  1. I tried AA when it first came out as was a free shootem up. I found it terrible, like a crepe version of Arma. Didn't realise it's still going, will have a look see if it's gotten any better over last decade.
  2. You'll need more than one mag anyways, I'd suggest you buy a couple, perhaps the supplier will give you a discount to compensate.
  3. the pouch is velcro, so should be able to change it to fit anything vaguely the same dimensions But, can you charge the go-pro while it's in a protective case? Sure a friend of mine considered the same tactic for snowboarding and decided he couldn't keep it protected and charging simultaneously...
  4. They run a reportedly very good weekly zombie event at The Mall in Reading. Similar price, be bit of a trek from bristol area but not heard anything bad, only very good about this one and various complaints about others
  5. I look forward/hope to get to play airsoft in space, then we'll all def need HPA!!!
  6. That's pretty much how i looked when getting this lecture from my mates, only perhaps eyes slightly more closed/red
  7. From what you've said it sounds like the 'consistency' you're describing is just using a surplus of air so there is 'consistently' always enough air, not consistenly the same volume of air released each time, which was what they were talking about. I dont know enough about HPA, but assuming the volume of air released with each shot is actually more precise/consistent each compared to an AEG, the main factor my nerd-friends considered the instability was the spread of pressure within the air, caused by the air quickly changing between different pressures as it goes from tank to tube to out the nozzle. The 'cushion of air' in the barrel around the BB would effect how it's coating of air/pressure is formed and the amount of it, and that's the whole point in barrel bore making any kind of difference. The idea that the cushion can be made larger and therefore better by a significantly wider bore is a fantasy, as there will be more room for inconsistency in the pressure along this cushion, which would have the opposite effect, or at least counter act any posistive effect. In terms of 'bouncing around' in the barrel, my friends said that regardless of how much space to bounce around the BB has, that if it is significantly trying to bounce-around then an airsoft gun simply isn't precision enough for the barrel bore to matter, unless a total extreme then ofc it'll be much worse, and that as long as the barrel bore was wide enough for it not to get stuck due to being not precisely spherical, it doesn't matter. At this point i gave up and got another beer, and will do so again now But the lasting impression i got from the whole evenings debate was; that airsoft guns simply aren't precision enough tools to worry about any of this shite, and it's just a tinkering/pimp-my-riding indulgence that we all try to justify. That when youre just trying to hit a person with a 6mm ball of plastic within the same range you could chuck a rock at them, it doesn't matter. That alot of things that supposedly make a difference is just that 90% of people wont buy an 'upgrade' for something and then tell people it made no difference, the mind will invent one.
  8. Yeah and that's the stalemate of being unable to determine this precisely without a lab my friends got to. It all got abit hard fow me to follow, but they gave me enough school-kid summary to gather the following in relation to barrel bore, please forgive me if my memory has failed and i get anything jumbled or miss any key relational points; They said that the spin of the BB would create a layer of pressure/air around it, and that this can reduce the effects of the surrounding air/environment on the bb as its deflected by it. They said there's an optimum for spin (depending on the size/mass of the BB and force applied) and too much spin/instability can create an effect 'i forget the name' where this pocket of air/pressure around the object isn't stable, and vents pressure/air in one direction, pushing the object away in the opposite direction. They agreed that the stability of this pocket of air/pressure around the BB is the main factor in accuracy. That relational to amount of spin applied by the collision with the hop-up, there would be an optimum bore for a barrel that would allow this layer of vacum/air to form better, and that there was another optimum in terms of this pocket itself that would reduce the amount it is effected the moment it leaves the barrel. They said that assuming the BB was always the same dimensions/mass, that these 'optimums' would differ depending on the volume of air being used to push the BB and the force/speed it travells at, the volume of the barrel, the temperature and the amount of air-pressure at the beginning and end of the barrel. They seemed to think this would be very easy to calculate in a lab and considering that theres only about a dozen diff barrel lengths commonly used they were suprised no-one had done so already. They said therefore there's no universal principal of one barrel bore being 'better' or 'worse' for accuracy, but it'd be easy to define a vague optimum (they consider the increments of availible barrel bores being 0.01mm very vague when using a 6mm projectile) for different combinations of cylinder and barrel volume, that that a precise amount of hop-up to set could then be calculated. They said for HPA or gas, it'd be much harder to define as they doubt the volume of spread of pressure in the air/gas released for each shot is anywhere near consistent enough, and went as far to say it might be too inconsitent for the bore to make a tangeable difference in this manner. They also said it's possible that an AEG could have a similar amount of inconsistency due to build quality to also make it largely irrelevant, that the amount of consistency required for the bore to matter to accuracy at all could end up being something of an aerospace/F1 build standard that isn't seen in airsoft at all. TLDR: It's possible to calculate exact optimum bore, but differs depending on cyclinder/air volume/force applied and initial unadjusted barrel volume (assuming 6mm for 6mm projectile). That it's also likely these are inconsistent enough due to build-quality of airsoft guns not being aerospace/F1 standard for barrel bore to make no tangeable positive or negative difference. (unless an extreme like 6.5mm or 6.00000000001mm for 6mm projectile etc)
  9. Indeed conflicting is a poor choice of word, the conflict is only in the opinions of people citing different ones as having the greater effect. What i mean is the ratio of the various laws that can be deemed to have an effect. I've a couple friends who work as supply teachers, both with enough Physics knowledge to teach the subject. They gave up trying to argue/define the full effects of inner barrel bore/length & hop-up after i posed the question, if there'd been less beer and smoke in the room I might be able to recount the two laws/prinicpals they were arguing would have the greater effect.
  10. I'm guessing 150ft not m! There's a couple dif guys who often turn up at The Mall with a Polastar, and generally someone will complain about getting a line of 50rps dots down their arm. I've been peppererd few times by them and seems to hurt/sting no more than any other gun at close range. Perhaps the additional air being used in these helps the BB keep it's force better over long ranges? Has anyone compared the difference in BB spin between CPA and AEG? would take lab conditions to do that properly, but has anyone tried testing whether hop-up amount creates the same or differing amount of spin between AEG & CPA, as the hop-up should act as an amplifier of spin applied by the raw air, and hopefully create a noticeable difference in when hop-up amount started making the BB arc upwards. I wish someone university or similar would actually work out the balance between the various conflicting laws of physics applicable to airsoft so answering these kind of questions didn't seem like a cross between alchemy and voodoo.
  11. As long as you buy another G&G stock you'll be totally fine, but be aware the stock tubes differ v slightly between manuafacturers. I found a JG stock was very stiff (giggity) to get on a G&G tube and the holes in a slightly different possition (double giggity) so it wouldn't lock very easily.
  12. Good choice, as Lozart says would just been a mess-around doing otherwise.
  13. Shame, be better off with windows 7 anyways! I think pretty much every windows 8 pc i've dealt with i ended up putting a start-menu back on it and disabling the metro crepe i wouldn't touch 10 until it's been out good 6 months.
  14. Eh? so you mean you didn't get a copy as expected, or you haven't managed to install it?
  15. I've never seen any Polar Star stuff for sale in UK, does everyone have to import from US? EDIT - Never mind, found The Grange sell em.
  16. get an m100 spring and you should be bang on the fps you want
  17. While browsing for G36 frankenguns i found quite a few that had been converted into SL9, it seems a company called STAR made a conversion kit, but can't find any instock... Ares and Elite Force/Umarex (not sure if this was made when Ares worked with Umarex...) also make a SL9. Also saw some people who'd bought the JG SL8, and tried to convert it into the version with the floating rail (canadian version??), with lots of wonky looking failed attempts. Seems someone made a 'bbgun' quality one and sold it as the 'SWAT M10a' version, dunno if that's real-steel accurate, M10a seems to a a code applied to alot of stuff supposedly used by SWAT, feel free to correct me here.
  18. Really? Balls epic fail! It just looked like a G36 with a L96-ish stock, have changed it to another G36 that is definately frankengun! Ok here's one that def isnt a real-steel and not that bad;
  19. A post about putting a G36 carry handle on another gun prompted me to search these forums for a thread of people submitting pictures of the best and worst 'frankenguns' they can find/make. I found none so here it is, an unholy pit for the mutant creations of madmen. I shall start preceedings with a G36;
  20. The G36 carry handle with integrated sight looks cool enough for me to have almost bought a G36 as first gun so can appreciate this madness To be fair i dont think the AUG looks too bad with it, the grip-guard provides enough similarity/symetry to just about get away with it... maybe... I have made a Frankengun thread as found none on these forums; http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/25243-the-frankengun-thread-new-species-and-crimes-against-nature/
  21. i'm trying to picture a cyma mp5 with a g36 rail
  22. I think that peoples misconceptions about UKARA being a legal requirement isn't a bad thing, as it helps perpetuate UKARA and the independant retailers who keep the airsoft market competitvely priced. The alternative is bleak; Without UKARA then the only way i can envisage RIF being sold at all is at skirmish sites by the people running it. A site could then set their own criteria for what they consider to be sufficient 'proof' of your defence for owning RIF. They could make it so you have to go to their skirmishes 10 times before you can take the gun home, and charge you lots more for the gun knowing you'd have to be willing to go to a less convinient site multiple times to get any cheaper.
  23. What's a good protective coat to apply to a gun painted in Krylon matt-black fusion?

      depends how much your gun is worth and whether or not you're gonna sell it, because no one buying second hand will give even half a sh*t that it's cerakoted, the price will remain the same!

      yeah good point, it's a decent bit of TM so not too high a % of the original gun cost. wouldn't plan on selling. so just down to sentimentality vs wallet i guess :)

      i used the krylon flat finish from patrol base listed above. its a noce robust finish so long as you leave it a week to fully set before handling it. seriously a full week!

  24. Essentially this guy was singled out as a point of contact to complain about how it was announced after the event that a percentage of the money donated to the event was going to military charities. As with anything the public complains about en-mass, there'll be some extreme worded complaints of 'and you should be shot' etc, but it's abit Daily-Mail dramatic of the media to report this as an actual threat to this mans life. Probably done as they know it'll prompt the kind of response like this topic, which makes for more sales. A person pathetic enough to word a complaint in this manner to anyone should probably suffer their recommended fate themselves, and it is an ironic shame as their kind of blind hatred is the kind of feeling that makes things like the first world war possible. I can fully appreciate why this % of donations going to military charities would anger people enough to complain as well as why some of the money is justified to go to military charities; Its a remembrance event to pay tribute to the million people killed, a wholesale slaughter of a generation of people due to war. A slaughter enacted by the militaries of all sides. Regardless of who is truely responsible for extreme casualties of the first world-war, people will easily view this as money donated to an event highlighting the horror and futility of war being put back into the military, the organisation that continues to perpetuate such war. What will really offend people about this is that it wasn't announced until after they donated, making them feel tricked/conned. My opinion is that a huge % of the people killed in this war were soldiers, and the military charities a % of these donations are going to are aimed and providing care and support to men/women who are still victims of war, and them being in the army irrelevant to what should be the unjudgemental ethos of true charity. The important thing here is if they had been clear about where the money was going, then people wouldnt have gotten offended, or had the trolling opportunity to claim they are offended, and these 'death-threats' wouldnt have happened. EDIT - Also people should be complaining in a civilised manner to whoever made the decision to allocate a % of the donations to the military charities, and picking on this guy for it in a threatening manner is just plain idiocy.
  25. No but i did have my position as the first boy to sign up for netball quickly revoked for similar reasons
