  1. I just bought a set as well, i bet theyll make a nice distraction at least... could a TAG innovation launcher throw these? Or maybe an old skool slingshot
  2. Orga Magnus 6.23mm by 260mm barrel for my G5 No-Brand supressor cover the longer barrel Prommy purple bucking Maple leaf Omega nub The orga barrel has a neat trick that you can convert the gun to a flat hop by just assembling the bucking differently around the barrel. i am planning to try this in my G5 and see if the flat hop is any better than my previous setup of Madbull blue bucking with a H nub in there. at my last skirmish i bumped into a few guys, one using a GBB 416 like it was a DMR, so i not have a reinvigorated optimism that GBBs can be accurate!
  3. well the best Orga i can find is 260mm, 55mm longer than the stock barrel (dunno if its a 6.03 or a 6.08 or somewhere in between, though the DMR kit for the gun comes with a 6.03) with an extra 55mm (which is over 20% of the stock barrel, i was hoping that the increased length would cancel out the loss in FPS due to the wider bore. and since its GBB, i dont have to worry about cylinders or springs, just how the floating valve behaves in the nozzle. if it turns out to produce less than 300fps, ill probably have to invest in either a high-energy nozzle to bring the power up, or an adjustable one, though i believe that the adjustable one may have issues, as i cannot find a single review for it and i dont know if the gun's cycling will move the setting over time
  4. Hey guys, im looking to get an aftermarket barrel for my G5, and rather than buying a tightbore and pushing my FPS up, i would rather get a widebore like an Orga Magnus and just extend it into a suppressor. is there any guide anywhere that outlines what kind of effect that a tighter/wider or shorter/longer barrel has on FPS? as i really want to keep my muzzle velocity where it is comfortably below site limits Thanks chaps
  5. Back to OP: Unless the gun still looks unrealistic after the change, its technically illegal, but practically, nobody will be arsed. If you want to do it belt and braces, youd have to wait til you are 18 and have a few games under your belt so you can reasonably prove the gun was bought/adapted for airsoft and not Violent Crime. Otherwise just do it and keep the gun safely locked away and transported safely
  6. i use a similar BFG from Dynatec (or Dynatex... dunno), its great fun, but never expect a kill, all to often people get out of range or find some cover... here are some lessons ive learned .209 primers are plenty, even outdoors, esiecially when they are about 1/4 the price of 9mm blanks just because your grenade isnt loaded, doesnt mean its no use, throw a dead one around a corner (with the pin removed... else an eagle eyed defender will get wise) and step round after it to shoot the defenders in the back put the pin on a retractable lanyard or something so you dont lose it, or buy many spares DO NOT LOSE THE LOADING TOOL never use a random metal object to re-prime the grenade, the dimple is important make sure that youre 110% confident with the delay timer before you think about cooking them, even on .209s these little fuckers can do some damage. if the grenade goes of prematurely EVER, then its not safe to cook, many people will say that cooking a bfg is stupid anyway, and they might be right, but i personally cook them for a little over a second (leaving just over 2 seconds of hang time) never throw it AT anyone, the lead marshal at F&O once told a story of someone who saw another player prone near a door, and then pelted his impact BFG at the ground right next to her head. its stories like that that risk getting our toys banned for good, and there is a court case going on down south right now involving one skirmisher claiming compensation from another after being twatted with one of these things I dont mean to preach or drone on, but ive lost my pin too many times and fooled too many people with an unloaded BFG (and even an empty mag for that matter) not to share
  7. Its illegal to import it, period. Think about it, anything you buy from abroad is your property when it lands in customs. Just renew your ukara, if youve been skirmishing regularly it just needs you to drop a form off at your next skirmish, then its problem solved
  8. Hey all, I have been meaning to put a quick survey together for the airsoft community to feed into, so that i can develop a better understanding of the science behind Joule Creep. So, i finally put one together in the hopes of attracting a few inquisitive minds, you can see the form HERE For those that dont know what Joule Creep is, it is caused by using heavy ammunition in airsoft guns. it affects all guns, but i believe that gas powered guns are the most susceptible due to the way that they operate. the theory behind the issue is that a heavier BB is accelerated more slowly down the barrel, which results in it spending more time in the barrel, recieving a greater impulse and therefore carries more energy than a lighter BB, even if it leaves the barrel slower than a lighter BB. what this means is that a sniper that passes a chrono at under 500fps on a 0.2g BB might actually be performing well over the safe levels of energy once you load it with heavier ammunition. this survey/science experiment aims to understand just how much of a difference it can make, and why. if you can, please take any gas powered guns that you have (it doesnt matter if its a pistol, rifle, SMG or sniper, as long as its Green gas or propane that pushes the BB) to a chrono, and do a little science. once you have some results to share, fill them in here, completing the entire form once per gun. the results will always be freely available to view and use, and once i have a few results in the spreadsheet i will aim to draw some conclusions here. please spread the word, send the link to anybody you know who uses a gas gun and can spare a minute extra at the chrono station at their next skirmish Thanks for your participation
  9. In Asia, Green Gas (Note the capitals) is the standard, but in europe, its more or less a free for all
  10. Why is the russian speaking in an american accent... He could have fooled me that he was actually american...
  11. nah, spending money is good! what kind of airsofter are you... i bet youre the kind of guy who can visit an airsoft shop and leave without a new pistol arent you?
  12. well, now im at my computer, i can share what i've gleaned. Generally, 144a is indeed the weakest, developed for games in the land of TM where fps limits are generally very low. once you get to Europe and America, Green gas is the standard, though different producers use different recipes, so obviously each gas is different, sometimes two cans of "Green Gas" from different manufacturers can be very different, the only way to find out it to test the two. there may be a wide scale test done elsewhere to compare a bunch of gasses, but ive not seen it. Abbey, as i mentioned, is a chemical company, so they produce very consistent gasses, and they dont fall into the trap of using silicone, which is a CRAP lubricant for airsoft purposes. Granted, it is very plastic/rubber friendly, a quality which is definitely needed, but it does not dissolve in gas, and will settle to the bottom of the can/mag and need shaking before it is any good. Let me quickly point out the major flaw in this: most gas magazines have two seals, one on the inlet valve and one on the outlet valve, these are usually at opposite ends of the mag. this means that when the silicone settles when you put them away ready for the next skirmish, the silicone can only possibly settle onto one of them. the other will be surrounded in dry (ish, depending on the ingredients) propane, which is will slowly dry out the seals, granted, it might take longer than a couple of weeks until the next time you load up for a skirmish or just to fiddle with the guns. By contrast, the UPL lubricant used by Abbey Predator DOES remain suspended in the gas, and prevents the propane from drawing out any lubricant (silicone or UPL) from the seals, averting both problems. i personally use Coleman's propane as a propellant during games, and vent the mags at the end of each day and replace the dirty propane with Abbey maintenance gas, which is a 144a gas designed specifically to keep the seals lubricated, using a healthy dosing of UPL. also note, that no brand green gas will inevitably be less pure than Abbey gas, and regular propane will be the least pure of them all. These little impurities might not be too bad for the gun, but over time will deposit inside the gun and particularly the barrel, and these can be anything that can remain in the gas, such as tiny fragments of metal from the various containers that the gas is moved through over its life, or other unassorted crap. at the end of the day though, it comes down to: what you can afford what gas gives your particular gun a consistent FPS comfortably below your local site(s) limit(s)
  13. i know its doable, and i know people do it, but the Border agency know that we do it and they dont like it, as people are doing it simply to circumvent a law.
  14. It IS illegal to import them however, which is where the UKBA come in
  15. Red gas is actually something they sell out in eastern Asia for airsoft, you cant buy Red Gas in the UK, but you can buy gas in a red can. Back to the original question, the best way to find out is to put rach gas in a mag and take the chrono test, and let the science decide. Generally, abbey gasses are less powerful than others, but usr UPL instead of silicone which is a better lubricant for gbb purposes, and on top of that, Abbey's QC is far better than the producers that WE or other brands use since Abbey is more a chemist than an airsoft supplier, so one can of predator will be almost identical to the next, whereas other brands may differ from batch to batch and even bottle to bottle
  16. Youre right, but when customs see gun parts go through in a parcel (and they most likely will) they are going to start asking questions, and their job is to assume that everyone will act like a fanny
  17. One of the various legal guidelines surrounding RIFs mentions this, and whilst the sending of RIF parts is legal, putting them together isnt, so the practice is frowned upon. And youre also likely to raise suspicion when two packages addressed to you have matching gun parts, i havent got any experience in the matter but i personally would expect a visit from some police shortly after i unpacked
  18. As i mentioned, longer/tighter barrel increases fps, shorter/wider barrel reduces fps. You can also buy a 1j bolt which is a nozzle that reduces power by letting less gas through. If youre short of cash but have good tools, you can try cutting the barrel down yourself, though this is a minefield and needs much care and research
  19. I hope you smacked him one for comparing a beautiful piece of british engineering with a hunk of american steel... Or at least gave him a good welt
  20. You can either use an npas bolt (not an ideal solution as i think that the setting gets put off over time, like a bad hop up), a 1j bolt, which lets less gas down the barrel, or you can install a shorter or a wider barrel
  21. An m4 will have most upgrade and mod freedom, coz it seems every single airsofter in the country has one or two m4s I have no doubt that people will suggest getting a g&g CM of some description, every thread like this gets that suggestion from a few people. Personally, id just try a load of guns at a skirmish. Borrow them off other players and find one in your budget that feels good and shoots well, its always better to try before you buy
  22. The other day it was my turn to be that guy. I moved up to cover with a brave rental player at a cqb site. After working out where the bbs were coming at us from, i made a quick plan, we both step out and put some plastic their way to get their heads down so i can move onto a flank. As i step out, i put my head about three inches in front of his barrel and was rewarded with a fantastic welt on the back of my jaw. There was much swearing
  23. Ukara wont be able to help you if you cant get the two months in. There are other defences that you could look into, but otherwise you could paint the gun(s) two-tone so that you can import an IF instead of an RIF, or sell them over in the US and use the cash to buy new ones over here once youve done the compulsory hire gun rituals
  24. Then that seal is truly goosed Have you checked both valves? Sometimes the gas can escape through one valve/seal and move through the mags casing to the other, making you think the good valve is leakinh
  25. If they are holding gas for a while, try filling them with a little maintenance gas, its done wonders for my mags
