  2. That's pretty much what I've been doing at the lakes since I started managing it. The only difference between the Zed Adventures days and the Gunman days is the ammo limits and filmsim rules. I have always tried to maintain a more tactical, sandbox style of gameplay. The site doesn't lend itself to the fast sprintery of a typical skirmish due to its terrain and natural hazards. Sometimes players get confused by the briefings, because there was either too much going on or they weren't paying proper attention during the brief (Admittably, I am the kind of player that has a pen and notepad in my rig, despite not being a milsim player). I will also soon be trying out a 'real cap' event next year for those that want the extra bit of realism in thier airsoft, as well as plans for a bootfair. For everyone's information, here is a link to our filmsim rules, should you wish to have a read. https://gunmanairsoft.co.uk/rules-for-filmsim-open-days/ Please note some rules may vary across sites (At the Lakes, DMR ammo limit is the same as boltaction for example), but all is briefed at the start of the day. Whilst I don't enforce people to fall to the ground and roll about larping it up, I do try to encourage Players to have a bit of fun with it. Thanks for reading

  3. Yarp, agree 100%, fed up with the amateur hose fests we get on your average gameday, ammo limits or single shot is waaay better, what's the point of all this realistic kit & then the average player fires the equivalent of 1.5k "rounds" in a 60 minute game. In a real world comparison I don't think there's any army that would deploy a squaddie with more than 300 rounds on their person. That's not to say I want to go full milsim & wander around for 36 hours before we have a contact lol, but a regular skirmish day where players actually have to use their heads, that'll be a bit of a revelation.

I'm a firm believer in players trying sites out for themselves. I've had great days at sites which I've been told are crap and vice versa

  8. I don't play often & live far too far away but I'd actively avoid any skirmish that limited play (other on safety grounds), I get the whole Milsim/Larping thing & understand why players enjoy them but it's not for me. My reactions are very 56yr old I hit very little but love wasting ammo.

  10. Silent hit calls don't work - at regular events if players aren't calling thier hits then the shooter doesn't know they've been hit, therefore shoots more, then we start getting overkill, and players simply cheating. The standard filmsim rules keep you quiet if you are knife killed, as well has having a mandatory wait time before you can call 'dead man' and go to regen. We have done all those types of games as well. Night games are a no go at the Lakes - far too hazardous unfortunately.

  12. BackDraft Innvoations HPA unit with FCU Comany review and unit notes So, for a while I've been watching the Backdraft Innovations Channel. Specifically Aidan has desined and is selling his own HPA Engine, which also includes an FCU. Aidan is a one man band in the US who decided to manuafcture and market his own HPA Engine to conpare with the known brands of HPa like Wolverine and Polarstar. His goal originally, was to design his own HPA Engine and FCU, But he also ended up with such a good build at a great price, he decided to Sell them as a product. I've got to admit, Being able to watch a manukfacturer go through the build process to a fully working unit was the main reason why i watched his vids, but to have an engine that retailsout (in the US) at $250 all in is just jaw dropping. To compare.... Average prices for other engines (prices from hpauk) Mancraft PDik Gen3 £249.99 (mechanical, semi only) Wolverine Gen2 Inferno £329.99 Polarstar Jack £339.99 Polarstar Kythera £299.99 (mechanical, semi only) Gate Pulsar S with Titan FCU £484.98 Redline N7 Gen2 £299.99 Redline N7 Gen2 Milsim £284.99 (mechanical, semi only) Hopefully this will make the other manufacturers of HPA engines look at what they supply and at what cost. As it stands I think the cheapest ElectronicHPA engine after this is The HPA engine is a drop in unit. And is simple to install and maintain. The FCU has Semi, Full Auto, 3 round burst, Binary (yuck) and also has dwell and Delay adjustablity. They also have an extensive parts stock and sell all part on their site in order for you to find the parts you need super easy. The units are available in the Uk from hpauk, at a price of £259.99 + shipping) Link to UK reseller - https://highpressureairsoft.co.uk/ Website - https://backdraftinnovations.com/ Youtube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/@BackdraftAirsoft I'll write an install and usage review, and do a youtube install video when I get the chance. But overall I'm looking forward to adding this to my loadout. To confirm, I don't have anything to do with Backdraft Innvoation, or hpa uk. This is just my view and research on this.

    UKARA license enquiry

First of all, UKARA is not a license. It's a defence for an exemption. Secondly even if you had a FAC, you would still be unable to buy RIFs. I assume as you're asking here, your purchase has been pulled by customs and they've asked you for your UKARA? If so, sorry but that's getting confiscated and destroyed. I hope it didn't cost too much. I suggest if you want to own RIFs, just go and play Airsoft. It's really not a big ask.

  16. I thought my 553 + accessories was expensive.. (and the 5 pistols and 3 other rifles.) I feel better about my spending now! (So much so i bought another pistol!)

  17. And it's a gas gun, so mags are £60 each. If it was me, I'd want green gas and co2 ones as well, so I could use co2 when it's cold and green gas when it's warm. I totaled up what I would buy and I'd be looking at about £2000 + scope + extra external accessories for the 16" version. I think all in for everything I'd be looking at £2500, which is probably about double the price of my mk12 mod1 MWS setup

  18. I'd be up for this if I wasn't working that day. Personally I like games with ammo limits as it forces players to think about what they're doing rather than just hosing every bush they can see in the hope that they hit something

  22. I have a friend who has ordered one and a bunch of spare mags, both green gas and co2. He's been waiting for it for the better part of a year and has been really looking forward to it coming out. I've got my fingers crossed for him that it's good, because they're incredibly expensive! Makes my MTW 308 look cheap by comparison 😂

  25. Yeah. They're pricey. They do include extra mags but still... https://toxicantairsoft.com/collections/ngsw-xm5-series Alternatively there will be an inevitable APFG/VFC for cheaper. Apparently people have already converted VFC M110s into XM5s...

Hi Tanaka M700 gas sniper rifle in good working order. Receiver has been bead blasted as finish was poor when I got it. Has action army fluted bolt, action army fluted outer barrel, and has the action army vsr hop unit. Stock has couple of scuffs but nothing major. Comes with 1 short mag, 2 long mags which all seem to be holding gas ok. Also original bolt which is screwed, and some spare G&G upgrade parts. will sell for £225 with everything except scope and rings, or £275 with brand new Victoptics 4-16 x 44 scope and rings. post extra £10 parcelforce 48

  28. Must admit i'd like to see more fire mode restricted events from more outdoors sites. Semi-auto only games to encourage *some* trigger discpline from certain individuals but i'd also beg for this to be mandatory in night games from my previous experience(s).

  30. Hey folks, Val/Tony, Site manager of Battle Lakes (not owner). First of all, I'd like to acknowledge and say thankyou for your kind comments in this thread - it means a lot at this time for unrelated reasons. As some of you already know I have been part of Battle Lakes for a considerable amount of time, through the good patches and the not so good patches, driven on purely by my love for the game/hobby/spobby. I have written many games and themes over the years that have been held at Battle Lakes. Ever since it's original inception by my predecessors, Battle Lakes has always been a site that 'offers more than a regular skirmish', with a staple of that being the 2x 2 hour game times, with the second half being either a reversal, or a continuation of the mission/storyline as opposed to having 4-6 shorter based plays. It has also long been 'a semi only unless LMG' site in order to provide better Firefights and reduced overkill through less hosing of BB'S. I think the only reason The Lakes has seen such a slower and sneakier rate of game play is down to the lower number of boots on the ground, than the filmsim playstyle itself. I have been told in the past the term 'filmsim' and the different ruleset can be off putting to players - (especially the LARP aspect) but also rules such as the semi only rule (n/a LMGs), the ammo limits per deployment, where you can/cant reload your mags, box mag restrictions. Feedback has also shown that players find some of the game briefs confusing, with too much going on. For this reason we opted to run the faster paced Battle Field event (domination followed by fall back) one week and then a more story line driven, slightly more mind working event the next. Despite this, numbers have still been low on both counts and we were forced to drop to one event a month. Whilst I know Battle Lakes isn't as developed as many other sites structure wise, there are materials on site that I am slowly working through in order to bring it up to date to meet players needs, and I'm always willing to listen to suggestions from players. In regard to social Media, I'm not the best at it (having only just joined this airsoft forum), But I do intend to implement this forum more, starting with getting a Battle Lakes forum up and running in the appropriate channel. Our dedicated Gunman Battle Lakes Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/share/15RAdYzKne/ Our new players hub group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/959490256013175/?ref=share And we have Instagram - @Gunman.battle.lakes (for ease of uploading pictures I take on site during events). And @gunmanbattlelakes (managed by other gunman staff). I have always been, and will always be appreciative of the players that play at and support Battle lakes as a site. I shall put the question to the forum - What do you guys want to see from Battle Lakes? What sort of games/events would you prefer to see happening? Thankyou for reading.

  31. Looks interesting, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread to see how it goes Are there problems with using semi auto? If so can you elaborate please. Or is it a case of I've got the wrong end of the stick and you just prefer bolt action guns?

    Batteries

A 7.4v battery with standard 18:1 gears and a standard G&G motor will be a bit sluggish. The G&G ETUs are designed to work with higher voltage batteries; the best thing to do is to swap the board for the Perun ETU++. Not only is it better quality and works with 7.4v batteries, but you also get adjustable precocking.

  35. I've got my veterans card as I did 13 years in a organisation similar to being in the military, the RAF. If you did 1 day or 22 years the card is worth getting as you can get 1/3 off every train ticket out there for 30 quid a year. going back to the original post about Novichok, there does seem to be a high number of his airsoft parts in the 2nd hand market which kind of suggests people buy them and aren't exactly happy with their purchase.

If you want reasonably simple, try Flames of war. The older stuff is white metal but the more recent stuff and the "Team Yankee" WW3 stuff is all plastic.
