If you're looking for experiences, then it might be a good shout to check out the Recommend a Tech threads

Otherwise, I would say it depends on your gun, what you want from it, your budget and how long you wanna wait
The more experienced/popular techs will no doubt have the longest waiting times and higher cost per hour charge.

If it's for your ICS then Fire-support are the UK ICS specialists and tend to have all the little obscure parts for them
    - their site says "Labour fee is calculated on a job to job basis, but a service is approximately 30-40."
I used them briefly when I bought my ICS Mp5 on release and had a motor issue. They were pretty quick, with fast/friendly comms and sorted the issue - no problems

People will have their go-to techs for things like HPA, GBBR, Tokyo Marui as those particular places will have a name for doing (hopefully) great work with them

You should look to get anything minor like general shimming, changing a hop, changing/upgrading a piston done whilst booked for a service to get better value for your money/time
Shimming and the mere installation of parts like that are generally included in that pricing, just not the actual cost of the parts supplied by the tech, (as you'd expect)

Most techs will allow you to provide parts yourself, but will not offer any guarentee on any parts they did not advise/supply

So Service+Parts+Return Postage is usually the general "quote".

-IF- they offer a flat charge for a Service, then average is usually between £30-50 - depending on what they deem is part of that service.
some have different versions with different prices like "basic service" or "full service"

If they don't offer a flat charge for a "Service", then yeah it's whatever their hourly rate is and how long it takes them

When I didn't know what I was doing, tech wise (I still don't know what I'm doing for everything else), I went to TheCageAirsoft for them to work on my MP5. To install a bunch of parts, including wiring a MOSFET, they charged me £80 labour. This was Jan 2023 so not sure if their prices have changed since. The lads there are great and have always tried to help me out if I had any questions about random stuff. Can't recommend them enough.

We had quite an intensive run of them, alongside the spammers, but seems to have been quieter recently, but everyone needs to remain on their guard & if you see, suspect, or God forbid, get turned over yourself then holler, we can only call ourselves a community if we work together.

Not disputing the fact that have done and continue to offer high-end upgrade packages but the first question I always ask is 'what's your budget' followed by 'what are you looking to achieve'.

From there, I can tailor each build to the customer's specific requirements.

Side note, I have never built anything with solely Prommy internals
I always select each component based on its own merit with respect to the budget and performance targets.
I continually optimise the parts I use and offer based on their performance, price point and availability.

@Alex34 Turnaround is currently around 10 days if I have all the parts required in stock
That's been my biggest focus over the last decade closely followed by improving communication.

I do have 7.4's but my CRB has had a fair bit of work done to it to support 11.1s. Gearbox was upgraded, piston has metal teeth is memory serves me right with a gate titan v2 as well.

If the 11.1's do cause a damage, it's just an excuse to get more work done to it.

I'm a bit cynical when it comes to 11.1 lipos, if you have any concerns about the viability of any of the aegs, you might want to invest in a 7.4 or two, definitely doesn’t put as much strain or pressure on your gearbox as an 11.1
    Worth considering  🤔

Welcome back to the madhouse. I can't really help recommending a tech, but if the aegs have only been sat for a year or two it might be worth just plugging in a new battery to see if they're ok. No point wasting money on repairs if they aren't necessary.

Right. My 4 year old nephew could have painted it better than this abomination.

    "Paint can be removed easily."

Of course. So easily that you didn't do it yourself to give yourself a chance of increasing the resale value of the gun. Gotcha.

I wouldn't use anyone except those two, which is why they have such long waiting lists, which is why I wouldn't use them.  It's a self-causing / self-solving problem.

If it's for a specific gun it might be best to mention it, as any Sklyar can mess up an M4, but some techs specialise in messing up GBBR or HPA builds.

scared to post my gun for sale now though… but I’ll be checking back on here just in case there’s any ‘friendly’ advice 😉

"Look at me, guys! I bought an airsoft gun to use at a field but I didn't realise I would have to actually pay money to play at a site, nor did I factor in travel when I don't even have a car. I didn't have the patience to wait for a UKARA defence so I flouted the law and did a piss-poor job of removing the blue paint. £100 reflects the regret I have in not researching, planning and asking around before investing so much into something that didn't work out. I think that price is reasonable even though you can buy the same RIF brand new without my 'custom' paint removal for the same price"

I've sold loads of genuinely unskirmished guns. Even amongst the RIF's I have left:

G&G MBR556 DMR - Not skirmished since Negative Airsoft last worked on it.
CYMA Platinum Daniel Defence - Skirmished one morning session since Negative Airsoft upgraded.
WE Beretta M9 - Not skirmished
Tanaka Colt Python - Not skirmished
AAP with upgrades - Not skirmished

....actually yeah, maybe I do just need to play more 😄
