I certainly don't think Alec has any responsibility in this incident. Actors have no requirement for weapon knowledge and being anti-gun we can expect he knows very little. In fact, armourers prefer when actors do not manipulate the guns on their own. I don't believe a real bullet was involved but if so then one or more people must go to jail for extreme negligence and stupidity. The only way a real bullet could have been used is if the gun was a revolver because a semi-auto that can fire real ammo would not work with blanks. I haven't checked the latest details but since several people were injured I imagine the projectile broke up exiting the barrel (due to the obstruction) and acted like a shotgun blast of shrapnel. They would have much less energy than a real bullet but still enough to damage sensitive areas like face and neck.

When using the cable with ours it will run out of power but lasts longer than using the battery alone. I think the longest my son used it was around 3 hours straight.

I used to have a film prop Uzi and the barrel had a U bend designed into the breech so that there was no linear path for a projectile or debris out of the barrel and it could develop enough back pressure to cycle. (I never got to use it because the blanks weren't available)

Welcome buddy 🖐 Wow Driver Wood is quite a shlep for you coming from North London. If you ever head West to Skirmish Wycombe (High Wycombe) I might see you there. (Gamble has been known to show up there too 😉)

Much as I love WE, all the comparison videos between the Galaxy and AA-P01 show the AA to be better. Its also cheaper and takes Glock mags from all manufacturers.

Film blank prop guns are completely different to publicly available ones. (in UK) Prop guns have a partial restriction in the barrel to increase back pressure but gas is vented from the barrel like a real gun. Public sector blank guns vent vertically from a hole in the top of the barrel. I'm going to assume the cause of this accident was similar to that which killed Brandon Lee... (It was the fault of the armourer for not checking the barrel properly) In one scene they used prop rounds in a magazine or being loaded etc. These may be real round which are inert or plastic ones that look like real bullets. Unfortunately a plastic bullet came off the shell and stuck in the barrel. When blanks were used in another scene the plastic bullet was fired and broke apart when it hit the barrel obstruction but the bits that exited still had enough energy to kill at close range. Nothing like this can happen with consumer blank firers except if someone purposely pushed something into the vent hole. Even then it probably wouldn't have enough energy to cause serious harm.

I've never had a problem with Parcel Force Worldwide Express 48 👍 Tried Hermes a couple of times and NEVER again 👎 Use THIS site to book at good prices.

In the video above you can see they open the bolt and hold it open with their thumb when the barrel is inspected. That's as safe as you can get. As far as airsoft goes, if the battery is out on an AEG or the magazine out of a GBB then its as safe as it can be. The only danger is thinking its been made safe when it hasn't. So its important to always check there is no battery or magazine.

Yeah, its bad handling but not the worst.

What are your other AEG's? That's where a MOSFET is used. I'm sure someone here can tell you which one you would need for the Vector though I believe its a pain to fit one in that gun.

Yeah, thats a good point. There are several stages of seriousness depending on the age of the 'trainee' 1. Nerf 2. Airsoft 3. Air-pistol/rifle 4. Rimfire 5. Centrefire The earlier they start the less serious the consequences of messing up. Of course the person teaching needs to have some basic knowledge to pass on or do their own research when they start alone. Unfortunately there are many who have not been taught properly or not learned for themselves so accidents will happen. In the case of actual weapons such as rimfire and centrefire the user would have to be part of a club or get some training before owning one. Probably the most dangerous would be air weapons which can certainly kill and can be bought over the counter with no real restrictions.

Eek. those were steel too

OMG you're so lucky it wasn't loaded otherwise you probably wouldn't be around to tell the tale 😖 Airsoft is a great way to teach weapon safety to the young and ingrain the muscle memory for correct handling. That is IF the parent teaches the youngun properly...

I think the 'template' helps 😉 -

Dedicated dad 😉 Wouldn't it be easier to make yourself? Just download and print some things from here or here -
Personally I would advise against using an 11.1 with anything other than a blowback system. As noted by our esteemed Druid, 11.1 will wear parts faster especially using auto. Semi is better but if something does go out of alignment in the firing sequence, the consequences will likely be worse.

Patrolbase are one of the best 👍

As above. They rebrand the cheapest products they can source. Gas is about the only thing worth buying from them. Batteries may be OK but definitely stay away from their chargers. (Decent batteries include: Vapex, KongPower, Turnigy) Look at SkyRC for decent Li-Po chargers. Nuprol recently made a deal with WE to distribute in Europe/UK so some guns may OK but better to buy WE branded ones directly.

Interesting thanks Fatboy40 I bet the rabbit hole becomes a warren with unofficial supply deals between them.

The WE Katanas are in HongKong and won't ship to UK 🙄

Golden Eagle is JG Works I suspect Double Eagle are related but haven't found anything concrete on that.

Yep, the general advice is to use it until something breaks or you notice a particular component underperforming.

I don't see any you should avoid. I'm happy with my SpecnaArmsEdge but some people have reported problems with them. I tend to think G&G are expensive for what you get but they are highly regarded by many. Not heard of Saigo Defense but you can't buy from iwholesales anyway (Unless you managed to set up an account with them) Best to get some hands-on before considering the Para-Aug. Its quite back heavy and takes some getting used to. Have a look at the JG range as they make good low cost polymer guns that shoot quite well. CYMA also make decent budget (lighter) guns As BigStew mentioned, consider an MP5 or similar sub-machinegun. Shorter barrels in airsoft do not determine max range as they do in real weapons. There is some correlation between length and range but there are many factors that affect the range apart from barrel length.
