Thats a real shame.

£350 is a little over my budget. I could have bought an actual WW2 scope and mount for that!

I now have a scope mount on my SMLE. Anyone got any suggestions for a decent scope? -It needs to be mountable as low as possible, so probably no more than 32mm objective. -Ideally not too fancy. No rubberised finishes and ideally straight lines not curves. -Low magnification, I'm considering a 4x32 or if I could get something zoomable from 1-5-ish that would be even better. Don't strip it for parts. Worst case, you can get parts from an ASG or HFC clone to fix it. If it works fine without the mag, could it be a problem with the mag?

Basically 95% of airsofters seem to do some variation of M4, tactical vest and modern camo or black. It's fun to do something other than this. I like doing WW2 stuff because the guns are cooler (no plastic). A firefly loadout would be fun, there are a few western guns that could be modified and then just add the brown coat. BB proof stormtrooper armour would be awesome.

A bolt action rifle shooting below 350fps is fun, no minimum engagement distance and you have to make shots count. It also scares the crap outta everyone (your own team included) when you fix bayonet and charge. I don't have a pic yet of my Aussie jungle gear but this is roughly what I had last weekend: Only difference is my bayonet is rubber and I didn't have the mug or rain cape. Its actually a very practical loadout for a hot sunny day in woodland

It should be fine. Evike seem to have done this a few times, otherwise they wouldn't have the facility for 2 toning guns.

I don't think flamers should be a concern on this forum. Someone may have insight on the gun and problems with it that you might not be aware of. It's also possible that someone may know where to get one in the UK. I presume you're thinking of buying from evike. I recently bought a gun from them and it arrived well packaged and no real problems. Bear in mind you will be paying tax and a customs handling fee on top of the price of the gun and delivery costs. I paid £200 for my Lee enfield including delivery and an additional £45 tax and handling fee. I only bought from the US because Evike were literally the only place selling the gun I wanted. A gun would need to be really special for it to be worth the hassle, if a gun is that special you probably should wait and not have it in 2 tone.

The way they worded the VCRA is so that it is illegal to import, manufacture or sell RIF's. They then provide a number of ways to defend yourself from prosecution. The reason they have done it this way is to circumvent the whole innocent until proven guilty principle. So now when you get a gun from Taiwangun.com, you are actually breaking the law and have to prove you have a valid defence (from prosecution), rather than the normal way the law works, where the authorities would have to prove you are breaking the law before they can do anything. I wouldn't worry about it too much, it's just a clever legal trick to save taxpayers money by not having to prove that a gun is not intended for use in airsoft. This is why UKARA is a defence (from prosecution) and not a Licence. If you had a licence for airsoft, the government would have to prove that you are not an airsofter to deny you it. This would be a bureaucratic nightmare that the taxpayer would have to fund.

For an MP7, you should be able to use MP5 pouches. Maybe consider drop leg pouches. That way, when you carry another weapon with pouches on a vest, you will not get confused about where each ones mags are.

I gave up driving a few years ago. never regretted it until I started airsoft. Airsoft games always start before trains start running on a Sunday. WW2 games are not too bad as they're usually on a Saturday with camping the night before. Bit of a pain getting there by train carrying all the airsoft gear and camping gear, but I have it all sorted now. Last Sunday I left home at 6am with a backpack containing my sten, a pistol, gas, ammo, batteries etc, plus a canvas valise with my Lee Enfield. I was wearing my Aussie jungle gear and P37 webbing. I crossed Bristol, went down the Avon Gorge to Pill, then along cycle paths to Portishead. Bristol to Portishead without hills took a bit of local knowledge, but theres no way to avoid the fact that Black ops Portishead is at the top of a massive hill. I arrived knackered. It's only about 15 miles but the weight of a Sten and Lee enfield made it a tough trip. Fortunately on the way home, I was able to go over the Avon bridge and catch a train from Shirehampton. Next time you moan about how knackered you are after a day's skirmish, imagine having to cycle home afterwards

Sun Optics scope mount Doesn't look very exciting, but this is a scope mount for a Lee Enfield No.1 MkIII. No airsoft equivalent exists so I had to go real steel so £40 isn't bad. Matilda is going to become a sniper

It will save you a whole lot of potential hassle to wait until you can have a UKARA number on the package. If customs check the contents they will need proof that you have a defence, otherwise they may destroy the gun. They will not fall for the trick of sending it in parts. Be patient or ask at your local site, whether they could take delivery and have the gun available for you to use until they are happy you have a defence.

Neither will suit. If you are playing Sims 3, then clearly you need a pink computer

I do all WW2 stuff now. I spent ages working out how to wear a shemagh with it to create an Aladdin like turban. We had a load of us planning to do a milsim together and so we thought a Fez might make quite a good uniform. The milsim got moved to a different location and then got postponed, I bought a sten and now my silly hat is an Aussie Slouch hat

For me, berets with a historic impression are fine. Berets with modern gear though are just pretending to be something you're not. I have a maroon beret, it has the WW2 version of the Royal Engineers badge and is for use with a WW2 British Para loadout. It's my way of helping people realise that a significant number of the men who fought at the bridge at Arnhem and in other locations were not Parachute Regiment. The Para's get all the glory but there's no point dropping behind enemy lines to capture a bridge without having the guys who can prevent it being blown up. I wore a fully badged up hat on Sunday. Australian commonwealth forces badge and 2/31st battalion colour patch on an Aussie slouch hat. No-one complained, but I guess no-one had a clue what the badges were 2/31st Battalion is unusual in that it's an Aussie unit that was formed in Wiltshire. After Dunkirk, men were wanted for the possible defence of Britain and Australia had some men aboard a ship that was meant to be going to Palestine. They were all support troops for other units but got diverted to Britain and were formed into 3 rifle battalions and were trained on Salisbury plain. Incidentally, I still have my DDPM fez. It never got used as the milsim didn't happen

As it's summer and the sun is out for a change, I thought I would see how everyone deals with the heat. I personally put together a loadout specifically for these conditions and tried it out today: Boots: Tan coloured work boots-these are comfy low leg boots and work well with thin socks Gaiters: US M38 lace up gaiters to cope with vegetation Trousers: US herringbone Twill (HBT) trousers- tough but very lightweight and baggy for better ventilation, oh and 2 MASSIVE pockets. Shirt: British general service shirt- cheaper than the correct shirt for this loadout and also seems to have very good wicking properties. Hat: Aussie slouch hat- keeps the sun off. Webbing: P37 webbing with water bottle carrier (adapted Aussie fashion to attach directly to the belt). The P37 water bottle has quite a large capacity. This is my Aussie Jungle loadout. The idea was to make a WW2 loadout using as much stuff I already had (hat webbing etc) but suitable for woodland skirmishes on hot days. It really works! I still got hot running about, but I cooled off afterwards really fast. Other players were suffering. Usually I am one of those people that cannot cope with heat. I was worried the big hat would give away my position, it seemed not to. I guess its not a shape people are used to looking for.

No-one really cares what gun you use as long as its correct period. It's accepted that guns are expensive so if you play British and German and use a sten for both thats fine. In fact Germans had a copy of the Sten that was issued to their equivalent of the home guard and the Sten was copied off a German sub machine gun anyway. Just don't turn up to a WW2 game with a Systema If all you have is a 2 tone M4, just wrap hessian around it and take off any red dots, lasers etc. It's accepted that it takes time to get everything together for WW2 airsoft and generally it's preferred that people go to the games rather than sit at home until they have all the gear.

Read enough stuff on these forums and you will soon see that lots of people spend a fortune upgrading their guns and end up worse than they started. Get a spare gun before you even think of tampering with the internals.
