Absolute Airsoft in Reading. What Is it Like?
EDcase replied to Groot's topic in Skirmish Sites, Stories & Reviews
@furylemon97, try somewhere else to compare. Absolute was actually my first site and got my first UKARA there. I thought it was OK until I tried other places. 'Red Alert' is good nearby and so is Skirmish Wycombe' a bit further. -
That's the first video I've seen of his. I'll be looking through his others π

Essentially it cannot be seen by the public even in your own property. (Actual case of police being called because a person saw a pistol through a house window)

Appreciate the thought Oneshotscott π As said plenty of times in different ways π FPS vs Joules both rely on correct BB weight being calculated and this is almost impossible to enforce. (Sites can hand out test BBs but time and cost make that very rare) The best thing we can do is make sure the sites you go to actually chrono and encourage random testing through the day. Boycott sites that do not chrono so they get the message.
-
Sorry to hear that gasman. Not the best time of year for it anyway.
-
I think its more of an issue using the players BBs because with both testing methods you can't be sure they tell the correct BB weight. It would be ideal for the site to provide some BBs for testing but the cost and added time at chrono makes it difficult. (I know some sites do it) Anyone who wants to cheat can still do a bit by setting hop to max before chrono anyway.

Same thing. Changing an IF to a RIF.
-
You can own a RIF without UKARA if someone gives it to you as a gift. Changing an IF to a RIF by painting it black or changing parts is technically illegal but if used properly for airsoft no one will care. But if its ever spotted by the public and police are called, you'll have some tough explaining to do...

π Is Sam still playing?

DON'T use it with Co2 π¬ That will end with a catastrophic failure. A pistol has to have a Co2 nozzle valve to function properly and a strong slide to withstand the recoil. Pistols sold with a Co2 mag will be configured for their use. Is THIS the magazine you need? According to THIS, the HFC can use TM, WE, KJW and Taurus mags. Some may be a bit tight but will cycle. I applaud your scruples Maybe keep it for spares. Certain parts may be reusable with other pistols...

It does sound like its not filling properly. How did you purge it? Its quite normal for GBBs to vent as they use the last bit of gas when there isn't enough pressure to close the valve. Don't use WD40 except for cleaning things as its more of a de-greasant than lubricant. Take out the valves and soak in silicone oil. Check O-rings and replace if you can. (Spare generic O-ring packs are available) Worst case, you can also try to find a replacement output valve. I think KJW might be compatible but best to check that. Take apart the piston and clean it up. (Its not very difficult) Ragged nozzle indicates it hasn't been feeding well but shouldn't affect actual firing. Check the Hop rubber hasn't been damaged. For everyone I'd advise getting some fill valve O-rings, also known as silent fill O-rings. They fit into the outer fill valve and prevent any leaking while filling. You can find them in airsoft supplies but THESE are the same for a lot less money.

Yeah, just enjoy what you've got π Mid caps are a good compromise between ammo count and cost.

I'm using a Lonex BAW (L4-01) which is amazing but unfortunately really hard to find now. Alternatives would be BOLT and TokyoMarui NGRS GBBs do tend to destroy themselves after some time but parts can usually be replaced without much difficulty. Again, TMs tend to be made from better materials that last longer. The downside of GBBRs in games is the expense of magazines and lack of ammo compared to the one-man-army hi-caps.

Not heard of any incidents in airsoft but there are many cases of Li-Po's in other devices catching fire from phones to 'hover' boards. Sometimes while charging and sometimes just being used normally. I've set one off by hammering a nail into a puffy battery to kill it before throwing away. It did actually explode but I think that will only happen with such extreme structural damage. ie shorting all layers at the same time. In most cases its a rather violent chemical fire that builds in intensity as the battery is consumed. It may be very rare for airsoft sized batteries but its not worth taking any risks with something that could end so badly. I use a baking tray because I don't like the idea of a potential build-up of gases in a bag if something goes wrong. My desk is near the charging area so keep an eye on things when charging and have a powder fire extinguisher next to me.
-
Give em a little test in a gun. If they haven't swollen or distorted they should be OK. Make sure to keep them in a safe place the next time you charge them. (LiPo bag or metal tray)

Very true. You don't need to spend a lot to have fun. I'm very happy with the performance of my various JG and CYMA models. BUT Once you try a recoil... π

Wow, a motor that can play a numerical puzzle game π
-
Welcome mate. Yeah, its a good place for banter and info π If you have a question, do some searches first as most things have come up before π

Yes, as with punches, weapons can be pointed slightly off target for certain shots but I believe this one was directly in front so would not work that way. Sometimes for close shots a pane of Lexan is used to protect the target, often the camera itself. But in this case if a real bullet was involved that wouldn't have helped much.

I think the accessories you mentioned are OK. Not sure about pistols or rifles though. If you have a UKARA number it might be OK but not sure on that.

Sounds entirely the fault of the armourer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed. I heard there may have been some illegal procedures going on (probably to cut costs) The actors will be given basic handling and safety instructions but not how to check if a round is live or not. They practice a scene and then are handed the 'prop' then its ACTION and they do their thing. Absolutely no responsibility on Alecs' part or the actor who killed Brandon Lee. But they must live with the self imposed guilt.
-
What about all the thousands of films where actors pointed guns at others and fired... If he wasn't meant to then that's different. I don't actually know the details.
