenty of fan-boi positive reviews, regardless) that would mean he could get away with a review that was 'generous'. (He's still enough of a silly-billy to be test firing at a tree at very short range when not wearing eye-pro, but I guess they're his eyeballs he's risking) If there's one other good thing that comes out of that video, it's the confirmation that power does not necessarily equal greater range. And I've got a confirmation that 0.40g BBs are the way to go with my GBBR... I'll buy some more. * May include decimals... or 'inflation'

Ooohhoohhooohhhhhhh Some sex wee has definitely escaped. I want an HK53, I never knew it was a thing.... An MP5 but with AR style mags, yes please π€ Especially as a VFC GBBR, given how nice my 416 is Oh yes π€€

Do I need a Double Eagle M90xx series gun?
RostokMcSpoons replied to Speedbird_666's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Yes you're quite right the legal limit is actually 1.3j rather than the 1.13j which is the common site limit. How did that happen? To be honest with all the price increases happening, I'd pay the extra Β£8 in delivery over Patrolbase et al just to to have it now, rather than risk getting a bigger increase in the main price. And that sounds like a plausible reason to tell the wife, doesn't it? βΊοΈ -

330 on 0.25's is above the legal limit for full auto, you won't get to skirmish with that much power -

I wish my wife did tbh, as it is I can get away with buying new gnus by pointing at the piles of shoes and handbags overflowing from every cupboard, it's a double-edged sword, I tell ye!
