  1. that's exactly what i'm talking about. i doubt it'd work so well for regular skirmish days given the difficulty in maintaining even very simple rules, but i can see a game with a bunch of decent folks running that kind of ruleset being pretty fun. although that said any airsoft game with a bunch of decent folks tends to be fun regardless.
  2. the opposite, they amplify noise so you're more likely to hear hits...
  3. unfortunately i can sympathise with this, over here there are folk who can fail to call a 40-mike..... flat 1j limit is a tricky one, on the one hand yes you can just blast at any range and not worry about what bb weight or med you're using. but on the other hand it basically cuts out the practicality of some guns, particularly bolties and machine guns (meaning properly weighted things not those stupid all plastic m249's). i reckon the 1.3/2.5j limit is probably about right, although if i were god of airsoft i'd be interested in seeing caliber/weight based limits, to try and get guns being used more in their proper roles.
  4. at least with the maxx unit it's easy enough to add the tracer module on later if you feel like it. i'm still waiting for their stop on empty system to come out, that would be nice to have working.
  5. Just call it a training regime edit: in reference to duck's meme
  6. surprised he didn't mention the frankly excellent camo job, i can barely see it!
  7. that's some confidence given your postings in the whats your weakness thread.....
  8. another one of the golden rule of airsoft, however many weeks a retailer says it'll take, well that's how many months it'll take.
  9. surprised i missed this. i've not worked much on ares guns, but what i have didn't impress me much, not surprising it needed work but looks like it's coming together nicely. some good highlights though for what things like poor aoe can do to a gun. looks like a standard m4 hop? very much a blessing that.
  10. i've lost count of the amount of instances of someone getting salty because they assume that because i'm able to hit them that they should be able to hit me when the reality is they're dropping 10m short
  11. i really should stop extolling the virtues of heavy ammo to people, dont want the playing field too level.....
  12. And there we thought bog roll would be the currency of the apocalypse, turns out its omega nubs

look, it's easier to have them sitting around in case i get something new, or i'm working on a mates gun and i've got something good to throw in there.....

I managed to get my omega nub for my VSR just before they went out of stock everywhere 😅

got plenty of official Maple Leaf ones and the clone hard and soft packs...when I spoke to AST though they said they were having a hard time getting them produced at the moment

  13. see new players i can understand, but if i had a penny for every time i rocked up to the chrono running the heavies only to get quizzical looks of "that's a bit low isnt it?", kinda worrying really that sites don't get it.
  14. it amazes me that nimh batteries are still a thing, i mean i considered them old hat about 5 years before i started airsoft and that was over a decade ago now. although that said people still think 330fps on an 0.4g is the same as 330fps on 0.2g, people are still ree'ing for tm's (just the recoil now), and the systema guys got replaced by the hpa guys.
  15. indeed, it's surprising given you can actually see where bb's are going that people still fall for it. these days even though i'm familiar enough with my hardware i have a pretty damn good idea where my shots are going even when they're going beyond the distance i can track them, i still give folk the benefit of the doubt unless i actually see the shot land. of course this is where magnification can come into play to extend the range you can be sure you've landed a hit, but at extreme range you then open up the possibility of legitimate no-feels.
  16. Finally got around to putting an actual hop unit in the f2000. Modded an old king arms unit with an stub of inner barrel and it seems to actually work. Of course it being the f2000 it'll go from firing every shot with a 1fps deviation at home to feeding 1 shot in ten about 100fps under on the field.
  17. If its anything like what i've met before it'll be along the lines of "i had him in the scope at 9x so i must have hit him"
  18. Take a look at the pics. Looks fucked to me, in fact i'd be worried about whatever impact did that damaging the rest of the gun
  19. fair point, maybe got lazy sticking on the reflective pad thing
  20. reckon maybe it's the trigger block that's sticking rather than the mosfet.
  21. what are we thinking? £50 above retail for a semi only gun is what i'm reading here
  22. i did try that just to ensure i didnt end up with green fingers next game day so they're pretty well stuck as is. ahh well, nothing major, worst case it's all bits i can replace.
  23. good to know, although my parts ended up too dark so i doubt i'll be able to bring them back, but will bear in mind for future.
