Red Dot/Reflex Sights on Pistols....
Fozzy99 and one other reacted to SeniorSpaz87 for a topic
So heres some real steel context, from someone whos worked on a top tier range for the last several years. Dots are certainly faster. Dots work in any light. If you have good recoil control dots can allow for faster follow-up shots. The main issue you have Kasaran is how far forward your dot is. Thats just going to exponentially increase your dot's sway. Now, for airsoft theyre... less important. Yes, you can still find a sight picture faster than irons. Yes, they still work in the dark. But if you can't control the recoil of your gun in airsoft then go back to nerf haha. Plus, the only real use for a pistol in the military is for someone like a sniper with a long gun whos going close range (same with MEDs), or for when you run out of ammo in your primary (more difficult in the world of midcaps and high caps). Finally people tend to spam-fire in airsoft anyway, not even giving themselves time to reacquire the sights after a shot. I personally have dots on two of my many pistols: my TM G18 that I use as a dryfire/training gun more than a skirmish gun, and my mk23. It usually stays in my pack at MilSims with a lot of indoor play, as I like to find a dark corner and essentially assassinate people with the silenced mk23, and the dot helps me make sure my first round is going to be at least aimed properly. So they arent really all that useful in airsoft compared to the real world. Oh, and while many militaries shy away from dots due to much harsher conditions for their guns and gear, many LEO forces are going to them. Probably 2/3 LEO members that come through our school have dot guns now, and are either in the process of transitioning themselves or their department over to them. Its easier to teach "put dot on target" than " make sure this post is centered between these two posts, and then make sure the top of that post is even with those two posts. Dots also make longer-range shots much easier. We ran a new course this past Fall that we told our SEAL instructors to make as an "Advanced Operators" course (pretty much meant: "go crazy, we dont even want yall to be able to clear this course), and on long range (25 & 50 yrds) distances the guys using dots statistically scored a fair bit high both on shot accuracy and number of shots on target in the timed scenarios.2 points -
3d Printed Holsters / Gash?

I prefer a soft holster that protects the gun. I lay on it or crawl sometimes. Also, it's closer to the body.1 point -

that can be arranged ๐ true, but that is something that i will be putting together over the next few months, as aside from the AFUK meetup, i dont expect to be attending too many CQB games over the early part of this year1 point

If you want to move away from the AR15 clones then have a look at the cyma AKS74U. About the same length as the MP5 and cyma ak hop units have a reputation for phenomenal range1 point -
Thank you for your responses, one of my friends has contacted me saying he plays and that I can use a couple of his guns to see what play style I like. Personally Iโm a grenade and rush kind of guy lol. Hopefully see you boys in the field soon and not down your sights.1 point

Hi Rob and welcome.๐ Have you got time for another hobby? Lol Regards1 point

Welcome Rob, to this mad community and the crazy which is Airsoft (not that we can play any time soon due to the current climate) but welcome anyway.. You will find that there is a whole wealth of knowledge here... there are quite a few sites too around the Northants area both woodland and CQB... If you haven't played airsoft yet, then book yourself onto a site where they allow the use of hire 'guns'. They will provide a full set of face protection, BB ammo and of course the RIF (gun) itself.... then all you need to do is run around and start believing you're part of SEAL Team 61 point

Choices Choices, CQB Outdoor
Zitch reacted to Predator EAT-14 for a topic
Last time I was able to go I ended up using my ARP9 at a place called reaper ops which is a nice mix of cqb and outdoor. Really impressed with the gun and certainly didn't feel outranged at all. After a few hundred rounds the hop rubber settled nicely and was really consistent. Just bear in mind it's a lot louder than you realise, I wasn't exactly able to sneak through the tunnels, once I let a shot off everyone knew where I was lol.1 point -
depends on your budget. and i can only offer opinions on the guns i currently on, but my nuprol pioneer defender (approx ยฃ110) works well enough for me in both CQB and outdoors out of the box. my one has had a M105 spring and a new hop bucking fitted and runs beautifully with .25s. i also recently ran my totally stock TM P90 (approx ยฃ280) and it had really impressive range on it for such a compact weapon (i didnt measure it out, but i estimate about 40-50 metres...) my SMC-9 is a good gun if you want to look at gas blowback guns around the ยฃ250 mark, however i only ran my one once at an outdoors site as a secondary that only fired a few shots, so i cannot really offer a good opinion on it compared to the p90 in terms of performance, but in terms of size its only a little larger than a p90, but the magazines are a little harder to come by1 point

Very nice WWII gear pics here! Hope it's ok to just post gun-pics aswell, as I don't play or reenact, just collect I'll start with one of the very few non-airsoft modelguns in the collection: Shoei FG42 late version. If you ever get the opportunity to get your hands on one of these, take it! They re superbly built and incredibly nice collector's pieces. Had 2 of them for a while, the one without scope is sold by now. The one with scope has a very rare real ZF4 with even rarer, highly professionally reproduced Krieghoff mount rings made of steel.1 point
