AshOnSnow
Now I have my sniper up and running, I need to get some BBs to ru through it. I tried Longbow .40s and they were ok but I had a few fliers fairly often, too often for comfort. The useful range is 50m, that’s where I can hit an A5 sheet with them. 65-70 for A4, anything over 70 is a wild guess. I have a Maple Autobot in AA VSR chamber installed, 6.02 430mm barrel and it shoots just over 500fps on .20s (site chrono Yesterday at 506, 503, 502), so I’m wondering now if I have the best brand, if I’ll be able to lift .46s down to A3 @ 80m? Suggestions on brands and weights? White is definitely a bonus.
Supporters M_P Posted June 19, 2018 Supporters Share Posted June 19, 2018 Have you tried washing your BBs? Not something I've personally done but some people swear by it

How far is your hop dialed “in”? Have you enough room to use .46s etc without needing to R hop the barrel(if not done already) Try a batch of Geoff’s .43s, see if you see any improvement, if you still have room on the ole hop dial, try moving up to .45s, the heavier BBs will travel further, just be mindful of joule creep, some sites chrono for this, others don’t, the ones you play at don’t if I remember correctly. Im actually not 100% sure how much I have it dialed in for the longbows. The autobot bucking has a fairly long patch on it though, so the next best thing to r hopping without actually r hopping. I might see if I can get a little sample pscket of each of those BBs, rather than pay full whack for the .43s if I can go straight into .46s Although, if the hype about novritsch BBs is founded on anything solid, they’re all bio now which is a bonus. Wo1f
I would definitely try .46 or heavier. I run .43 in my 400 FPS DMR. A maple leaf bucking should be able to sky a .5 with enough pressure applied. As for BB’s.. geoffs I consider to be the best. I’ve also had no issues with the little tubs of accuracy international ASG BB’s (.36,.40,.43 I think) longbows are good too, I’ve only used about 2000 for testing and I make sure I keep them dry though. Cleaners inc
I have have good results with asg precision .43g B.B. when I had my TM VSR. I have a left over bottle of 1000 I can send you for £13 posted if you wanted to give them a try.

Steveocee
I have a VSR GSPEC with standard TM hop unit and rubber. Have upgraded some bit son it and it runs roughly around 480fps (seems to vary at each site so I'm blaming the chrono). Either way I tried the ASG 0.4's when I first built it and they shot quite nice, very rarely a flyer but then I moved on and found the Geoffs 0.43's and I'll probably never go to another brand or weight. They are perfect, fly brilliantly and I have no problems reaching out with them, 4 "clicks" on my hop and they fly off upwards (not even half way up the levers travel). Geoffs also do a 0.45 option (I think, it may be 0.46) if you wanted to go a touch heavier.
AndyDynamic
Not a lot to add here but another vote for Geoffs. Before our Striker ripped apart it's stock cylinder, 0.36 Geoffs were amazing to use.
Supporters Prisce Posted June 19, 2018 Supporters Share Posted June 19, 2018 Don’t use Novs BBs, they are ridiculously priced. As much as I dislike the guy, Kicking Mustangs range of BBs are identical to Novs and a lot cheaper.
AshOnSnow
Looks like a lot of love for mr Geoffrey. Has anyone had any experience with Geoff’s .48s on an Autobot hop? It *should* lift them, at a push.
Wo1f
I’ve skied some .43’s with a 70d autobot bucking in a custom mega arms 308. Specs are: 430fps 410mm 6.01 maple leaf autobot 3D printed chamber as long as you have the arm travel, you should be able to lift anything with that bucking

Gave me a greater air seal, and gained a few mate yeah, if memory is correct it was in the 4-8 fps range. Simple mod though, done it on all my guns and I’d say if you can stay within limits to do it. You over with hop on?

I hadn’t applied much hop when it wasn’t through chrono at the site last week, was shooting 503-506 FPS which they didn’t mind, but if that went up to 510 it’ll be too hot. P13
I’d say leave it then mate to be honest. Not worth the risk, what aping you got in there? Could always drop the spring to allow improved air seal?
