Things I wish I had known when I started....
Happy replied to Raggedy_man's topic in General Discussion
Things I wish I had known before I started or when I was new: 1. "There's a good reason why some guns are priced at £50 and others are priced over £100." Yeah that Double Eagle G36C didn't buy itself... luckily I also brought a Double Eagle M56B shotgun at the same time. 2. "Just because someone is geared up to the eyes in special forces kit doesn't mean they're actually any good." First game surrounded by blokes in real steel kit - was more than a little intimidated till I realised I was having more fun than they were. 3. "Gloves." Self explanitary really. 4. "Why didn't I find this hobby earlier?!!!" And finally... 5. "Rent guns first and THEN buy them once you have a UKARA number." -
RAP4 Fingerless Armoured Paintball Gloves Cost me £4 and I've had them close to two years with some wear but still protect my hands as well as the day I bought them.

I can't see why either mate! Add some glitter to that gun and your loadout would be faaaaabulous!
-
A what? Edit: Never mind. Ironically I googled it.

Honestly? Several attempts that failed, a lot of swearing and one final almost perfect one. Like I said, personal preference.
-
Personally I wouldn't buy barrel spacers - they're easy to make with stuff from around the house. One of mine is made from a coke bottle lid for example. Takes a bit of work but saves you money.
-
Try NCS scopes? I've had a fair few and they're pretty good for the price - they hold their zero pretty well and come in a variety of magnifications: http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=275_551_556&products_id=7293 http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=275_551_556&products_id=2476

Still over priced mate, especially for a second hand gun. Without a list of the upgrades/parts you've put in then most people won't bother giving it a chance as they'd be taking the fact that you've "upgraded" it at face value. Plus there's a dedicated for sale section on the forum for selling guns, try advertising there instead of on this thread. Back on topic: Personally I'd go for the TM P90 out of those listed. Being a TM it's bound to be reliable and easily upgradable as most upgrades are for TM or TM cloned guns. If you can then go for the high cycle like Kurtz suggested - they're brilliant little guns for both CQB and woodland. The trigger response even on a regular NiMh battery is very quick. Just try and get mid cap mags over high caps - you'll be changing mags more often but I found them to feed a lot better with my old high cycle.

King Arms 50 round Dragunov magazine £19.99 Bolle clear lens safety glasses £9.99 Finally found a UK supplier for these mags that (hopefully) have them in stock. Safety glasses I purchased as I always like having a spare pair to loan or to use if my main mesh goggles fail me/get too uncomfortable. All purchase from wolf armouries. Due to an event I'm going to I'm going to force myself not to buy anything else airsoft related till the next pay day.

Only people with taste haha

Like I said to proffrink - on the list for when I next get paid if I can find a reasonably priced one
-
what does your other half think of your airsofting??

I used to get the whole "why do you spend so much on a little part?" line quite often off my ex, but she used to mountain bike so I'd quote it straight back at her She also hated that I knew most of the UPS drivers by name since we got deliveries so often haha -
Personally I'd just keep it for themed WW2 games. Mostly because people sometimes don't have as open a mindset about it as others and strong opinions will be made about your loadout.
-
Good choice, ICS guns are pretty solid starter guns
-
Yeah I just have to find one for the right price. The scope on it at the minute is practical enough for the time being till I next get paid.
-
My newest addition to the armoury. Paints a bit battered but shoots well enough down the garden. She just needs a suitable name now!

Standard 45 degree set up doesn't cope as well with the higher pressure a stronger spring will put on it. It will wear down a lot quicker over time than an upgraded 90 degree set up. Obviously with a new trigger set up you need a piston to match since the stock one won't. For parts I always use Airsoft Sniper Parts UK: http://www.airsoftsniperparts.com Top end range I wouldn't be able to say. But with a higher fps and decent heavy BBs you will definitely notice a difference from a stock model. Edit: There's also a number of DIY mods you can do like adding barrel spacers, teflon mods and something as simple as regular cleaning/maintenance.

My bad I'm using the phone version which doesn't show the loadouts/guns/etc. bits. To be very honest the vsr is a very simple takedown. It'd save you a lot of money to buy and fit the parts yourself. Here's a guide on how to do so: http://www.airsoftsniperforum.com/41-vsr-rifles/3165-worstinfinland-s-vsr-10-total-take-apart-guide.html Cost wise it depends on what you want to upgrade first. Main things I would change are the trigger set up/piston, spring and spring guide. In total you're looking around the £100 mark depending on where you buy the parts from. With a clone rifle you'll spend more to replac other parts like hop unit and inner barrel depending on their quality.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum! The only site I know of around that area is Blue Streak Airsoft: http://www.bluestreak-airsoft.co.uk It's a pretty big site with a fair few buildings scattered around. Additionally BadgerTac have a shop there so you might be able to have a look at a few weapons before you get a parent to buy it.
-
Nice one mate. How does it shoot? I'm tempted to get one to finish off my czech loadouts but I can't justify the price since Ares made it and they have a bit of hit or miss record with their guns.
-
I hate to ask, but is this your first Airsoft rifle? If so I really wouldn't recommend a sniper rifle as your first gun. Personally I'd try and pick up a second hand TM VSR G-spec or a clone rifle like the Well MB-02 and then spend what's left of it on upgrades. It's shorter than the regular VSR so a lot more maneuverable yet retaining near enough the same accuracy. You're not going to get a decent 500 fps sniper rifle out of the box. They will all need some upgrading to be any good. A TM VSR G-spec (and regular VSR models) may have a low out of the box fps but it is a brilliant gun despite this. The hop up in it is amazing for a stock unit and it comes with a precision inner barrel as standard. From there it's just a matter of upgrading the cylinder/piston and trigger set up to cope with a higher strength spring.

Haha I can just imagine rolling up to a CQB site with it

King Arms SVD (Spring version) £90 including postage. I should really stop buying stuff :/
