  1. I use a large padded gun case, all 3 RIFs go in the case and all the mags except the pistol ones go in a seperate grab bag
  2. Were you shooting with the stock folded by any chance?
  3. As the title eludes to, Im looking for a way to carry some gas into skirmishes so i dont have to trek back to the safezone to gas up. Ive tried a VFC gas charger but it was just poor, only fitting my pistol mags and it must be leaking since i can only ever seem to fill one or two pistol mags at best. I dont like the idea of carrying a full propane bottle in a backpack, as i dont want to deny the sneaky bastards the chance to take me out because i cant feel hits on my back Airsoft Innovations used to make a GasCan that was basically the same as the VFC charger but people generally said it was ok, only nowhere has any in stock and it looks discontinued. is there any other way you guys know other than stashing a bag at the regen point? Thanks
  4. I wasnt upset that it had it, in fact i prefer it (if it were the right size ) What got me was that i thought the UBACS that i already had was army surplus, but i guess not.
  5. my army surplus UBACS mk2 arrived today, i didnt realise they had padded sleeves size medium was way too big for me, normally im somewhere between medium and Large, but i guess Armed Forces have larger fits
  6. the 3300 is damn expensive though, and ive never really been interested in tracer units. sure its handy to have a chrono attached to the gun, but i already have a supressor hiding the inner barrel extending past the outer barrel, so my barrel likely ends after the first sensor in the chrono if i were to fit a 3300
  7. Sorry, i meant 3200. The fireflies will have to wait for another day
  8. Ah, i may have mistaken it as an amendment, since it is listed completely separate on legislation.gov. technically though, this is actually a Regulation, which in fact sits underneath an Act of Parliament, and usually offers clarification. For example, the Work at height Regs, LOLER, and other Regulations sit under the Health and Safety at Work Act, but you can only ever be charged or convicted of a breach of the Act, and the regulations offer guidelines on the minimum standards of provisions for employers to provide (amongst other things., I wasnt involved in Airsoft at the time of these being introduced, but it may well be that the Act was drafted and the Amendment/Regulation was drafted before the commencement of the Act, and so the Regulatiuon is pretty much the same as the Act, but still technically seperate.
  9. a quick chrono test later, and some bad news: Using the Orga barrel in place of the stock barrel has reduced my muzzle velocity by around 50FPS, from a fairly consistent 295FPS on 0.25s to around 245 on the same ammo. So, to add to my list: GHK G5 high power nozzle Xcortech 3300 chronograph so i can test the results without having to drive 20 miles to me nearest chrono now all i need is a place to shoot to see the groupings at 20m+ and im golden, its a shame that theres nowhere in my garden that isnt overlooked by at least one property and the longest range i have inside is about 10m at best
  10. Airsoft-Ed is the man to speak to. howerer i do know about an issue with the pistol grip of the weapon not being attached too well, relying on just one short stubby screw to hold a 4kg rifle. obviously, this screw needs replacing as soon as you get the gun to prevent the threading in the grip being damaged
  11. This thread was supposed to focus on the better airsofters out there, both for their skill, but more importantly (in my opinion) for their honest and respectful play styles. Starting a flame was is the exact opposite of what the OP intended
  12. As sp00n said, wherever there is a chance that the lube you apply could find its way to something plastic or rubber, use silicone oil. Remember that high speed parts like pistons and gears will do their best to hurl (excess) lube where it dont belong I also avoid spray applied silicone, as it gets everywhere. Give me a dropper bottle and a tissue any day for delicate work
  13. Below is a list of all the regulations that have some influence over the sport of Airsoft. The Big Daddy: The VCRA: [Violent Crime Reduction Act: 2006] http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/contents The key sections are 35 - 40: Section 35 - It is illegal to buy or sell primers designed for metallic ammunition, or any metallic case incorporating or designed to incorporate a primer BFG users beware of using anything other than .209 primers Section 36 - it is illegal to either: Make an RIF convert an IF into an RIF sell an RIF Import or arrange the importation of an RIF NOTE: It is not illegal to buy an RIF. It is not illegal to own an RIF. It is not illegal to use an RIF (provided that it is NOT used contrary to the Firearms Act 1968) Section 37 - A person or organisation my engage in the activities described in Section 36 if they can make a reasonable claim to any of the specified defences: the act was carried out for a museum or gallery the act was carried out for theatrical performance the act was carried out for professional film-making (see the specific Regulation) the act was carried out for professional television programmes (see specific Regulation) the act was carried out for the purpooses of a historical re-enactment you were instructed by, or have the authority of Her Majesty NOTE: There are other defences outlined in the 2007 amendment Section 38 - Definitions of RIFs and IFs: RIF - any object (capable of discharging a missile?) that has an appearance so realistic as that it was indistinguishable to a real firearm, and is not a de-activated firearm or antique. so anything that looks like a real gun, is an RIF IF - any object that resembles a firearm, but can easily be distinguished as an imitation, without requiring a firearms expert to determine the difference, a close examination or comparison to firearm, or an attempt to load or fire the object So anything that can be recognised by a member of the public, by a quick observation as an imitation firearm. it does NOT need to be painted 51% bright colours, so long as it appears unrealistic Section 39 - Imitation Firearms It is illegal to modify an Imitation firearm so that it no longer conforms to the specification required of it. This does not include converting an IF to an RIF, as this is protected by the defences of Section 37 and controlled by Section 36. however, if the end result does not somehow conform as an RIF, then you may be charged with a breach of Section 39 Section 40 - Minors It is illegal for someone to sell an Imitation firearm (or RIF) to a minor, and it is illegal for the Minor to buy it (so both the seller and the minor can be criminally charged) The amendment to the big daddy: [Realistic Imitation Firearms Regulations 2007] (amendment to the VCRA) http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2007/2606/contents/made In a nutshell, this amendment extends the range of defences to include Airsoft Skirmishing as a "permitted activity" so long as the site operator holds suitable insurance (third party. public liability) IT also outlines that any object resembling a firearm but is smaller than 38 mm tall and 70mm long is not an RIF The One Didnt Think of: Firearms Act 1968 http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27/contents Note section 19(d) - It is explicitly illegal to have an imitation firearm (realistic or not) in a public place (it does not say carrying or displaying, only having with you, so technically, having it in the boot of your car on your way to a skirmish is included within this section, however, having proof of booking will be classified as having a "reasonable excuse" to satisfy this section. Always book onto your skirmishes in advance if you know of any other Acts or Regulations which apply to the ownership, use, or transportation of any Airsoft equipment, besides Acts or Regulations governing the sale of goods in general, let me know and i will update this list If you are aware of any sections of any Acts or Regulations on this list, which also apply, let me know and i will update the list
  14. ok, troubleshooting mode; Start at the stupidly simple and work towards the stupidly complex: Is the hop up turned on? Can it be turned up any more to rectify the problem? Is the nub/arm seated correctly on the hop up? if you apply the hop and look down the barrel, does the rubber appear to be level in the barrel without any twists or bumps? Is the tape modification fouling the movement of the Hop up parts? is there a difference between the two hop rubbers? are the mounds about the same size? and thats it for now, with a bit more info im sure i can think of a few more
  15. as above, to bring the gun into the UK as it is, will require you, the owner, to have a valid defence as prescribed under the VCRA (Violent Crime Reduction Act) to demonstrate that you will use the RIF in a safe manner. Lets put the airline aside for a moment, and concentrate on the legal side: 1) a UKARA REGISTRATION (not licence, as Lozart said) is the easiest way to obtain a defence, though probably not possible given your situation. is it possible to leave the RIF with a friend or relative for a couple of months whilst you "earn" your UKARA registration? 2) there are other defences, which might be worth looking into, you can read the particular part of the VCRA HERE and the amendment HERE. On the second link, search for the word Airsoft and you will find what you need. 3) if you can paint the gun so that it appears unrealistic (ignore the myth about having to paint 51% of the gun) you can import it as an IF provided that you are 18 or older. just make sure that you apply come common sense, paint something that isnt covered when you hold the replica, and use a bright colour that doesnt incorporate a camouflage. really, if i were you, id give the relevant parts of the VCRA and te documents in the second link a read, you should be able to figure out the best way of keeping your RIF that suits your own personal circumstances, and remember, most people on here will help you, just ask us Welcome to our community EDIT: the second part i forgot to write: As for the Airline, they may well be a little nervous about allowing an imitation firearm onto an aircraft, but after explaining what you intend to do well ahead of time, and transporting the RIF safely should sort all that out. First, ring the airline and ask if it is possible, explain exactly what you intend to carry, and make it clear that you want it to go into the hold, and not into the cabin with you then make sure it is kept in a suitable container, id personally put it into a hard case, locked securely. you can expect the lock to be broken when you get it off the carousel, as the security teams at both airports will probably want to inspect it to ensure that it isnt real (use a TSA padlock and they can open it without breaking it). keep a note in the case that explains what it is, that it is incapable of handling or discharging any form of ammunition other than lightweight BBs, that its muzzle energy is at or around 1j and that it is used for airsoft skirmishing. if you dont paint it, put your UKARA details in there as well, including Name, Full Address, UKARA number and any other details you can think of once you get to the airport, hand the case/bag over when you check in and explain what the contents are, so that they can make sure that it doesnt cause a scare later on down the conveyors and most of all, think of everybody that will handle or see the case/bag after you hand it over, and make sure that they have no reason to keep it from you. it goes without saying that the RIF should be inert, with no battery loaded and ideally, the magazines stored in a separate compartment or even a separate container and NEVER EVER use the word "Gun" "Firearm" or "Weapon" at the airport, whilst youre carrying a gun bag or gun case. Also DO NOT remove it from the case. if the check in clerk or security ask to see it, explain that it is an RIF and that you should take it to a private room first
  16. finally got the last piece for my G5, so after a bit of trial and error to get the Maple Leaf Omega nub to sit right (at which point i realised its not actually a flat nub. the bottom is actually slightly concave, so i might need a Namazu nub for a proper flat hop, but we'll see how this goes) and its all together. Now i just need to chrono the gun to see how the longer wider Orga barrel and different hop setup will affect the FPS. i dont know the bore diameter of the stock barrel, but i know that i have definitely installed a wider bore (6.23mm), but it is longer, so should cancel out a little of the FPS drop. if the FPS is less than about 320 ill have a go at a high output nozzle to see if i can get it to around 340. and ill resort to an adjustable nozzle if all else fails.
  17. Lets assume that you want to extend the EFFECTIVE range of your BBs so that you can actually hit peeps further away, rather than just keep their heads down: Heavier BBs are your friend, at 330 FPS, 0.28s should be doable or even 0.30s. the higher mass of the BB lets it push past more air and be less affected by the wind. some love in the hop up department is definitely cost effective. parts are cheap and they pay off well. try a few different set ups, different buckings and nubs and see which works best. an easy modification is a flat hop system, which might be worth a go, im trying it next with my G5 as it has an Orga Barrel which means i dont have to modify my bucking, though any other barrel will need you to modify a bucking. if you still want more results, and still have some cash, you can invest in a better barrel. there are many trains of thought here, and it doesnt really matter whether you go tightbore like the masses or widebore, as long as its a good quality barrel that you took your time to install, you will see better results. If i were to change the barrel in my AEG, i would go for a miracle barrel, as ive heard good things about them, but other barrels can be just as good. and of course, simple mods like packing your barrel to prevent wobble or vibration are very cost effective as well, so you shouldnt need to crack a gearbox to see good results.

check out the SU-122. crap armour but with a gun like that, just load HE and snipe some fools HEAT is NOT for long range fighting, it hardly goes 600m in a straight line
  19. just got all my goodies through the post, all im missing is my Prommy Purple bucking and my G5 will be lazor accur8 so i can 420snipe all teh nubs

Im still loving the RAF line of fighters, griffon-powered spitfires and my new baby, the Meteor mk3 Tank wise, cant beat those russians with their 122mm death star guns and 152mm armageddon launchers
  21. On saturday at Anzio, i walked to a ground floor window and saw a muzzle poke up from the lower left corner, pointing far to my right. I decided rather than shooting them or dropping a grenade 6 inches in front of their face, just to point my own muzzle round the window and ask him to surrender. He responded by shooting me in the hand He still called himself out though, so we had a laugh and learned never to do that again unless you are BEHIND the enemy
  22. All these sneaky moves remind me of three-bomb at the hive. As an attacker, taking out a bomb on the flank early is great, since the defenders soon migrate to the other bombs, leaving a massive gap to slip through unseen and get right up behind the clusters of enemies, ready for grenades, knife kills, or other assorted madness. I once rounded a corner, and due to not having a grenade, opened up with my SA80, after shooting 4 or 5 of them a stray friendly bb (or a mistaken shot after a bad PID) knocked me out, after which the first person i shot in the arse yelled "Im on your team!"... To which i replied "no i aint buddy, check your flank" i couldnt see his expression because of his mask but i dare say it was sour
  23. Well my thread was more about interesting or skilled plays, and occasionally the few true gentlemen showing their stripes and making someones day. Its always a better experience when you can shake hands afterwards or even exchange some friendly banter
  24. Hey all, After my last skirmish, i felt that i made a couple of good moves, and thought we should have a thread for sharing them. it doesnt matter if it was your move or someone elses. it didnt even have to work well, so long as it was interesting Firstly, clearing rooms at Anzio, i poked my head through a doorway just as someone was walking out. as we both jumped back, i spotted his band, and recognised him as an enemy. Not wanting to put my head back in the doorway in front of a gun, i called for his colour. At F&O, you can make this challenge, and they can't lie, but they can choose to say nothing. whilst he was thinking whether or not to answer, i moved down the hall to the other door into the room, stepped in, and shot him in the side as he said "Yellow", and got his mate for good measure More recently moving towards an objective, an old re purposed ambulance, over fairly open ground, me and my buddy spotted someone move up to the drivers door and poke his gun over the bonnet. since we had no cover, i decided to just move as fast as i could round the ambulance, to put something between me and him. As i got up to sprint, the enemy shot my buddy, and i took a few pot shots hoping for a lucky hit. as i passed the front of the ambulance, i felt my last shot a little different, and thought my bolt had locked back after the last BB, so as i burst through a tree at full sprint, whipped my pistol from the Serpa on my chest and traded one last BB with the enemy, who was wise to my plan and had turned ready... for my buddy and the two other friendly players near the ambulance waiting for a medic, it was quite spectacular. and finally, right at the end of the day, we were hiding in a bush, just outside a building we were to be defending, waiting for the attacking team to move in, then launch a counter attack. i spotted a lone enemy walking round the bush towards a thinner part of the foliage. as he reached it, i put three BBs at his chest, and each one bounced off thick holly. after a quick "Im not hit mate" and one lucky BB that found its way to my head, i was a little dumbfounded, but as i got up from my crouch, the enemy admitted that it was a goot hiding spot and i had caught him out, and that a real gun would have dropped him, and let me carry on, proof that there are indeed gentlemen playing the sport do you guys have any experiences like these?
