  1. the hop unit itself should be fine, especially if it's original. maybe a couple of pics looking into the feedlips/down the barrel might help in case there's anything obvious?
  2. hmm this is an interesting challenge, damnit you've got me staring at pictures on forgotten weapons trying to figure out how to do it. i'm trying to think of ways to get gas routed into the external gas tube as that means building the cycling mechanism as-is. problem is i can't see a way of doing it that doesn't involve a very long travel time (which is gonna murder gas effeciency)
  3. you could try turning the hop all the way off then on a bit. sometimes hop off gives a misleading reading as the bb starts rolling too soon. it sounds similar to the issue i've had that was with ml rubbers and feedlips interfering with feeding, but iirc you said you'd pulled the ml rubber out for the stock one?
  4. oh for sure the stuff the yanks can get their mitts on is pretty serious ordinance, my point was that in the event of them needing to fight against a government deploying the us army then that's going to be a very one-sided fight.
  5. you're missing an opportunity here, you can be a middleman for folk wanting to order from shops that wont ship to the uk
  6. the day when the government wants to come take their guns away. because an ar-15 is gonna do a stellar job against the bradley they send round to stop people trying any funny business.
  7. that's the plan, the one on arnies goes into some decent detail, certainly enough for me to think the issues are manageable. always a case of context though, for example i don't mind if a pistol shits itself in winter so i'm happy with WE stuff but other folks would hate them for that.
  8. should be, although i don't know what customs are gonna be like with the new arrangement, in theory it should be fine but you know what civil servants are like.
  9. yeah, they mean one of those "any notes eg leave the package in the coal bunker" type boxes but it's further in the order process than you can get at the minute because they wont let you ship to the uk.
  10. y'know looking at that picture again, the gas tube looks a bit thin for my original plan of having the reservoire in there. so maybe we're back to square 1 in terms of thinking about something like an m14 action.
  11. Yeah maybe a dedicated project thread might be better. As for materials as with all airsoft guns "chinese pot metal" is the safest assumption so welding is probably gonna be tricky. Cant recall the charlton specifically but i thought it used the original bolt handle as a lug? Or am i thinking of one of the other conversions.
  12. Are you sure you're ok? I mean i know lockdown has us all a little riled up but you might want to stop before you become a speedsofter and we'll have to excommunicate you.....
  13. yeah, @Asomodai was saying a bunch of folks dont like it. took a look at the review on arnies and tbh a lot of the issues are stuff i can fix/live with. for my needs if i can slap a ml autobot in there and lob at least one magful of .32's before refilling i'm happy.
  14. fair point, although still quite the gap to make up.
  15. are you uk based? because i have a nagging feeling 360fps on .25's is gonna raise some eyebrows at chrono......
  16. brings our running total up to 670, which by the usual 60% yeilds £400 it's interesting when you compare it to other sales in the hpa section:
  17. are you wanting this for the looks and damn the side-effects, or are you wanting it as a practical tool? because if it's the latter then tbh a shotgun or a rifle are fine, but strapping one to the other is just going to make both less effective.
  18. kinda sounds like it's a job for a second X-access?
  19. the amount of times the makarov gets confused for a pp...... i suppose in fairness it's a pretty blatant copy, although granted internally the russians did a lot of simplifying work to the point it's more of a derivative than a clone. if anything it's impressive they managed to do anything to simplify a simple blowback pistol.
  20. tbh i'd view it as the most inviting challenge to do it properly and have the mechanism rotating and blowing back. the issue really is how to get the blowback to push the action rod back, hence thinking perhaps having the mechanism inside the gas tube, not sure on the diameter but maybe you can get a single co2 cartridge in there, or have the thing as a big gas reservoir.
  21. I mean that because a lot of guns have locking mechanisms that aren't very visible in operation, the gbbr version doesn't need to have any mechanism to replicate it. Hence mentioning the m14 as one of the main exceptions from the top of my head because the fake bolt has to rotate. Compared to the charlton where the whole point is you can see everything moving in a symphony of steampunk awesomeness
  22. not sure geoffs branding works in box form though, looks kinda medicinal. i mean it is medicinal but not for the person using them
  23. wait, you made a bunch of cardboard ammo boxes? that's both weird and cool in equal measure
