  1. Here's mine, all metal, m906c with a more classic look Just £189 https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/double-eagle-m906c-ar15-rifle-with-falcon-system-in-black.html
  2. I'm so annoyed that I looked at this exact guitar stand, for my guitars... And completely failed to put 212 and 347 together to make 559 and buy one for my guns. I can only conclude I must be an idiot
  3. Narrow face, you say....? You made me hide behind the sofa, so many times! And... You have no ears, glasses won't work, better get goggles
  4. You guys know I love my DE, and I've been enamoured with all their recent releases. But that is, to use an excellent Scottish word, "howfing"
  5. I think you're perfectly entitled to to think that, but there are very few guns out there that people will leave completely untouched once they've had it for a while. Changing the hop rubber (for a softer one more suitable for our lower average temperatures), nub, maybe a ZCI hop unit, and perhaps a spring selected to hit the 350fps / 0.20g site limit are usually relatively cheap and simple to do (assuming a quick change spring system), and can give appreciable gains in performance. Once people start talking about changing barrels and motors (still relatively simple, usually, but now a bit more more expense), it's getting 'arguable'. And then the next steps are cracking open gearboxes to change pistons, gears etc... Yeah if that's required it's a step too far for a lot of people. (I went that way quite willingly, and didn't have the talent to get my project gun, an F2000, working again. It's gathering dust in my loft)
  6. We could try really hard to kill off every duplicate thread that ever starts, but I don't think that's necessarily very good for the longer-term health of a forum. Better to forgive than forbid (or something along those lines... you get my gist I'm sure)
  7. The website description does indeed sound sexy - it looks like a good mid-tier gnu in the making, if the QC is good.
  8. My usual vote of confidence in the Double Eagle. (I'm still waiting on those royalty checks, you bastards!) I've got a Cyma M14 (the full length 'Nam version, rather than the compact SOCOM variety). It does seem a pretty decent gun but I haven't gone as far as skirmishing it yet. From what I saw in the short time I've fired it at range (rather than just the 15-18m in my garden), it's a steady rather than stellar out-of-the-box performer, but it gets a lot of love here. It's a undeniably cool gun though (especially as Full Metal Jacket remains one of my favourite films) Disassembling it, even just to replace the hop-up rubber, seems a bit scarier than with other rifles. And the large quantity of plastic involved in the making a full rifle stock makes it a bit creaky. If you do choose one, I'd send it off to Luke at Negative Airsoft to do the work for you - he'll sprinkle some pixie dust in there to make it a real good 'un (by all accounts) Long-ish story short, the DE 908 would be a simpler thing to 'tech' yourself, and you'll be able to ask Fatboy for all the advice you could need. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help!
  9. So, after my Double Eagle springer died on me after a few shots, I still had an itch for a 'humiliation' / 'have a laugh' gun for my armoury. This thing popped up in the Action Hobbies boneyard for a tenner and as I've already got another itch for a 'proper' 1911 just to fidget with, this appeared to be a two-birds-with-one-stone scenario... Quite a tidy little pot-metal springer for a few quid I thought. Then I tried to look this model up on-line to see how much it normally goes for... it's made by Vigor. Plastic versions go for £12 brand new, and the 'all metal' is a mere £17 !!! (Probably not this exact model. I couldn't find one with the crosses on the hand-grip. Which are ridiculous, but then again it's cheesy enough to fit in with the intended 'humiliation' usage ☺️) So not actually much of a bargain in the pricing then. The real surprise though is how it shoots - really quite well! It's got a fixed hop-up because the thing has no trouble popping shots (0.20g) at > 17m. The fact it's perhaps slightly over-hopping is about the only thing stopping me from hitting an A4 target with any consistency. It shoots better than the DE spring rifle I had! (Loading the BBs into the mag is a bit weird and awkward though) If there's any out there who wants to carry a secondary just for the looks and the occasional close-range or last ditch shot, well, maybe the Vigor pistols are worth a pop... of course this might shit the bed at any minute, I'll let you know
  10. Don't worry, DE still make some shitty old springers But there are threads for the new ones, you can see they're not full of people complaining about them, though the stock spring is made of cheese and will need replacing. And the stock hop rubber is tough as old boots, so might as well chuck in something a bit more malleable to hop 0.28s and up ... one I started, which has some accuracy and upgrade tests
  11. Haha take a wild guess Wavey Akshully... I'm technically not holding it with my hands... it's between my knees, and I'm using my hands With Realistic Gripping Fingers (tm)(c) to do up the nut. But I appreciate there's quite a difference in the amount of torque I can apply.
  12. Well I've taken the mag apart again a couple of times, but I can't make it even as good as it was originally (and it's sometimes a lot worse), however much I tighten the screws / bolts / valves. I'm going to send it back for LandWarrior to fix or replace. Ho hum, this airsofting lark is never entirely easy! On a different note, my stock sometimes decides to a bit askew. I've tightened the nut down as much as I can with my AR tool, but obviously it's easy to apply quite a lot of twisting force on the stock itself which loosens it off a tad, allowing the stock to move. I can see as part of the receiver there's a little spring, but that doesn't seem to do much, especially as it's got trapped and bent in half whilst trying to escape at some point in its life... There's the small hole in the sling plate that looks like a detente catch or locking pin could go into - but that doesn't line up with the spring - so I'm at a loss. I do have some Loctite thread lock knocking around somewhere - should I use a tiny bit of that to keep the nut in place?
  13. No personal experience of either... One of them makes bargain price GBBRs which might be worth a try, but really I'd place Double Eagle on a higher tier of value/quality There are quite a few DE Fan Bois here 😎
  14. Ahem. (Double eagle says 'hello' 😋)
  15. I'm in Milton Keynes, and although I'm not really in the market for a new gnu I'm quite happy to verify that it's a decent pistol....?
  16. Thanks, sensible words. I've got all the tools, including the valve key, just not the skills, or the luck 🥲 I'll have another go before I send it back. I'll stick with the 0.40s as I don't want to have too many varieties of ammo knocking around, I hated having 0.20, 0.25, 0.28 as I'd inevitably forget what mags contained which ammo! Your English is very good, wish I could speak more languages...
  17. Yes the lightness of the loader means the retention really doesn't need to be very strong. On my last skirmish I needed easy access to my speed loader as I was running just two 30rnd mags with my GBBR, so I stuffed it into a spare plastic FAST mag pouch that was already on my belt. I didn't lose it. It wasn't very tight held, so at lunchtime I wrapped some cloth tape around it so it gripped in the pouch a little better. As a bonus it made it a little less rattly too.
  18. I'm really not cut out for this tech'ing lark, I can follow instructions, but I seem to be just... unlucky with it. I've stripped the leaky mag down to its individual parts, greased / oiled everything, and re-assembled. It's now much worse than it was before The leak still seemed to be the knocker valve initially. I've now taken the damned thing apart multiple times, making stuff ever-tighter ... I wonder if I've over-tightened something, but the o-rings and gaskets don't show obvious signs of damage. It is holding a tiny bit of gas, once the pressure has lowered after the initial fill (where most of the gas is escaping is now coming through the magazine catch slot), but I can still hear it leaking even with hardly any gas inside. Bah humbug, I'll send it back for a fresh one. Edit: Another video of the TNT system, looks good
  19. To be fair, this gun is so great, if I'm going to spend money on 'upgrades' it'll be on this one now 😎
  20. I've received a reply from LandWarrior, giving me the go-ahead to re-oil all the o-rings, as I'm happy to try it myself ... so let's see if I get a good result from that too...
  21. Steady on, that's a hefty investment! Are you sure you want blue, isn't orange more tacti-cool? Damn it, they don't do orange, perhaps at DavesCustomAirsoft?
  22. I do need to check the 0.40s will be lifted properly at long range, but the hop is definitely affecting the trajectory properly at 17m at least, and given the spare performance we've got available, I should imagine it'll lift alright, even with the stock components. I saw a YT video where someone mentioned the TNT system, they highly recommended it, but £125 is definitely a bit 'ouchy'. I found a comment on Reddit suggesting that a Maple Leaf bucking and nub will do much of the work for a lot less money. We'll give that a go, eh? Edit: The TNT bucking is available separately, and doesn't seem to indicate that it needs to be paired with the replacement hop unit, so maybe worth a try ...? https://www.wgcshop.com/en-jp/products/t-n-t-aps-x-t-hop-bucking-for-vfc-m4-gbbr-2-pieces-set Edit2: Nah, I think aps-x is the name of their system, so it will be specific. BadaBing did a review, it seems to work better at higher FPS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHhm7Y8hAa4
  23. ... while you here, Mr Commando, have you tweaked anything on your '416? I did ask in an earlier post if it's worth replacing the hop rubber, or anything else, but I have to say my as-good-or-better-than-AEG group I got with 0.40's means I might not need to do anything really... but useful advice is always welcome!
  24. Awwww c'mon chaps, give the guy a tiny break I'm thinking he either wants to generate content for sites to promote themselves, for which he'll charge a fee. Well it's an interesting business proposition, though unlikely to be particularly lucrative, given the size of the market. At least it'd be making a bit of pocket-money to help him fund his gear. Or he wants to hone his video editing skills whilst promoting the sport of airsoft. In which case 'go ahead', surely? Either way, no need to golden-rain on his parade already, just cos he's been a bit.... 'enthusiastic' You old cynics! * * Venn diagram of 'old' and 'cynic' usually includes me squarely in the middle, but I'm obviously feeling generously 'fluffy' today
