At the sites I attend its always "mags out and fire a few times". That is the gun is clear and there is no way it could have a BB in the chamber loaded at any point. While somewhat based around AEGs as a practice its a good safety position to always treat airsoft weapons as much like real guns as possible, you don't leave those lying around with a loaded magazine in either.

There is this great little youtube video I saw a while ago (I can't find it now) which is from a gun shop showing all these people coming in with their guns and pulling them out for some purpose. Dumb things like "Do you have a grip for this..." and then out comes a concealed handgun. They sweep the muzzle around the room or past the shop keeper and then they hand it over to the shop keeper and say its not loaded and the keep unloads the magazine, racks the slide and out comes a bullet. They then put that bullet in their jar on the counter with the notice about loaded guns.

Always treat your airsoft rifle like its a real gun, that is empty out the magazine and clear the chamber. You always do this, not because you need to do it to make the gun safe, you don't. You do it because gun safety is that we do these things and it gives us multiple levels of safety. Yet despite doing all that we still shouldn't dry fire in the safe zone, you need to test electrics stick some eye pro on and go and shoot in the chrono area/beginning of the zone, it'll take 30 seconds but its safe. Always use redundant safety because its human to make mistakes.

I drive a '10 Golf 2.0 diesel which has been caught up in the VW emissions scandal. I love it though. I commute a fair distance so it's good for my motorway runs and has the pull when I want to overtake.

You rent from the site that you chose to play at. They'll rent a gun to you, face protection and probably throw in some bbs as well although it may not be enough to last the whole day.

Glad to see you're ok and no permanent damage hopefully. I always wear full seal and even so I've had a bb squeeze in between the seal and the skin underneath my eye. I felt something touch my eye although it wasn't painful. Then my vision was messed up until I realised it a the bb rolling around behind the lens inside my eye pro. That was a bit surreal.

Also for the sake of consistency it's probably better to merge all your GBB pistol related threads together.

I find them equally as much arseholes if I'm honest . They're a bit more understandable in the sense the majority of airsofters portray modern special forces and that's their modern enemy. As has been noted this would be more suitable at a ww2 event apart from the fact he's not portraying a combat look. He's portraying a death camp guard unit...

It's also worth noting most of the jihadi load outs are found usually only at milsim a and are a bit of a "oh someone needs to be op for so ill stick on a funny hat . Cape and use an AK" rather than " I'm harbouring racist views or want to be offensive so I'll construct an accurate uniform which has no place on a battlefield anyway and say it's okay for me to wear it because airsoft"

    Hi,

As Jedi says, Gas guns are less powerful with lower temperatures. They still work but will be a bit more temperamental. They're great fun though. They're also more expensive to run and require more maintenance. Although I have one myself I'd still recommend an AEG as a first gun.

To start, go to your local site and rent for 3 games over a period of at least 2 months. Assuming you're over 18 then you're eligible to be added to the Ukara database by becoming a member of that airsoft club. Get yourself a rifle, decent eye-pro that you're happy with and some outdoor boots. Everything else can come along in slow time as you discover what your want and what you don't want.

    Welcome.

    1. Gas does not work as well at lower temperatures, science magic. UK summer is fine but winter less so. GHK G5 is probably rated as the best gbbr due to its magazine. It is difficult to measure fps, due to temperature variance.

    2. Use search function on the forum, been a few recent threads on subject. Remember Wales is wet

    3. Airsoft is not cheap, and there is always something that catches your eye to buy. Get site membership, added to UKARA database (not licence), start buying RIFs, enjoy the sport.

IMO ICS are a decent brand but you need to be aware that ICS (and other manufacturers) may have 2-3 lines of the same weapon. That is there may be a budget range, a medium range and premium range which vary a lot in cost, quality and materials. The budget line may be called something like Sport-Line and the premium may be called the Pro-Line or something similar. So have a look at how a manufacturer structures their product range. For me it gave a better idea of quality levels and what makes a good gun or a bad gun.

I bought a lower mesh mask after somebody decided to full auto into my face from what seemed like a relatively close range. Aside from the teeth, it can leave marks on the skin and lips which could take awhile to heal up. As said above, they probably need altering/bending to fit your face better. They also vary in shape a bit as well so if you have a big nose, look out for ones with more nose room etc. The trouble with masks is that it's a bit harder to aim if you're trying to rest your cheek on the stock.

Plug for that UTG red dot; got mine a week ago and it's great. It's rated for use on real steel stuff so it's not going to break.

Have a look at this thread. It'll help with choosing a brand for GBBRs.

    I love GBB as well.

Advantages are increased realism with recoil and more noise. On full auto the recoil could throw your aim a little. Some people may view noise and recoil as a disadvantage but for me the it's worth it. With my GBBR I usually stick to single shot or 3 round burst whereas with my AEG I tend to be a bit more liberal.

Limited ammo means you need to play differently from using a high cap AEG. The magazines are heavy. If you're carrying 4-5 of them around at a time it can add up, especially if they're all thrown into a dump pouch.

Running costs are higher than an AEG and also maintenance as well.

Varying temperature means performance varies from day to day so I need to adjust my hop at the start of each game day.

If you can afford it, buy whatever you're happy with and want rather than buy something cheaper that you don't really want with the view of upgrading it. However I do realise that not everybody can afford to splash out a lot of money up front so do go for this option.

Personally I'm the buy a good gun and leave it alone type of person.
