Are you comfortable fixing the leaks? There are a few things to try i could point out if it helps
-
Pics perhaps? Does the gun still cycle fine? Does it shoot well? It may be a pin that held two pieces together, how long is it? How wide is it? Is it hollow? is it painted or coated? Did it have any lubricant on it?

The 'What have you just bought' Thread
TheGrover replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
If you can still afford to shop there, then you havent spent enough money in airsoft gear... Remember, you always need another pistol -
If its for a GBB, milspec is the place to look. Sure he doesnt have everything, but what he does have is good gear, and lots of it. Ive actually had the pleasure of seeing his stockrooms, and lets just say he has enough gear to keep a tinkering airsofter busy til rapture.

If in doubt, you cant beat some simple TLC. After all, the best hop/barrel setup in the world is no good if its caked in grease, grit and general crap. OP, have we made the importance of cleaning and caring for guns clear enough? Otherwise, im sure we can rattle off a few more (dozen) reasons that its a good idea.
-
It depends, some people swear by their high quality parts, and they certainly make a difference. My ICS l85 has had a new bucking, h-nub and hop parts, and its satisfyingly accurate, letting me reach out and touch someone. For the sake of a few quid on a good nub and bucking, its at least the best value upgrade (in my opinion) even if there might be better performance from other means like a good barrel

Hey, i never said that 90m was impossible, but i suspect you must have a literally perfect gun that is cared for like a baby. No imperfections, perfect hop, and never knocked more than a gentle bump
-
Laser measured? Whats wrong with a tape measure? And remember that at 90m it starts to get difficult to PID a target without magnifying optics, even with good vision and bright tape on their arms. A quarter gram bb staying true at that range is serious sniper territory... proof or it didnt happen

Sorry, is there a question in there? [/narky]

Sounds daft to me. The only difference between green gas and propane is green gas has either added perfume or no odorant and added lubricant (usually silicone, despite being the wrong thing to use). And in my experience with colemans as propellant, propane is no less consistent than any other gas, unless you switch bottles, which is unlikely even over a weekend with a 1 pound can. And banning hot pyros is more than fair. Not only because of the risk of fire but also the potential for burns is significant wherever you play, imagine being prone and seeing a hot burning pyro roll in front of your face. I sure as hell dont think my insurance waiver covers the loss of my vision or permanent scarring like that
-
Just spotted that they dont allow propane to be used on site as propellant, does anyone know why this is? They mention that it is a hazard but not why. I hate to think it, but they dont sell overpriced GG at the site shop do they?
-
i can't fault my G5, though at £45 a mag you can expect to spend about £200 on mags alone. Gas guns are not for the faint of heart, or those with a wallet that is faint of heart

Try dropping into a local airsoft shop. Both my "locals" are easy going and will chrono just about anything you give them to test

Airsoft 101 (JustBBGuns)
TheGrover replied to Colonel Kurtz's topic in Skirmish Sites, Stories & Reviews
Lets put together an AFUK team and blitz it, ive got my G5 ready to sneak up and scare the shit out of some newbies and my BFG to test how young you can be to suffer a heart attack Someone needs to show these sprogs the difference between airsoft and COD... Focusing mainly on the literal pain of failire... -
I think it may have been my battery running low. Ive already had the box opened and unlocked the gears, i just wanted to figure out what caused it so i can try to prevent it
-
Hey all. After my last skirmish, my aegs gearbox locked up (less than 5 minutes from the end of the last game), and in my foolish attempt to unjam it, i blew the fuse. I have finally got round to opening the box and unjamming it, but i was wondering what could cause the lockup in the first place? Not the simple ones where the gun is on semi and stops its cycle with the cutoff lever actuated, but a solid mechanical lock that the motor cant push past? Thanks

H&K Umarex UMP Sportsline-Barrell switch
TheGrover replied to Chopper92's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
1) if its got a 14mm threaded barrel, just check the direction of the thread (if when looking down the barrel, the top of the flash hider moves left to unscrew and right to tighten, its a positive thread. If its the "wrong way" itd a negative thread, i think ccw is negative and cw is positive, but dont just take my word) and buy a supressor 2) the mock supressor will not improve either range or accuracy, but as you said, its for cosmetic reasons 3) if the supressor is to cover a longer inner barrel, this will also not improve either range or accuracy noticably. You will see an increase in fps with the longer barrel, but may end up bringing this back down if your gun gets above your sites limit. And the accuracy is much better improved by using a posh hop system or barrel (quality of barrel is orders of magnitude more important than length, look at TM pistols) -
All said, ive probably spent more time cleaning my two gas guns after each game (a 20 minute job per day) than i have fixing my aeg, and ive owned the AEG over a month longer than even my oldest gas gun. I dont think any of the problems ive had would be too dificult for anyone, and the short time i spent tinkering taught me alot about how my gun works, and if it should ever break down, ill have some knowledge to help fix it. I wont lie if you are nervous about tinkering, there are more reliable guns out there, but that doesnt make the ics unreliable, it just has its strengths elsewhere. And as said earlier, a gas gun (pistols aside) isnt a great first gun. As fun as they are (im a convert myself) they are much more work and less practical.

Hop unit needed some love to get the trajectory down, wire crimps snapped at the motor connection (bit of solder fixed it) gearbox locked up and blew the fuse (my own fault really) Like i said, nothing difficult and nothing that cant be fixed with simple tools and a bit of TLC
-
My ics has had a few issues, yea. I guess it is fair to say that its noy the most reliable aeg in the world, but the few things that have gone wrong were easy to fix with simple tools and a bit of solder. Dont be put off by one tech's opinion. After shopping around a bit youll find that they are (almost) all very opinionated, fixed on their personal views and they generally disagree with each other on the pros and cons of each brand and the quality of different guns.

Did you check the AI oil pump? Cracking kit when youre on propane
-
Give it a soak in sili oil overnight then reassemble the mag. After that im all out of ideas
