  1. Yes, impressive build. Not something I'd run personally (I'm happy with standard mil-spec issue, so one day I imagine my Hi Capa DOR will be considered 'a bit too bling' and get replaced by a 1911, or a Browning, or an M9), but that doesn't stop me admiring it
  2. I did go and record a video of me shooting the gun in semi and full auto, but feck me the bloody phone decided I wanted 'timelapse' mode of all things, so the videos each last about 5 frames 💩 I really can't be arsed putting the battery back in, shepherding the cat into another room, pissing off the wife as I let the cold air in again ... blah blah blah Maybe I'll do it again tomorrow.
  3. Awww thanks, but it is what it is, I've had a very good run of being paid a lot because I'm on short term contracts. My luck is maybe running out, and it's just bad timing personally (lots of reasons I won't bore everyone with). If I have to sell some stuff to get through it, so be it. It's only stuff. I can probably buy it again in the future!
  4. I'd say that's about the same as mine, IIRC. So not very consistent, unfortunately, but then I wasn't really expecting it to be. As for the job... I got an extension on my contract "yippee!" And then had it snatched away ("budget not approved") two days later. So yeah, I'll be ok for a month or two and then I'll probably have to start selling stuff 😧
  5. I can pipe up for the metal bodied M906C (which is a bit tricky to source, at the moment, I think) - How has the Falcon FCS fared? Seems like a Titan knock-off (in form factor at least) with some basic functions but I don't expect miracles for the money. It's still going strong on mine. No pre-cocking or active braking available, but the features it has work well. I've occasionally switched on binary mode - it's definitely a cheat-mode for semi-auto games so I don't actually use it in-game because it feels 'wrong' I have used burst fire mode, and it's easy to program (and reset) YT video - Related to above - Is anyone running 11.1v LiPo out of the box? Any major issues in doing so? I freaked out about the idea of 11.1v when I first got mine, but it's fine and the extra 3 or 4 rps does make a difference (even if it's mostly psychological) Currently running a Titan 3000mAH Li-Ion nunchuck in a PTS EPS stock. I do manage to run it down to empty close to the end of the day. - I hear the springs and hop units are worth replacing? My hop unit is still fine, but a ZCI rotary for £10 can't be a bad purchase. The stock rubber is quite hard, so Maple Leaf Macaron 50 degree + Omega nub sorted that. The springs are definitely made of cheese, an ASG M105 cured that. I might be a little down on power than when I first put it in though - perhaps the gearbox needs a decent bit of lube, it might be gumming up after a year and a half. Range and accuracy is still excellent with 0.28's. Even better with 0.32's. - How's the plastic on the plastic-bodied guns? Is it closer to G&G than Cyma in terms of quality and fit? I've handled some of the rental guns and they seem pretty good, but I'll let others comment! - How's the finish on the metal bodied guns? Typically thin paint? Nope, the paint has held up very well... I did have a Novritsch camo cover on much of it for most of it's life, but it didn't cover the whole gun and I took it off a couple of skirmishes ago. I run my guns on 1 and 2-point slings, and it's banging on my battle-belt for much of the time. The only silvery bits are the edges of the RIS rail where the optics go, and the front edge of the mag well. Some light scratches elsewhere but not gone through the paint, it still looks good! I frickin' love my Double Eagle. I could easily live with it as my only gun. I'll get a battery charged up and get a video of it firing done for you (tonight or tomorrow) Edit1: Not much in metal bodies to be found. Patrolbase have the fancy UTR https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/double-eagle-m916b-utr556-long-metal-handguard-version?pv=18901 (Personally, I'm finding I like the shorter barrels more for a central center of gravity, it's less tiring to hold in the aiming position, but it's a cool looking gun so hey-ho) Edit2: Oh look, good ol' BBGuns has the 906 in stock! https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/double-eagle-m906c-ar15-rifle-with-falcon-system-in-black.html Note that the standard stock on the 906C is only big enough for a single tube style battery. Stepping up to the 908 (if you can find one) gets you a crane / EPS style stock.
  6. Thanks @CheeseToastie Purely coincidentally, five minutes before reading this I was pinging a few shots from my 416 through an open kitchen window, just cos I fancied another taste of that fantastic recoil and associated aural drama. Fantastic 😍 Glad to hear the mag was good - but not surprised you missed the reloads. I do like that too, even with an AEG + high caps. Isn't one of the coolest bits of the big shootout in Heat when Val Kilmner is doing his proper reload procedure? Did you notice the HPA improving the shot-to-shot consistency, or is yours pretty good anyway? (I'm still only shooting at ~15m which doesn't give the truest picture of its performance, though it's already proven to be good at that range)
  7. ... I was hanging on your every word, you didn't say any. You left me hanging 😥 😭
  8. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284985781249 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284906238843 I know, I know, 0.20g Bio BB's, who uses them apart from Poors and Rentals? Well I thought as I'm about to qualify as a 'Poor', and at £10 posted for 5000, or £18 for 10000, they're a tidy deal It's from my local site (Special Ops) eBay shop... which I didn't know was a thing until after I'd pressed the Buy button and I noticed the seller! They're a "known" brand that works perfectly well in all my gnus. You might not have heard of "BB King" outside of the music scene, but Special Ops sell and use these on-site, and they've not jammed a gun of mine yet (oh shit, shouldn't have typed that) So these will do nicely for test-firing and back garden plinking. And if Special Ops open up the promised CQB site they might even do for that too.
  9. Me too You might hear me shout "PUSH UP!!! COME ON!!!" but I promise you I'll only do that when I'm at the front. Just don't follow me, I'll be getting properly lit up within seconds
  10. This suggests to me you're using your pistol in an anatomically inappropriate way 😋
  11. As it happens it looks like I'll have some free time on my hands, so I can spend some proper time meddling with all my guns, I'll see what's in the most need once once I've attempted another round of 'fixes' 😂, but I shall contact him for sure, thanks 👍
  12. Can I ask what sort of money he charges? I realise he caveats his own videos very heavily and says he won't give quotes before the work, but I need to have some idea of what I can expect to spend... I've got a couple of guns I'd like him to fix, primarily my piston-eating F2000 but also maybe the Tippmann - does he do HPA? Or if he could make my currently stock M14 a beast, that'd be cool. I'm actually nervous of handing over the F2000, he will probably rip the absolute piss out of my shim on the COL, on the trigger, my attempt at shimming the gears, my choice of components, my first paint job on a gnu etc etc etc ad infinitum. And then stick it in a video for everyone else to laugh at, in perpetuity.... I might not be able to live with the public shaming
  13. Oh you bugger, you're the one that kept me from that stunted-gun-goodness!
  14. The flip side is sending questions and pm's that don't get answered by the seller. I've got one pm that still hasn't been read after more than a week, on an item that hasn't been marked as sold, even after prompting with a question. Sellers, check your pm's at least daily please
  15. just a thought about the dim red dot... the battery in my VisionKing 1.25-6 died because I'd left it on... I've replaced it with a new one from my battery collection, and whereas it used to useably bright and clear, it's now very dim. I tried another battery (made by a different cheapo ebay / amazon brand) and the same result. Perhaps that first battery was a 'proper' manufacturer and putting out a bit more power?
  16. ... if only I had room in my garage (it's piled up with unused bikes, rugs, boxes of stuff, DIY materials blah blah. Can barely see from one end to the other. It's only a single garage anyway, not big enough! As for the ARU, well I certainly don't want to be the guy on the front page of the local paper spread-eagled on the ground with guns pointing at me (or worse, not pointed at me as I'm already riddled with bullets!), but I'd love to hear how careful / not bothered others here are about their garden plinking. I could go around the nearest 5 neighbours and tell them what I'm up to, and sort it that way, except my darling wife had an argument with our neighbours (the ones who own the conifer that's the effective secondary backstop if anything went over the fence). So I have to let that particular sleeping dog lie :[ The neighbours on each side are also religious so aren't super-likely to be enamoured with anything gun-related, but they've always been friendly and haven't complained even if they've worked out what I'm doing. I just wouldn't want to give them the chance to say 'nope' and shut me down altogether. It would certainly make my life easier if I could just wander around in my garden with a gnu or two, but I'm partly overlooked by 4 of those 5 neighbouring houses. So I'm a tad stymied.
  17. That's a really cool idea. I'm very, very wary of what I do with my gnus in my back garden though, I wouldn't have the bravery to go for what you've done, in case the hits were too loud, or any BB's ricocheted into a neighbour's garden. I do my target practice from inside the house (to dampen the noise from the gun, and so no-one can see the RIF), and I'm shooting at old cat scratcher pads (think multiple layers of corrugated cardboard that trap many of the BBs, and absorb the impact well). I've got a 6' fence, with a big conifer directly behind that as my backstop, but I'm still slightly nervous every time I'm shooting.
  18. Have to ask, why would you not want to use Lonex flash mags? I think they're great. As I've found with my CA Scarab, they are slightly differently designed than the Nuprol mag that came with the gun, but given the convenience of the flash mag in use, I'd rather mess with shimming the mag well than go back to standard high-caps that just happen to fit better. (The Nuprol seems quite nicely made, btw, and has the hole in the side so it can be wound up with a key - which is better than using the wheel on the base, I think. I've also had good experiences with my Classic Army high-caps, but they're old and might be manufactured differently these days. I wouldn't recommend the Battleaxe(?) mag I bought from the shop at Spec Ops, that just plain didn't fit in a couple of my gnus)
  19. Sorry to hear the HW kit disappointed. I've got one of those unfashionably cheap Visionking 1.25-5 x 26 scopes and I have to say I'm very impressed with it, but it's the only one I've ever used, so nothing to compare it to except my old 4x32 Viking air rifle scope (It's better than that!) My daughter's boyfriend who does some hunting back at his home in Bulgaria was also impressed, and I think he's got a little experience of 'real steel' optics. So it's great, but it's quite a chunk of metal, and certainly weighs a fair bit. I've rather left it for use on my sniper rifle and any DMR I might care to build or buy in the future - in the meantime even with my astigmatic and enormously short-sighted vision, I can see well further than I can shoot, so I'm happy enough with my red dot sights
  20. A good day out at Special Ops again on Sunday... an unexpected trip as I had family coming over from the New York, but their plans just happened to leave the day clear for me. Yay I took my new CA Scarab for it's first outing, but when I went to chrono it I realised I'd picked up the Nuprol high-cap instead of a Lonex flash mag. Stupidly, rather than backing out of the chrono test and going back to get a Lonex mag, I pulled out the nub I was using to shim the mag well so I could fit the Nuprol in. This rendered the gun useless for the 3 Lonex mags because I had nothing to glue it back in with Anyway, that left me with Ol Faithful, and the TM AUG HC. Everyone loves the AUG I only used it for the end of the day when I'd used up the Titan battery in the DE again... but which coincided with the marshals deciding to run the games in small areas, so semi-auto only. Which doesn't play to the gun's strengths. In fact it does show a weakness in that it doesn't feel like it enjoys being spam-fired in single repeatedly, and the selector bolt is easy to nudge into a neutral position. I'll stick the DE M906 for that in future. A few of the defensive positions have been altered since the last game, some of the cover has been removed from the church and tank areas in Ping Ping, which will probably help attackers in the future. Two things of note: One of the regulars has a technically impressive HPA setup. He was complaining that someone had complained at him for getting lit up full-auto. Turns out he was shooting at 40rps. He justified it saying "just because I can afford a good gun and he can't doesn't mean I should worry about trying to use half second bursts" (conveniently ignoring he can program his trigger to fire 3 round bursts, as he'd demonstrated on a previous day) and "I could be a cunt and turn it up to 60(rps)" Well to be honest pal, you're already being a cunt at 40 rounds a second. That's the sort of attitude that gives HPA'ers a bad name. A chap showed up with an Ares L41A1 (Lee Enfield 7.62 sniper). Oh that is a thing of beauty.... I definitely want one some day. The bolt action is smooth and is the most satisfying feel of any spring rifle I've tried so far (a small sample size, admittedly). Lovely gun, but heavy. And as the owner mentioned, the stock is so beautifully finished you really wouldn't want to get it scratched or dinged by BBs, and it'll be painful when it happens. Lovely bit of kit though 😍
  21. Is the WE's reliability in question because of the way the gun needs to be loaded with the slide locked back to prevent damage to the knocker, or are there wider issues than that? And for the record I'd definitely be a purchaser of a TM Hi-Power and an L1A1 too.
  22. The first time I put an 11.1v in a non MOSFET gnu, pulled the trigger, and saw a big sparky flash, I pretty much shat myself 😂 You're absolutely right of course, the trigger contact is a dirt cheap part, but will involve cracking open the gearbox. Which some might shy away from, so the MOSFET makes sense to have in that case
  23. I don't think I've seen an opinion on the Cybergun M4s on this forum (at least not recent enough for my dodgy memory to recall) (Mustn't mention Double Eagles) Is it just the Cybergun's that you have a coupon code for? If you're mentioning Euros then presumably you're somewhere European, are you looking at a specific retailer's site? (Must not mention Double Eagles) I googled the Hawkeye, that does look the best of 'em, just because it's got a MOSFET so you can run 11.1v batteries if you want. And full metal handguards are good, if you don't mind the small amount of extra weight Any other guns take your fancy? (Must definitely not mention Double Eagles at all) Phew, a whole post about M4s and I didn't mention Double Eagles once! That's some sort of personal record!
