  1. With S95 gear, there is no such thing as 'New'. It's not used anymore. There is only Grade 1 or Grade 2. Grade 1 is stuff in perfect condition, Grade 2 is stuff with some wear and tear. More often than not, Grade 1 stuff from britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk arrives still in it's original packaging. The reason it's cheaper is that other army surplus stores would be buying from these guys.
  2. http://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk/shop/special-offers.html Could have got the shirt, smock and trousers for £25. Well worth bookmarking that site.
  3. Finally tested Matilda (gas powered SMLE). Coke can test: Goes cleanly through both sides, makes a hole in center of base but doesn't fully penetrate. I guess that makes it about 400-425 fps ish?

I will get her chrono'd when I go to a game. I don't own a chrono and needed to have a rough idea of power so it's the best I could do.

It's not a good method Russel, I tried this with my old m16 and sold it because I thought it made it 400 and I didnt want to downgrade it etc as money was tight and I wasn't confident enough to open up a £300 gun myself. I sold it and it was well under 350fps and able to be used at sites it turned out

  4. What about Ground Zero? http://www.groundzerowoodland.com/Ground_Zero_Woodland/Calendar.htm Or Bluestreak? http://www.bluestreak-airsoft.co.uk/ <--works now
  5. well M_P can't make it anyway so I suggest we do something on 27th and then plan something for end of August at Iron site? Somewhere woodland ideally so I can test Matilda
  6. http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/21995-july-27th-southern-meet-up/#entry154851 We're trying to set up a Southern area meet up. Join the thread and maybe we will get enough people interested to actually get something organised
  7. I have used EMS for £100 of Aussie uniform no problem. I have also had a gun come from the US costing £200 with USPS. Both ended up delivered by Parcel force. I actually like parcel force, they always deliver at 8:30-8:40 am without fail, I guess I'm at the start of someones route The £200 gun cost me £45 in customs charges including the £8 handling fee. You get a slip through the mail telling you how much you need to pay and can do it over the internet and specify when you want delivery, you can have your stuff the next day.
  8. Do not use oil on the barrel, if it gets on the hop rubber it will reduce effectiveness. Silicon oil is good for seals on gas guns, grease is for gearboxes, silicon grease would be for pistons. For barrel cleaning just use a small bit of rag. You can use alcahol and dry it with fresh clean rag if you need to.
  9. How are you getting shot in the back? Stop running away you coward rather than padded clothing, just wear baggy clothing, something like a big girls blouse should do the job Seriously though, consider a leather jacket. That way you can pretend you're wearing it to look cool. Denim will also work to a certain extent. You just want heavy fabric to take the energy out of the hits. You never see WW2 airsofters moaning about welts, this is due to the fact we wear Denim, heavy wool etc. We moan about how frickin hot we get.
  10. Whats wrong with a £10 sling? I have never paid over £10 for a sling. A sling has one job, to hold the rifle when you're not using it. If you need to use the rifle, it should already be in your hands. For £5 you can get a ww2 dated surplus sling for a sten gun and for £10 you can get a Lee Enfield sling. the problem comes when you are trying to look tacticool. If I can carry my all steel Sten gun or my Wood and Steel Lee Enfield in my hands for the majority of the day then you pansies can manage your M4's with their plastic and lightweight alloys. Jeez kids these days....
  11. An alternative that may work is to reduce the power of the spring on the hammer. This will simultaneously reduce how hard it hits the gas release valve (so less gas comes out per shot and therefore lower fps) and will reduce the force needed for the blowback. How easy this is to achieve on your gun I have no idea.
  12. My Sten is 335 fps, my pistol is 335 fps and my SMLE is not chrono'd yet but will be over 330 How about Swindon? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Swinsoft-the-Trail/1436901399880667?sk=timeline Fairly new site run by Swindon Airsoft. Or we could try the site I would have been doing a WW2 game at http://www.bluestreak-airsoft.co.uk/index.php Ooh found a Saturday one http://www.xsiteairsoft.co.uk/?q=node/7 Maybe M_P can make that?
  13. To get a weekend off can be a pain for me but due to a cancelled WW2 game, I have 25th-31st July off work and nothing to do.
  14. well the response so far is rather underwhelming. I guess we should just pick a site to skirmish at that will be open that day?
  15. The main difference is that the HFC and ASG versions use an inner barrel on the silencer to bring the accuracy and power up to the standard of the TM, The TM uses the silencer as a silencer making it much quieter. The ASG Mk23 is a very good gun, the TM one is awesome.
  16. I have 2 Helmets. A steel tankers helmet, which I plan one day to fully convert to an airborne helmet. It's heavy and the 2 point chin strap makes it feel rather unstable. It will be great once it has the 4 point leather chin strap. I also have a cheap Resin Brodie helmet For £8 it's a surprisingly good match for the real thing and is much lighter. It lacks a liner so I tied netting over it with the 4 corners tied to create a cushion for my head. It works great. I'm more of a hat person really. Boonies are great but on a hot sunny day, you can't beat a slouch hat
  17. Got myself a small melee weapon: Rubber P1907 Bayonet If I have to bring a knife to a gun fight, I may as well make it a frickin big scarey one that attaches to my SMLE to become truly terrifying. Also bought a brass 303 oil bottle. Matilda has the correct hole in the stock to store one so I figured it was the sensible way to store some silicon oil.
  18. Knee pads are always uncomfortable. If you can get trousers with them built in, that will be much more comfortable
  19. Why not? As long as you don't choose Americans. At every game I have been to there has been a secret plan to try and sacrifice the Americans to achieve a British Victory.
  20. Grr no game there on 27th. ...unless we can persuade him? Who would be interested 1st of all? No point pestering him for 2-3 people to turn up.
  21. Trust me, there are a lot of MK23's used at Bristol Airsoft, they are very annoying 'cos you never know where you got shot from. I have the cheap HFC version myself, it's good but the TM one is quieter. If you want a sidearm as a cool toy get a blowback pistol, but if you want to get kills with a pistol, the MK23 is the way to go. The downside is that it's rather big.
  22. Just had my 1st proper accident since starting cycling. Car pulled out of a junction and hit me in the side. I have a tiny graze on my wrist but my handlebars are toast.

Yeah he's going to pay for the repairs. Annoying thing is my lovely striped swede effect bar tape is discontinued :( I had a great effect of black with a red spiral down my handlebars.

  23. US HBT trousers and M38 gaiters arrived to go with a green shirt for the Aussie jungle impression (aka the 'it's rather hot and sunny out, lets wear lightweight clothing and a sun hat' loadout). I have the SMLE. Matilda, as she is called, is by far the sexiest gun ever seen. She can be field stripped like the original, the only difference in the bolt is the gas inlet and the striker for the gas release on the bottom. Only thing needed to complete both Aussie loadouts is the P1907 Bayonet. I would however like to do a couple of belt mounted water bottle carriers for the jungle loadout. I may revisit the airborne loadout sometime and complete the helmet conversion and get a better Denison. Not sure I can be arsed atm though.
  24. Hmm, maybe SS might not have been the best idea then, but surely you could have gotten away with converting everything to a Heer impression? Or switch to Allies?
  25. 1. TM MK23 Socom -best gun for silent kills ever. 2. Any other TM pistol 3. Goblin Deuce 'cos sawn off shotgun! http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-shotguns-and-grenade-launchers/deuce-airsoft-double-barrel-launchermhtm#.U7xbC5RdUcY
