  1. I use an AceTech Bifrost on the rifle and a Xcortech XT301 mk2 on the pistol (for holster compatibility). Very tempted to get a predator for the MK18. Light wise, I've a variety of surefire clones for rifles and pistols and they all do the job well, but I did splash out on an Olight Odin for the MK18 as it's such a lovely pew it deserves nice accessories too - I can certainly see the difference too.
  2. There was me thinking all the pimped hi-capas on here were crazy money but it seems Patrol Base want a piece of the action - WTF?
  3. I just use green gas or whatever a brand's equivalent is. I fitted an NPAS early on so can adjust to the differences between brands if it's an issue, temperature changes are why I installed it though.
  4. Have you had the motor out before? there's a chance it picked up the extra screw in the factory. Chuck it in the box of bits and then at least you can find it if it turns out it has a home.
  5. BBguns4less seem to have a 'Skirmish Tactical Pro' in large which is allegedly 1m long. I originally thought about Nuprol's large case but it's 1.09m long, 8cm too big. Of course I could stop being so lazy and collapse my stocks, thus making the medium case an option (tape measure dependent of course) - albeit I might need two.
  6. Thanks, now to find a case that'll fit a 77cm rifle but is 101cm or less in length (the width of my boot). The search begins .....
  7. Loving the case layouts, it's really making me want to upgrade my rifle bags. At the risk of derailing the thread, is there a case with multiple layers in it? or are they all a relatively standard depth?
  8. My 308's a G2, I've not had the gearbox apart so can't comment on gears. It is however, ridiculously easy to make use of the fact it's already got an electronic trigger and fit a Perun ETU++, which is what I've done. If it gives me a reason to open the box up then maybe I'll think about something else, until then it's fine as it is.
  9. I've found AliExpress to be useful when looking for cheap sights, the latest being a SIG Romeo8 which is on my MP7. They're all pretty easy to dial in, I use a formula so I can do it indoors at shorter distances. It works out the offset you need, I then draw two crosses on a target, one's the aim point and the other's where the BB should hit. I got it from the Recon Brothers website, they used to have a calculator on there but now they just tell you the formula. You can either do this the old fashioned way with BBs or with a bore sighter
  10. I enjoyed that too, keeps things sensible and doesn't provoke the opposers into shouting about people running around the streets with toy guns and turning the place into a war zone. From my visits to RIFT they're well run too.
  11. Rum and pineapple's a good combo, cut up a pineapple into big chunks, soak them in rum and then do them on the BBQ - tasty! Have had a few rum's, although I go through a lot more bourbon & whisky. Two bottles on the go at the mo, Mount Gay and Cape Cornwall Spiced which is like drinking christmas cake - not everyone's taste but I like it.
  12. Just found out someone (aged 25) in our office always watches TV with the subtitles on. General consensus is that this is a bit left-field.

Straw poll so far suggests this is specific to the 22-30 age range.

    Do you?

Subtitles on video games for me. I struggle to play a narrative based game without them - currently revisiting Fallout 4 after 6-7 years and it's the first thing in the options that I enabled.

      TV/Movies, not so much.

We do it all the time, with everything.
It's because the dialogue level on a normal TV is shit - so if we have it at a volume where we can actually hear the dialogue, it disturbs the kids trying to get to sleep.
It's also pretty cool when there's stuff you read that you wouldn't have a chance of hearing. For example, a character on screen answers the phone and you get to hear what the person on the other end is saying (sometimes).

    Which MP7?

TM MP7 user here. It's a TM so it's lovely - what is it they say about good things coming in small packages? (that's what I tell Mrs M anyway 😉) Have got the aftermarket sling mount, just because you need one anyway just to sensibly use a sling. Mine's not exploded yet, if it does I'll fix it, might have a look for a CNC back plate though. I find when you have this kind of decision to make, go with the one you like the look of. No point getting a TM because of their magic if it's just going to bug you that it's a tad smaller.
  14. You could get scientific, empty a mag, weigh it, fill it and weigh it again. But even then, mags are different and sometimes you get more in than others, because that's the real world. I just carry more than one can of gas in my bag, when one runs out, replace it and carry on. I'm filling 4 different types of mag and life's just too short to be thinking about how many fills I'm getting - as has been said, lots is the answer Just seen you're talking about the smaller bottles, are you thinking field refilling and you only have room for one bottle? In that case have a spare in your bag and then when the game zone bottle get's a bit light relegate it to safe zone duties and start a fresh can (you could go as far as weighing an empty can if that's your thing).
  15. I got my MK18 from Fire Support. I seem to remember Surplus Store being reasonable but the deal with three extra mags is a good one. I contacted FS about mags at the time and they confirmed the only difference between M4 and Type 89 MWS mags is the look. I got extra mags on eBay of all places, mainly because I prefer the look of the M4 mag. If you're looking to turn your M4A1 into a MK18 then there are some posts in this thread that would be worth you finding, although if you're planning to buy the stuff straight away you may find it more cost effective to just get a MK18 .... which is out of stock by the look of it. Fire Support's stock alerts are pretty timely though, that's how I landed mine.
  16. Sounds like you've come to the right conclusion, you can scratch your GBB itch at a later date. Cost of entry into the GBB game is eyewatering, a sidearm is a cheaper way in as you use it less and therefore can get away with less mags, but it's certainly not a necessity or a replacement for a rifle. You can prepare yourself for getting a GBB by getting mid-caps, or even lo-caps. I use 100rnd midcaps on my 308 but still have my emergency hi-cap as a last mag. It was actually then that I found that 200 rounds does me just fine in most games, so I bought enough gas mags to cater for that and a bit of extra on top. I see you have an MP5K, how may shots are you using most games? All that said, I love my MK18 and MP7 GBBs!
  17. If you do end up keeping it in your room it'll stand you in good stead, nowadays I'm mainly hiding new kit from the Mrs 😂
  18. Can you use an M4 as a DMR - yes. Hell, some people have MK23's set up as DMR's. Are there different rules for DMR's - yes. It depends on the site but at the very lease you'll have an MED due to the higher power and you'll need to be able to lock it to semi only. After that things can vary a bit more from site to site, eg physical / electronic locking to semi and type of RIF (and even then it may depend on whether you're doing a skirmish or milsim etc). Essentially, check the rules of whatever site you frequent the most and do that. My 308's a short-barreled one and I use it under 1.13j for CQB 😁
  19. What’s the difference between a pick-pocket and a peeping tom? One snatches your watch and the other watches your snatch.
  20. Had a chameleon once that couldn’t change colour. Turns out it had a reptile dysfunction.
  21. Personally, I'm like you and my pews are the same colours that they & their parts came in. Yes, there are plenty of examples of the custom paint job being one that was done to hide a pews two-tone origins and these are usually of a certain, somewhat poor quality. But then there are other examples where the pew is an expression of the owners personality or painted up because black isn't exactly camouflaged in the woods, there are some really nice paint jobs out there that would make me think twice about painting mine. That said, I have nowhere near the skill set to do a decent job and it'd end up looking worse than terrible so I'll just stick with black.
  22. This .... that and a friend in Goods In at work that also plays. Blew his mind when I got a pew delivered to work, he'd assumed it had to be sent to your UKARA address
  23. Welcome! As everyone's said, rent first. By the time your UKARA's sorted you'll know whether it's for you or not and will have probably had a go on some other people toys so will also have a much better idea of what you want. You'll lose plenty of money if you buy a two-tone and then decide you don't like being shot at, or buying an M4 and then realising you'd rather an AK. Research stuff and ask questions, there's plenty of knowledgeable folk about and we really don't mind passing that on - use the search function first though as sometimes we're a grumpy bunch and you may find the first answer is along those lines with a link to the relevant thread. Decide on your budget too, it's very easy to become very poor in this game because we're all essentially the airsoft equivalent of magpies trying to hoard pews, n+1 and all that. Mags, batteries, chargers, gas, scopes, grip, sling, chest rig, boots, eyepro, facepro etc etc all cost money and there's no point blowing your wad on a pew if you can't use it for a few months because you can't afford mags - unless that's your plan of course. Me, I'm not that patient! If you really think you're in it for the long haul and want to scratch that itch and buy stuff than I'd recommend getting non-shooty things that'll help as a rental - you may not like the rental PPE so eye & face protection would be sensible, as would a pair of boots and gloves.
  24. I remember watching a YT vid before I did mine but can’t find it right now. It was all pretty straight forward though, what took the most time was adjusting it to get the joule output that I wanted.
  25. I've played a fair bit of CQB and my local site initially tested only on 0.2's, but saw the error of their ways and now you test on the setup you plan to use. They'll pop a few BBs out of your mag to check the weight, they even have more than one chrono so no-one needs to faff about changing the BB weight settings. This leads to an efficient chrono and eliminates any joule creep issues as the game setup is the one that is measured rather than an inaccurate one set by the sites rules (which is a bit of an own goal tbh). I'm not a fan of HPA because a gunbilical cord isn't my thing, but from what I can make out the issues with HPA stem from either Joule creep due to testing inadequacies (see how my local site started out), or the operator willfully abusing the system and not being caught. In an ideal world everyone would understand joule creep and understand that if a site were testing on 0.2's then they would need to be under the limit if they were planning on using 0.3's. In an ideal world our honour system would enough to stop a post-chrono regulator tweak even being considered. But it's not an ideal world is it. At the end of the day, it's your site, your rules. Stoke's miles away from me and I'll probably never visit; I'm sharing my experiences and some thoughts on chrono and levelling the field. Do what you like, but I find simple rules are easier to understand, follow and police - 1.14j on the ammo you're using is all you need to say. Also, I can't believe no-one's mentioned shotguns in four pages! Are you really doing survival horror properly if you don't have a short-barreled shottie? 😁 All the best with the Seige though 👍
