If you do, I hope you have better luck than I did.

As I posted in the "what have you bought" thread earlier in the week, I recieved my m249 and gas box mag from SWIT,  only to find that some incompetent customs inspector has snapped the front sight off the gun and used a screwdriver to break off the end plate of the box mag, rather than just releasing the securing tabs

I was hoping to run mine this weekend,  but I will be unable to do so as I may be required to ship it back to SWIT as part of their claims process.

End of the day, z/wagner shit is claiming hundreds+ lives every day, even today, on both sides, & let's not forget that some of those Russians aren't there out of choice, & others may have gone there having been misled by the dictatorships "free" media & state propaganda.
On that basis, no site should be allowing these patches to be worn on gamedays, in 30+ years you might get away with them being part of a viable loadout (but I doubt it), but in 2023 they're just symbols of oppression & murder on a massive scale.

The VAST majority of guns used by criminals come from theft of legally owned weapons. If there are less legally owned guns there will be less illegally owned guns.

As for the "good guy with a gun" theory, it's been disproved plenty of times. The "2.5 million a year" figure has no actual evidence to back it up.

Honestly just forget about doing anything at all, it doesn't matter once its in your hands, the defence is to buy, owning it doesn’t break any laws , if you’ve bought it and its not two tone then your not going to have a firearms team storm your home over it, as long as your not a dickhead and go waving it around down the street that is

    To sell.

I mean, point taken, but let's be absolutely clear that if he's 18+ then there's no offence committed by buying, or attempting to buy, a RIF within the UK.

If he's under 18, someone call the UKARA police.

    Yeh - this.

The VCRA is about the Import, manufacture and selling of RIFs, not ownership. The defense is to satisfy the seller that you are a legit airsofter.

The seller fucked up - not your problem - you don't need to paint your gun.

Enjoy it - responsibly!, and enjoy the additional resale value when it comes to selling it in future, as two-tone always command lower 2nd hand prices.

I once designed a couple of weekend immersive military experiences.

In version 1, participants would arrive in the dark, ideally while it was raining, and would be sent off to dig slit trenches on the edge of a field.  Once they had settled into their slit trenches and were just starting to heat up their ration packs, they would be ordered to move out immediately.  On arrival at their new location, the process, or a similar one, would be repeated.

Keep doing this until endex and then send them home.

The alternative to this was to stick them in a barracks for a weekend, complete with ironing boards, irons, boot polish and all the other wonderful bits and pieces.  Their first task would be to get their kit into a condition that would pass inspection by a grumpy former senior NCO, who would be well paid for throwing their kit on the floor, emptying their lockers and shouting at them.

Once they had got their kit sorted out to his satisfaction, they would be sent out for an eight mile run in full kit, ideally in the rain, after which they would have to do PT on the parade ground.  This would be followed by sorting out their now wet and scruffy kit, again subject to Mr Grumpy's inspection and approval.  Then, get them to clear up the barracks before they get a chance to eat.

Keep this going for a couple of days and send them home.

I thought that these would provide a far more realistic insight into military life.

I also had an RAF variant, which consisted of checking into a 5 star hotel for the weekend and running up a huge room service bill.

For me it's whenever the person gets their rose tinted glasses out.

I remember being new to airsoft and hearing all these stories about amazing events that happened "just" before I got into the sport were.......cut to a few years later and I am hearing these amazing stories about events that I went to that I thought were shit but had nuggets of gold in them. The stories tellers made it seem like every game'/event was pure gold and it wasn't shit was a couple of good moments.

Chat to people now about Tier one at Stanta and lots of people will reminisce with fond memories. At the time it was basically the same event 3 times in a row at stanta with almost no variation except for a decrease in the quality of the game play and event each time. They'll chat about CAG and their events at Otterburn.....that happened like twice. Or the sandpit and how amazing it was, despite the fact they used about 10% of the site (was amazing for big event games though!).

I'd always encourage people to just make the best of it now, what's happening now, what events/sites are there that exist now. Sparta closed recently (never went) and people were obviously upset to lose a great venue, well.....if it's so great -  go! Don't just settle for just going to your local week in week out - get out there, vote with your feet and do the stuff that looks interesting now, before you look back on whatever site/organiser it is, cause it's just a matter of time before they close down.

Had a Tm mp7 GBBR for about 7 years, still completely stock internally other than the inner barrel and hop rubber (hop rubber was wear and tear)

mags can be leaky after a while, but gasket seal around the baseplate sorts this, all my original 6 mags work perfectly still , the 2 i bought a few years later are fine without any sealer,

range and accuracy has always been great, can compete with most full size rifles.

maintenance wise, it does need a clean every now and then, but once you get the hang of this its fairly simple.

ive used green gas and abbey Brut sniper gas for years with no issues, did run a couple of mags with propane right at the start, but it didn’t seem necessary

issues wise mine has a sleepy trigger thats only just turned up, haven't had it apart to check it out yet but should be easy enough to fix.

overall it has been a firm favourite for years, often I've chosen to use it instead of my Ghk for longer events,

I would imagine, as with many non Airsoft events, people go for the event itself, much like NAF. It's not just the airsoft, it's the size of it, the social aspect etc.
And then, taking music festivals in as an example, some can be utter shit shows but still make money every year.
There's one metal festival I won't go to for various reasons, but the final deciding factor for me is that the regular crowd consists of utter tossers. And I'm not the only one that feels that way.
But it's a big event, makes loads of cash, despite even the regulars thinking the organisers are assholes and complaining vociferously about the event on social media.
But they all go again next year.

Airsoft events as big as NAF and AI500 aren't really that widespread, as they're a ball ache to put on, so for those that want a BIG experience they don't have that much choice.

None of the above excuses the poor organisation I've been hearing about from AI500 AGAIN, just musing on why people keep going back.

A bit confused how they manage to find 400 odd people to give them money tbh, as far as i can remember these events, have the worst possible reputation, the last 3 at the very least have the exact same issues, 8 Marshall's - 400 players, unique site, but no idea how to actually run the site, weird inconsistent rulesets.
1 time it could be forgiven, if they improved, but doing it over and over is ridiculous.
by the stories coming out each event you'd think this was their first run, not going on for 7 years now.

Dude, don't encourage this shit, when it gets found, & it usually does, then things just get worse, she gets more reasons to keep his son from him, which might be supported by courts etc.
OP, you need to work at improving your relationship with your EX, & only then slowly feeding in you & your son's mutual interests, yeah it sucks that she appears to have all the control but unfortunately that's usually the way it is, & using underhand & deceitful tactics to undermine her choices, choices that many would view as sensible, will backfire on you, & ultimately have a negative effect on your son.

Sorry sir, but you have a lot of incorrect information here.
1st. Our Constitution is Law. COTUS (Constitution of The United States) protects our right to arm ourselves from any Gov't intrusion.  It doe NOT grant us any Rights, it protects them.

We also do not have any licensing requirements for ownership. We do have a background check if you are buying from an FFL (Federal Firearm Licensed Dealer).
Not only does it check for criminal flags, but also citizenship. Which makes a LOT of sense. We do have many States that require a "permit" to carry on your person. It is technically a violation of Law (COTUS).
Private sales are not a "loophole" it is EXACTLY how COTUS is written, so, I will say politely, you have it backwards.

I do like how you lay out "civilized world". This is a political term that is basically saying "non poors".  We also love keeping data. For good or bad, we just keep too many records.
Far too many countries have either Gov't killing the citizens, or killing each other. In almost EVERY country, Gov't has a monopoly on violence.  Think about that.

I will ask you to please, for all things decent, stop getting your information from the media. They are 90% liars, and our population is far too gullible to to do our own research.

That said, do we have a gun problem, no sir. We have a really shitty legal system, along with some terrible social systems that are....how can I say..... oppressive . I dont mean racist, I mean oppressive.  We have a multi tier legal system based on social pressure. Not kidding, and it is not only sad, but infuriating.

I dont claim to know it all, but what I do know comes from someone who, if my home was ever raided, would read like a guy ready to go to war with a small country. Funny thing is, I am a small player in the massive group of people I know, when it comes to the number of guns owned. Having 30-50,000 rounds of various ammo is a bit embarrassing to be honest.

I really cant beg enough (and I hate begging) PLEASE stop listening to the media.

EDITED TO ADD: We do have a few States that have a FOID (Firearms Ownership I.D.) card, and may have you list the guns you own.
This is also a violation of law.

I like the way you think sir.

    Very level headed and honest.
