  1. If I didnt live in the US Id sent you mine. Well, let me know. I know theres a few other differences between the 85 and 86 as well; I dont think the barrel brace rod is going to cause an issue, but one does have to remember the bipod and that the handguard is actually shorter on the L86. Oh well, it may just be a pipe dream but I want a RIS'd L86 😧
  2. Any idea if one of these would fit on a STAR/ARES L86? Id love to give my longboi a makeover, but Im unsure as to the compatibility between the 85 and 86.
  3. Ive always wanted to do a WWII build, but get put off for various reasons. Im slowly making progress though. When I lived in the UK I did have a "Downed aircrew" setup that included a RAF bomber jacket, Colt Peacemaker revolver (before the US got involved in the war a lot of these were shipped over to the UK), and a stolen MP-40 (as in from a German. Not, you know...). That was years ago though, back before I could do anything as simple as replace a bucking. Ive done several Soviet early Cold War loadouts, so I am working my way to WWII. I like the idea of going with a boltie over just being another MP-40/Sten/Thompson; since Ive got a VSR-X it can certainly preform. The main issue with it is its size - its got a much wider barrel than any of the mainstream WWII bolties. I am not locked down to any one faction, but I do have the US/British handguns already - that same Peacekeeper (I just pulled it out after not touching it for 4 years and it still works fine), and an old Western Arms SV Infinity 1911 that I fitted with some real Colt 1911 grips. Its not perfect, but close enough. Ive also got several pages of gear bookmarked that I just havent pulled the trigger on... Maybe once Covid winds down a bit and work money starts flowing again... Then again, I am making good headway into my DP-28 build. Russian LMG gunner anyone?
  4. Coming from the MilSim side of things, I find the "relaxed" medic rule to be the best, and an adaptation to fit weekend games would be easy. For the games I often attend, its: player gets hit, starts bleed out. If medic'd by a friendly you're back in, down a life. If 5 minutes goes by, head back to respawn and reset your lives. While MilSims tend to need bandaging or something similar, the 10 second hands-on rule works just fine for weekend games. Dead players waiting for a medic follow normal dead player rules, must sit or lie down, red rag or light for low light games, etc. The advantages of a system are, of course, what @Lollingsgrad said, plus it gives a side more things to focus on. Do you, as a player, run up to medic a friendly - taking yourself out of the fight for the 30 sec or so it takes to get to them and medic them, or do you hold an advantageous position? That being said, it creates an interesting sudden lull when someone has bled out - as all these players suddenly head to respawn. It allows the winning team to take some ground, and keep the game going. The constant revive system like Lollings mentioned can make taking out a player seem pointless, if all he has to do is walk back a few meters, and now youve lost the element of surprise. I've had events that I planned for weeks get washed down due to poor spawn placement - no one wants to have to climb a massive hill to get to the respawn at the top. Im a little pudgy but used to being on my feet all day in a good amount of kit - working as a range instructor does that to you. And armor inserts add a lot more weight than the stuff I switch out for airsoft. Yet a normal one and done spawn system just bogs things down on larger fields. So yea, Im all for medic rules for larger games.
  5. If you wear a Plate Carrier of any sort, check out IcePlates. Assuming they exist in the UK. If its going to be a really hot day Ill freeze two - one for the front and one for the back. As they fit in your plate pouch theres no need for a pack of any sort. I use them for casual games, full blown MilSims, range days, and even hiking though obviously in a backpack and not in a vest haha.
  6. Hey, its the necro-man. Posted some range time today - I was testing out my new GoPro Max, and figured if I cant play airsoft, lets try it on something a bit louder and more expensive. I also posted my Microgun Hill video - a vid I didnt plan to post due to my helmet mount coming loose and causing that pinging sound. But people wanted it, so its up. Ive also posted some pre-Covid footage from my US indoor site. Not a huge fan of it, but then again Im spoiled due to The Mall.
  7. Or you can go all out with a Marui haha
  8. Ive got both. The TM MP7 GBB was my first larger RIF, and worked well at The Mall. I also have the Bingo HPA variant of the AEP. I like it more than the GBB due to better range, accuracy, and rof - but again thats on HPA. The AEP should be fine for CQB, but if you want that coolness factor then go for the GBB.
  9. Disagree completely. HPA is just as fine as anything else - its the players that make it an issue. This DSG that shoots 60RPS is the same as this HPA that shoots that. At the same time, this AEG that shoots 25RPS isnt any different than this HPA that shoots the same. Sure, its easier for HPA users to crank up the ROF/FPS, but it still comes down to the player to do so. I own around 12 HPA guns; from my Wolverine Bolt VSR to a semi-locked G28 to 18 RPS Daytonas to LMGs in the upper 20s to my CA M132 Microgun at 32RPS all the way up to a 60RPS Classic Army M134 Minigun. Banning HPA just means youre either too lazy or dont care enough to properly marshal it. Now, does speedsoft belong at every field? No. And youll find that most speedsofters have difficulty playing at most fields - no cheek weld with no sights on a gun tuned for high-semi ROF doesnt really help you that much against an LMG 60m away. You wouldn't find any speedsofters at The Mall back in the day - Luke and the crew would shut down that style of play. Let the speedsofters have their paintball-esque fields and tiny indoor arenas; they arent really an issue elsewhere. And where they are they tend to be banned pretty quickly for breaking the rules.
  10. If youre truly going ground-up, make the cylinder v2 spec. I know several people who would love to HPA one of these, but to do so the cylinder and piston area needs to be v2 spec. Also, though im sure its due to simply being a rough mock-up, but add rails (probably top rail, with optional Mloc or Keymod so people who like attachments can add them) and a threaded barrel. If possible, use existing magazines (Umarex UMP or Echo 1 MP5 straight mags would work well). Stock options would be nice as well - either a MP7-style collapsible stock or a simpler MPX-style that attaches to a rail would be easy to configure, and could easily be run with or without a stock. Im curious to see how youre going to implement the trigger - theres not really any room for a trigger board or contacts with the mag and barrel right there. If you get seriously into the build, make a post about it - Im sure there are plenty of people on here smarter than me who could help you out.
  11. Hey, everyone knows that custom paracord wrapping is valued around at least $135 an hour
  12. Yea theres a lot of that. Im currently building mine into an MG36, but even then I still slightly cringe whenever I take it out. Then again, the second I pull the trigger people know its not a cheap gun (Got a Daytona engine in it). However after seeing @GothicGhost's I might have t send mine off to be cerakoted like my 417a2...
  13. Hasnt been that way for a few years now. Ask me 5 years ago and Id agree. However nowadays theres a reason the SEALs went to the P226 and the Army has gone to the P320. Sig has really been knocking it out of the park in the past few years. Now i have a bit of experience, working for a Military/LEO training academy, as well as having access to my own toys. Here in the US my options for real toys is a bit more extensive than across the pond. Sig is quickly becoming my favorite shooting company. But heres a breakdown of what I own and what I use. Pistols: for training its my S&W M&P9 Pro. Its had slight trigger work done and fiber optic sights; otherwise its stock. Ive recorded myself shooting it as fast as a split time of .16 seconds. If I was to shoot a compeition though id use a different gun. For a straight up pistol comp id be hard pressed to choose between my Wilson Combat 9mm 2011, or my Sig P320 Legion. Both are phenomenal guns. For a PCC/pistol hybrid match id go with my G19X. Not as smooth as the other three, but still up there. The first Glock I actually liked to shoot. The reason Id use it is magazine compatibility. Ill come more into this when I talk about PCC. My carry brings me back to Sig. I carry a P365 with a thumb safety. Small, large ammo capacity, good sights, comfortable grip. Its just a nice small gun. Now. PCCs. These are my bread and butter. I own like 10. 2 Colt 9mm ARs, Kriss Vector, Sig MPX, Kalashnikov USA KR-9, Keltec Sub-2000, Flux Defense MP-17 (PCC version of a Sig P320), and a few others I dont really use. Im actually thinking of saving up and getting one of the recently released SP5s (Civi MP5s). Because why not - though the approx 3 grand price tag will make it easily the most expensive gun I own). Of them, the Kriss is my favorite to shoot. No contest. The 45* bolt is great, theres almost no muzzle rise, I can share mags with Glocks, and I can dump a 32 round mag into a torso at 15m in under 10 sec. The KR-9 is actually a close second in that regard. Very nice to shoot, unlike most AKs. Almost a competition-level trigger out of the box. The MPX is the one I'd take to war though. Accurate, small, compact, and a great shooter. Ive shot and won many matches with it. The Keltec is my car gun; folded up it sits between my door and seat. 4 second deployment and I have a 16in barreled rifle ready to go. The final one to talk about is the MP-17. The shortest of the bunch, and the least comfortable to shoot. But it gets the job done, and the fact that it can be holstered is nice too. Its a cool thing to whip out to show friends, and its what sits by my bed at night. But I wouldn't shoot a comp with it, nor pick it as a go to war gun. Ill also probably pick up an EVO because why not, and who knows? Maybe a Beretta CX-4. Rifles: not as big a fan of these. Nothing against them, I just have maybe a 1/10 of the hours behind them that I do with PCCs, and those are about a 1/10 of the time ive had behind pistols. I own a few tricked out ARs of various makes, two MCXs, a mk16 and mk17, an AR-10, and various others. 7.62 is fun and all, but its a go to war round. Expensive to waste ammo with at the range, so those two dont get much range time. I will say though - now that FN has ironed out the issues with the original SCARs the mk17 shoots as well as a 556, and I like that. Now, if you havent shot a SCAR before though, youll likely break your thumb. That bolt reciprocates and will wallop you. I got lucky and only wacked myself. Now my SCARs are set up AK style. The MCXs are both a dream to shoot. The first is 556 and is a standard pistol variant. The second is chambered in 300 Blackout (though I do also have a 556 barrel setup) and is a Virtus. Whenever I have to demo long guns Ill use one of these. ARs are ARs, I dont need to talk about them. Ive also shot AUGs, Tavors, AKs, Galils, Fn2000s, m14s, and many more. Ill own some of them someday; the AUG is the nicest Bullpup Ive ever shot. The Tavor couldn't hold a zero at 100 yrds. The AKs always fall apart. Sure you can just stick them back together, but having to find your charging handle in the middle of a gunfight isnt ideal. Accuracy is also subpar stock. I also own an SKS, Lee Enfield, M14, M1 Para, and a ton of other guns I didn't mention as they are either collectors pieces (like my German 32 Auto Mauser), or are only used to train special groups (like the Japanese police force and their revolvers two years ago). Shotguns: never liked them. Im as accurate with a PCC as am I with a shotty, shottys are useless for hostage situations, and have far less range. They hold less ammo, kick a lot more, and are no deadlier than any of my 9mms. I only own two - a Keltec KSG and a Remington M870. The 870 for training purposes, as thats what all the LEO units use. I almost never shoot them for fun, though if I hunted or did more three gun matches I would use them more. Just not my thing. So in total my numbers that I often shoot are: 7 Sigs 3 FNs 3 S&Ws 1 Glock 1 Kriss 2 Keltecs 1 Wilson 1 Klashnikov If they werent so bloody expensive no doubt Id have a couple of HKs in there - the SP5 and MR308 at the top of that list. Ill be at the range for the first time since March next week after our range got shut down due to the Military stay-at-home order, so Im itching to just break out everything and spend a few days wasting ammo haha. If anyone wants pics of anything or videos let me know.
  14. If you play at CQB sites (especially in the UK) most know how to chrono a tri-shot. Maybe call or message them or something and just confirm its fine before hand so you dont turn up can not be able to play.
  15. Ah makes more sense. And the short answer is... You dont... I just run mine on 80 PSI (yes, I converted it to a drum and HPA. Got tired of shells) with a tracer. I can slam fire the thing fast enough and people usually call it haha.
  16. Wait... They make it in tan?!? Well that sucks...
  17. Let me check. I had a Daytona M249, but I cant remember what the base brand was. Sold it to a friend; ill see if he can figure it out. In the meantime, any specific questions you have?
  18. The pistol appears to be a CYMA CM123. AEP 1911 and all that. Uses CYMA CM030/G18C AEP mags. The AK is more difficult, as we have no idea what you've modified/added in terms of externals. That being said, it looks like it could be the CM076E, but the mags are different, it has a different stock, and different flash hider. However that is most likely it.
  19. Yea its basically precut square foam sticks. You just pluck out the ones you want and it shapes decently. Look at my posts on the previous page about my HK417A2/G28 project - thats a pluck foam case.
  20. The old girl got a face-lift In all honesty I've been wanting to do a KWA Vector build for forever. I've lurked on the FB page for some time now, and had an idea of what I wanted to do, but I knew one thing was needed for sure before I invested time and money into the project - an HPA drum. Ive tried the GBB primary route and despised it for a single reason - the mags. Thats why Ive converted so many of my GBBs to Daytonas - WE Masada, VFC M27, etc. Especially here in the States, where its all about highcaps and volume of fire (I do miss UK airsoft; running around The Mall with my TM GBB MP7 or dual pistols...). While I dont need 1000 shots to get a hit, 40ish shots was a bit too little, especially when you go to reload and find your mag has leaked all the gas out. So a drum is a must. As such, my Vector has sat, and sat. Then, I got an offer. It was a bit steep IMO but I took it, and then I was the proud owner of a broken Reaper Airsoft Customs drum mag for the Vector. Let the build begin! The repair ended up being easy - a lot of epoxy and drying time and it was good to go. I didnt want to use a cheap China clone for a sight like I have on some of my builds - Ive had Daytonas throw off their zeros before. So I used a spare Vortex Sparq AR red dot I had. Magpul MOE irons and AFG2 mod to match my real Vector, Ace1Arms right hand mag release (so much easier when using the drum), replica Surefire M600DF light and my signature blue-lasered PEQ hooked up to a dual pressure switch. I also had to add a 45* rail for the torch so that I could still fold the stock. I have a Defiance .45 ACP suppressor but I am unsure if I will use it due to not needing an increased inner barrel due to FPS gains... Cover the remaining rails with ladder covers and add a sling swivel stock pin and the build is (externally) done. Still need to decide on what to do inside though... Yes @rocketdogbert I will use the FB page for that.
  21. I personally hate cutting foam cases; having moved entirely to pluck foam myself. But you can't deny that when done properly, it looks so much better haha.
  22. I wonder if a genuine Kriss brace/tube setup would fit... Might have to test that out next month...
  23. See, I kinda want to do this, as my RS vector has a brace. Just to make the two even more similar...
