(UPS) Customs import form for Harmonised code 930599
Colonel Kurtz replied to Sacarathe's topic in UK Law
This thread had lead me to believe it was UPS that commanded the £11 fee, and used some of it to pay the duty requirement. The duty % of the value of the good i ordered including postage fee isn't £11. It was my hope that if I didn't have to fill in this form then I would only be charged for the duty/tax -

I was trying to achieve not having to fill in a form and pay UPS for the privilege when just ordering a thread adapter -
Taking some Leave, possibly leaving all together.

Pseudo-Science: As with all sports the fun is all about that adrenaline/endorphin etc dump on the brain. if it's not being prompted by playing airsoft anymore, it suggests you've gotten too comfortable in skirmish environment for it to occur, and it's become a task rather than activity. So you need something to put the shits up you enough to get a thrill again perhaps? Thin clothes so getting hit is actually something to avoid or only using a pistol? Something wacky? Hope after a break the idea becomes exciting again! -
(UPS) Customs import form for Harmonised code 930599

Ordered a thread adapter from evike; UPS called me and asked if it was airsoft parts. I asked why they asked and what the object had been flagged as by the sender, they emailed me the form from Evike where it'd been listed as a toy-part, then called back a couple hours later. So i asked if there was any requirement to declare toy-parts, they said no but kept asking if it was airsoft. I asked why they keep asking and they said Evike was a known airsoft retailer. I said it was a thread adapter from 12mm CCW to 14mm CCW and that i wasn't intending to use it for airsoft, i was going to use it in a boat engine (first bit of bullshit involving small pipes that came to my mind). They kept on asking if despite my intended purpose if it was infact an airsoft part. I tried to ermmm my way through it saying i'd just googled and bought it and hadn't paid much attention to the site, I didn't know and they should reference the description from the shipper (which said toy-part). Phone conversation ended without conclusion, then i get an email from UPS with that fecking form. So it seems it's less Evike being muppets and more UPS being money grabbing c*nts looking for any excuse to charge people for them handing over a form... I am registered on UPS which means they are willing to send stuff to me and allow me to pay such fees up to about £50 at my own convenience. I am debating whether I can dispute the charges and stand a chance of complaining them into submission, as at the end of the day the reality is it is an airsoft part from an airsoft retailer... -
P90 is prob as close to rifle performance you'll get from something that size(ish), have TM HC one and it's awesome. Slightly too big to use 1 handed comfortably so if you've very long arms it might be a pain to hold into your shoulder. I just got a TM MP7 electric and it's perfect CQB weapon. ROF is bit low but intending on using it for single-shot games only. I would have got gas but i don't like it in general. Small electric guns are thought to generally be outperformed by gas equivs as shrinking the gearbox from rifle size to smg size often looses fair bit of power/rof

Should set some traps, that crack-head aint gonna be able to sell your xbox while half his legs left in a bear-trap hehe Saw episode of QI going on about darwin awards. Was one guy who spent a decade booby-trapping his house as he was paranoid & convinced someone was messing with it/him. Eventually he was found dead from one of his traps, but it was dubious as to whether he'd triggered it mistakenly or deliberately! I myself have had a warehouse smart-water system trigger by mistake and i was unable to go anywhere with UV light without looking like a smurf. -
Encountering awesome/honourable player
Colonel Kurtz replied to jeffery7466's topic in General Discussion
Happens to me every-time i play CQB. I've been hit first and told the opp not to bother taking it, and I've ignored return fire from someone clearly hit first. More often me telling them not to take the hit as no risk of death and infinite re-spawns makes diving round a corner frequently seem a good idea Anything seemingly simultaneous is a 50/50 ofc, but as you say it often isn't. The cut-off point i try to use is that if someone has to continue to move/turn at all to return fire after being hit then you clearly hit them first and vice-versa. In my mind this is the difference between someone not being able to stop their reflex action of trying to shoot you quickly enough after being hit, and a true 50/50 moment. I am able to tell when my return shot was a too late reflex action, and so can most unless they're too clad in combat clothing to know wtf is going on. I figure this is the conditions that make the difference in real life, someone not moving is more likely to squeeze off a shot themselves in the vaguely right direction when they get shot. This means I'll consider myself on the loosing end of a 50/50 if bursting round a corner to an alert defender, but doing the same to someone who is distracted and/or not facing me directly puts the ball in my court. Usually if it's me getting hit by an alert defender (most often) I'll try to at least say hit first, if it seems to be 50/50 i'll leave the opp to decide, usually getting a kill is satisfying enough for them to follow and take the hit too. If it seems a shot too late from me i'll tell/congratulate them. Only issues I've had is with people who don't realize they were hit at all in a 50/50 ish moment, or when they've missed from 2 metres with a pistol (surely that cant be possible, right?! i must have hit them!) Most funny one i had was when myself and an opp jumped round the same corner simultaneously, colliding with each other, both fired and both managed to hit each others gun with tracer BB (nice little splitting BB firework show). We agreed next time we should try to shoot each other's BB's out of the air, and both took a hit as we'd already interrupted play by pausing to gather wtf had just happened -
ICS TransforM4 is pretty sweet and about 250. have one and it's been flawless! Could get a Tokyo Marui M4 for that kinda money, that 2nd hand recoil does seem a good deal! Most people seem to sell them because they're addicted to its awesomeness, so they can buy another one in a diff body!

Leaving keys in locks. Help me settle an argument.

From a feral burgling crackhead perspective; unless they've targeted a house specifically, they'll be on the snoop. You are correct in that the keys in the door wont help gain entrance at all, but it does display an amount of carelessness that will make a potential burglar hope-full that there's lots of other keys and valuables left lying around in spots of convenience rather than locked away securely or at least tidied to the extent where it's hard to find. I've known a few people who turned to the dark-side and a couple who made it back. their tales of crack thievery point towards opportunism, and keys in the door will seem like a good opportunity even if it isn't -
I have a couple TM high cycles, for all the reasons listed above. Apart from stealing lunch money, no-one has any money left by the time i've invaded their chess-club, they've all spent it on guns and load-outs and the remaining small change spanked on getting into the building and pyros! I also have a massive penis so not compensating for anything, hopefully the doctors will work out how to safely remove it from my forehead soon. I bought one as it seemed the coolest manner to pimp a gun/wank money on airsoft, whereas a 'DMR', persuading a misc US redneck to ship me real-steel gun accessories or sniffing the scent of combat from army surplus pants didn't. I couldn't really envisage a practical bonus at the time, but twice the ROF just seemed like it couldn't be bad! Having used one for 6 months there's a few bonuses; Suppressing fire, especially when running between cover (although i have missed and run into a wall doing this, better than blind fire i guess!) Being outnumbered. Hitting multiple targets at once, wave the gun in the vague direction and a second burst will hit all three of those guys shooting at you. I've managed to dispatch large rooms full of people where single-shot or half the ROF would have left me hit well before hitting them all. As for not having to aim so well, more attempts on target is certainly a bonus, but thanks to that magic tm hop i find the spread pretty small, the difference it makes is timing more than accuracy; a quick burst will prob hit the guy hiding behind something before he ducks back, and save a minute of exchanging quick shots at each other which allows me to try shoot his buddies before they get me. You certainly don't need 30 RPS, but i find playing airsoft on my own that the ROF makes it possible to stand a chance against small teams of people, is very good at buying time in a firefight. All joking about soaking cheaters in bb's aside, there's def no point in spraying people needlessly, but occasionally someone will get hit 5-10 times. I don't worry about that as I usually get hit a dozen times in one go when taking on groups of people, especially if they're camping the same doorway/spot, and at least my gun only kicks out 260fps. High ROF is as/no more pointless than any upgrades in airsoft, we could all achieve the same results using bright orange plastic BB guns; hitting someone with a small plastic ball at a distance you could chuck a rock. I've not managed to grow any BB trees yet, but that's mostly due to not playing soldiers in the woods, if i did i'd use a stick and plant it at the end of the day. Have certainly aided in making The Malls floors more slippery with bb's on the concourse and the occasional yellow trickle in the basement Can get pretty pricey using tracers, but i still seems to only use a couple hundred bb per hour game max, half that once it's single shot only after lunch.

oh gawd i ordered a aeg part from evike couple days ago, at least i know the bureaucratic horror that awaits me lol. -
Yeah i'd have to agree 50 squid aint bad to keep a laptop afloat! The gf's right there too, 5-600 is what you need minimum for a laptop destined for more than ms office and surfing the web, 400 does the trick if thats all you need. GL with the xbox, told it's a pain to setup initially, but can't be worse than my PS3, every time i turn it on there's half-hour of updates either for the console or the game i want to play! I hadn't played Gran turismo 6 in about a year so brushed the dust off and tried to have a go. was 17 updates and total of 10gb, even worse i had to do it a few updates at a time or it froze when trying to apply them. After a week of half-attention every eve i finally got it playable online!

Looking for a multipurpose Action Camera (Budgeted)

Go Pro for the win, your wallet will loose another ton or two though lol. Contour is indeed prob your best bet if on a budget, various other Chinese clones out there but doesn't make much dif if it aint GoPro or similar value -
Support for Windows 7 hasn't totally ceased, just to the extent where you can't email them if your a muppet. The online resources/downloads will still be there for ages, they only totally stopped supporting XP a year ago. I certainly wont be touching windows 10 until perhaps 6months/a year after release, might actually work properly by then! The rule of windows releases state it should be good tho (they release good then shit windows every time, xp good, vista bad, 7 good, 8 bad, 10 good i hope) A quick glance suggests there's dif motherboards across the G6 series depending on spec, something to double-check before you buy a new processor. I would say new processor will gain you another year or so of use out of the laptop. Whether it's worth it is up to you. Just make sure you give the laptop a darn good cleanup/refurb when you swap it

Hehe exactly what I did, took the TransforM4 along too. Sure-enough the thundermall having a nato gun inside was not considered good enough, so i just used the ICS. A few also weren't too happy about my adherence to camo schemes only going as far as a t-shirt, but they let that slide as i said i couldn't be assed to spend £200 on full army gear before even seeing if this was something i'd enjoy. I didn't lol. My final comment on that day is that I think many of my team-mates needed to simulate the professionalism of being in the military (not bitching/arguing with themselves over tactics, or looking like they're about to pass out after shuffling/jogging 10 metres), not just the gear and vague idea. Probably will flog the TransforM4 at some point, don't really need it as the TM HC M4 does good enough distance!
-
Agreed I guess it all boils down to trying to cater the the ethos of the style of game being played. I failed in epic style at milsim (pretending to be a soldier simply not being my bag, seems a lot of the people who do like it aren't an archetype i get on with either), so I went back to CQB and my M4 has been gathering dust since. You'll always get people dabbling in a different style to their usual, who end up not really succeeding in it very well (again like me in milsim). Sites like The Mall (anything seemingly novel/different to woodland) will be prone to people just having ago. Also perhaps why such sites often get conflicting reviews; good ones and then bad reviews of people complaining they had a sh*t time, was too different and they didn't like it. Although rarely find someone who'll say this rather than finding other reasons for why the site is at fault rather than their tastes not matching it, not sure if bitching about other players counts or not lol. People always free to do what they like within the rules once paid, but is a team game, and as with any team game you have a certain amount of responsibility to not bring the side down. Up to the player to judge how much difference they can make and therefore how much responsibility they have. Not giving a f*ck at all and doing your own thing can be bit douchebagish, but if you're at least trying to do something to aid the team effort then its all good in my mind.
-
Don't think you'd attain full douche-baggery until complaining if your teams looses by points. The Mall is a dark maze of chaos where no-one ever seems that bothered by the scores anyways (don't think i've ever found out the scores of the last game of the day). Same for other CQB sites I've found, objectives etc seem to be more a woodland concern unless you've got a well co-ordinated team. 50-60 people each side at the Mall seems to mean no-one feels responsible enough to care about the results as mostly in small groups. A definitive win in a game at the Mall seems to be all about who can push the other team back to just outside their spawn, and that's what sucks; When your teams too shy and you end up with 2 choke-points either side of your spawn filled with a queue of ditherers to pick from, and no other way out into the majority of the site. Gets very boring if your on the other side of that too, having nothing more than camping a corridor to do sucks.

And it's an EBB system that might as well not be there, I didn't even realize my ICS TransforM4 had it at first, and it was an intended feature, not just the tiniest little jolt that I expected an airsoft gun to make anyways. Works flawlessly though, this APE series is same internals so assume it's also excellent.
-
You've worked out the name of the game is pointing the gun at people and pulling the trigger rather than wagging the chin, skilled enough lol! Yer can't just shout push up from the back, I usually barge my way to the front and ask them to try avenge my impending death. Or sneak off for a cheeky flank if no-ones looking.

I either use a Strike plastic case bought from Fire Support, or the big ole metal case that usually houses my guitar if taking more than one gun.
