I take it you don't have any indoor sites nearby? I've played in strong winds before and it can hilarious or bloody frustrating watching your shots fly away

Thanks to very high winds, I once shot a guy that I couldn't even see.  I took a shot at someone, the BBs went off at an angle partway through the flight and whizzed around a barricade, hitting the chap behind it.

Of course, it was intended.

Usually 5 but think I'll take the 416 to try which means another 2

Are they very little ones or do you just do a lot of shooting?

A bit of both lol, I got 5 of these mainly coz they fit almost everything (even my L85A3), I habitually charge them all, the 416 takes a stick which I happen to have coz they fit my AK's too. I'll prob use up one of each just breaking the springs in as none of my pews have had a bb through them since July.

Well that was a wet and windy one today, wasn't it? Went to Worthing for their annual tribute game called "Tom's game" in honour of Tom Andrews, the former owner and one of the real original airsoft guys in the UK who was an utter legend; he was the guy who got me into airsoft and was a lovely chap who just wanted to get people into the hobby. Got nothing but good things to say about the guy, but he unfortunately passed away about 9 years ago (I think, but could be wrong on the exact number), so every year the 2nd game day in January is in honour of him.

That also said, I only played the first game (well, two games, but it was the same games but switching sides) today. Left my pistols, holsters, belt kit and ghillie (both my ghillie and rifle ghillie) in the car and just went out with my SRS. One mag in the gun, 4 mags in my pockets and no pistol for sub 30m engagements, so I had to be careful. It was a simple king of the hill style game at the tower base, and so I took up my favourite spot in the first game and got a load of kills from that spot, still totally invisible without my ghillie as nobody even shot at me, then 2nd game I... really started to feel the wind. I was trying to shoot at a guy through a gap, but the wind was catching my BBs before they even got to the gap and blew them way off course. It was during this game that it also started to rain fairly heavily, so I called it there. Had fun, games were simple but fun, no issues with anyone not taking their hits, and even the rentals were good today, both on hit taking and standard rental behaviours of giving your position away or friendly firing you; none of that happened!

I knew I wasn't going to play too much with the forecast how it was, so the other guns I brought along were the Tanaka m700 AICS and my MTW 308. It's hard to say exactly because the wind was so strong, but both guns were performing flawlessly (all my shots were veering off to the right because of the wind, but the hop trajectory looked good!). I used my HPA tapped mag to test the m700 and with the parts I put in it it's shooting phenomenally well, then I set the MTW up for 1.82 - 1.84J on .43s as a DMR with the dwell appropriately set for the new 420mm 6.08 PDI barrel I had spare and so chucked in it (that was the power spread. Really consistent!). No longer having any issues with the inconsistent hop up either, so that is now (finally!) all sorted, so going forward that'll be my main gun until the weather warms up and I can go back to my mk12 MWS as my DMR and my various m700s as bolt actions.

Very productive day, but far from ideal weather conditions for airsoft, especially sniping!

First skirmish of the year for me, Yellow team (us) were tasked with attacking the ammo dump & lobbing a bomb in to win... yellows were made up of the usual diehards and slowpokes (mainly me) & a couple of friendly renters. Yellow won but IMO reds played a cracking game, they really took the 'best form of defence is attack' ideology to heart, after yellows took the main bunker one sneaky red calmly knived about 3 or 4 of us from behind and shot another couple from right in the middle of our group, to be fair (and in his own words) he then got LIT UP, this seemed to form the reds whole gameplay as at least 5 or 6 would try to flank us but we got wise, they did get a couple of us but on the whole were repelled, I got a couple before getting teamkilled & had to watch a red walk right past me as I waited my 3mins (no chance of a medic).

Game 2, yellows were to defend the bank full of gold, if the reds captured it yellows were then on the attack to try and recapture it. I set up camp in a bunker knowing the attackers often swarm from that side & swarm they did. I only got 1 before taking a hit so off to the spawn point I went, I returned to another bunker at the side of the game area but a red with great range caught me & as I headed back to the spawn I decided to head home, not gonna lie but my boot full of bog water & mud was bugging me a lot, I'm fat lad and enjoy the site on a dryish day but adding another couple of kg's to my footwear broke my fun button.

I took the HK416A5 (used for game 1) which performed very well but would benefit from a stronger spring (might try a bigger battery first). My L85A1 was used in game 2 but as I was removing the sling the reds attacked & I panicked, threw it at my feet & started pewing in their direction, I remembered about the sling as I headed to the spawn point but TBH decided the trip back wasn't worth the effort so told one of the renters where it was & that he (Ross) was welcome to it.

I had the T3 MC51 in the car as a backup, a Browning Hi-power & P38 as sidearms but they never left the boot of my car.

On the whole I enjoyed my games right up to when I went knee deep into a bog, POW is my usual site and I'd recommend it to any players close enough to travel to it.

p.s. this was waiting at the door for me so just as well I'd left early.

After an utter debacle last Sunday, when I spent most of the day attempting to fix the lad's new G36K so that he could use it before returning to the urban wasteland that is Stoke, I was supposed to be at a private invitation game at Airsoft Plantation today.  Unfortunately, they had to cancel it, so I fitted a Perun Hybrid to my new JG FN FAL instead.

Unfortunately, I cannot make the rearranged date as I am going to "tanz mit Laibach" the night before and will not be in any state to get up early the next morning.

Way ahead of you. 😉

TBH I had this on a Mk18mod0 build so I'll need to replace it at some point.

"How did your airsoft day go?"

About sums it up.

Theatrics aside, finally managed to get my CYMA's tracer AK hop to play somewhat nice (trust me, this unit is absolute crap and I wish I could replace it but the rotary I bought didn't fit) and shoot in a relatively straight line but the accuracy is still pretty naff out of the 455mm ZCI barrel I popped inside, so might end up looking into something else if anybody has any pointers - my mate was having an absolute howler of a game however with his gear being annoying, his Arcturus AK-12 PE which has been the steady horse for the best part of a year misbehaving and a few other niggles. Used the WELL MCX Rattler with no problems after the Airtac AK adapter decided to do the above but it was only brief because my mate decided to pack up, some days are just bad gear days. Missed the rain which was a bonus, and waffled some shit with the other regulars until the games finished so we could get out [we were boxed in the corner]

Also didn't get to use the WEagle at all, as it was struggling to cycle due to the weather but the new P229 holster from Ali was nice and it perfomed as well as a non glock could. Nothing broke excluding the adapter, which was a nice change of pace!

Today I went to that curate's egg of a site, Splatoon in Essex.  My main reason for going was to set up three newly acquired and upgraded guns on their well marked out and very clear 50m range.  More about one of these later.

With this done and the safety briefing out of the way, followed by the briefing for the first game, we set out to play fallback through the barrel yard, the barricades and the two parts of the container field; after the attackers had cleared each area, there was a reset before they could attack the next.  As the defenders, we had one life in each area, while the attackers had infinite regens on a marshal.  This was a reasonably hard fought game and we were slowly pushed out of the first two areas; after we had set up in the first half of the container field, the enemy began their assault on that.  I was positioned in the pallet pile; four enemy players ran past me and positioned themselves on the back of a structure about 15-20m from me.  I had a perfect line of sight to them and put a couple of rounds into each of them; two of them took the hits, while the other two turned around and returned fire!  I had already shifted position and flicked to three round burst, which they took.

Our defence collapsed pretty quickly in both parts of the container field; the attackers completed their mission in 42 minutes.

When the game was turned around, our assault was noticeably slower; a few of us tried to keep the momentum going but most of the team seemed unwilling to press forward.  We ran out of time after an hour, while we were still clearing the final area.  By then, about half our team had already gone back to the safe zone; a few left at lunchtime.

After lunch, we set off for a game called Smokes.  Starting at opposite ends of the container field, each team had to collect three smoke grenades of their colour (purple for us and yellow for the other team) from a marshal who was at the far end of the site, bring them back and set them off in three locations in the container field. We split into two groups, one of which would get the smoke grenades, while the rest of us attempted to secure the locations; this resulted in some good fights, during which I got some lovely kills, including one from a couple of nicely aimed shots under a car.  However, one enemy player located behind a door was blind firing around it by shoving his gun around the edge of it and firing wildly.  A few of us shouted at him, pointing out that he was blind firing, but he persisted, so a few three round bursts aimed at his hand were deemed necessary.  The enemy won this game 3-0.

When we returned to the safe zone, more players disappeared.

The final pair of games involved transporting a VIP in the form of a very large stuffed toy zebra from the lower end of the field to either of the helicopters in the container field.  Our much diminished team made a decent attempt at preventing the enemy from doing so, but were overwhelmed while trying to split our limited resources defending two locations.

When the game was reversed, we failed to break into the container field, while the chap carrying the VIP ran around in multiple directions.  I got a number of nice kills on players in the upper levels of the container village and around some of the structures, but it was all somewhat frustrating.

Thus ended a somewhat average day of airsoft.

Weapons used:
JG FN FAL (SA58)
ASG XP18 Commander (CO2)
Classic Army ISSC Mk22 (An Austrian designed .22 version of the SCAR, because clearly the world needs such a thing!): it only lasted for a very short time before the extremely torquey brushless motor destroyed the CA spur gear, which appears to have been made from the most brittle material possible.  I had suspected that this might happen, but it was interesting to see.

How's it doing for you mate?

Very good!

Added a flat 6x3 admin pouch to the front so I can have my phone, leatherman and game documents at hand.

Was considering a small dangler too but I'm going to wait for now, don't want to have too much capacity and overload it.

The only pic I have of the full kit (yes it's a Decathlon skate helmet, I have a rather substantial noggin and I can't fit it in 99% of the Airsoft helmets out there).

Also yes I'm fat.

This afternon I went and played at First and Only The Vault in Bury

Ive played here multiple times now and it will be the site where I get my UKARA from next month

Its really well run and offers some good CQB due to the nature of the setup, with plenty of corridors and turns to set up ambushes in

We played a total of 5 games in the 3 hour slot with approx 5 mins break in between games

First off was a standard team deathmatch to get warmed up and test the gear out, and for the renters to figure out the map.  I even managed to knife kill my eldest lad for my first kill of the day, he was not happy and I think it made him hunt me down even more than normal.

2nd game was Domination.  This is my favourite game mode.  Today I decided to patrol the lab area and lock that down as best I could.  I managed to take down over half the team on multiple occasions by being a sneaky bastard and getting behind them, making for some vey easy kills.

3rd game was Find the bombs. A total of 3 bombs were hidden in the map and you had to find them and return them to you spwan.  We found all 3 pretty quickly, so the marshalls decided to take 2 from us and hide them again.  This mode was pretty much a team detahmatch after that as we had already won.

4th game was a free for all, Im not really sure this mode works to well to be honest as you get the idiots shooting you, and then just waiting round the corner for your 10 second count to finish before shootng you again.  Sort of takes the fun out of it, but I guess with a decent set of players this wont happen.

Final game was another team deathmatch as the majority of the renters had quit after game 4, I think they were fed up of getting shot tbh.

Next week may be a week off, but heading back to Level 2 the following Saturday
