  1. I started a separate thread for a meet up 27th July somewhere in the south.
  2. Lets have a meet up July 27th. Open to Suggestions of which site, somewhere cool and fairly central between London and the South West. Maybe the Mall, Combat South or ground Zero?
  3. I have a patch but for some reason all my WW2 gear lacks any velcro to attach it to TBH I think my WW2 Aussie loadouts will be easy enough to spot, I mean how many airsofters have an SMLE and a wide brimmed hat
  4. Lets start small. Lets suggest a number of meet ups at regular walk ons and see how many turn up? Then we can get an idea of level of interest. How about July 27th somewhere in the South? I have a week off and it's not a Spartan week
  5. So why not get a Kar98 or MP40 airsoft gun and move into WW2 airsoft? A few more targets for me to shoot at are always welcome
  6. for an M4 stick to G&G combat machines as starter guns.
  7. Spartan is good but I have a feeling they only operate every other weekend to avoid planning permission problems so we would only be able to meet up there for a scheduled walk on day. I believe if you use a site more than a certain number of days a year it requires planning permission for change of use, I could be wrong.
  8. Transport becomes a lot more expensive and annoying if you have to go through London. I would suggest we either stay West or North of London. Combat South Maybe? I know they are used to having people camp there. We may then be able to do Combat south Urban on one day and Combat south Woodland the next or vice versa?
  9. Argh, No gas!!!!! All ready to test Matilda out and I have no gas.

no gas or not prepared, eating beans, that is no way to impress your new lady friend.

Unless she is a dirty chavvy cow then she won't mind

  10. As long as it's in the zone between Mossies in the south and Midges up north Try and get it done during summer hols before weather makes camping hell.
  11. WW2 games are always based on hiring a site for a Saturday or weekend and camping at the site. You just have to find the right site. Camping anywhere other than an airsoft site is a bad idea as it would have legal issues regarding messing about with guns. Logically people in Scotland would only have to travel to N. England and meet up with the Northerners to get a lift from there. A site with buildings would be ideal as those without tents would only need a sleeping bag and mat.
  12. Matilda my SMLE has arrived! The red stain on the wood is actually really nice in person and it looks like the internals are not smothered in grease as early ones were so tomorrow I shall try gassing her up and putting some rounds through her :)

The bolt is so easy to use. If I can get sniper fps and get the mad minute drill down....

I can't see how I would mount a scope without a £200 actual SMLE scope mount.

Nice, I think they are lovely rifles but it really needs a loadout like you have to look right IMO.

  13. £45 customs cost, plus optional £12 for Saturday delivery. SMLE arrives tomorrow :)

Wow, that's pretty good, cheaper than you thought isn't it? :D

Jolly good show old Chap! You going to scope it up like the No. 4 Mk. I (T)?

I will have to see if I can fit a scope. If I scope it it will be scoped like a No.1 mk3. Not sure how possible this would be without getting hold of an actual sight mount for an SMLE.

A scope would only be for normal skirmishes, for WW2 games it would be ironsights mainly.

I budgeted £50-60 so £45 was pretty good.

Now while I do all the work on it, I can sort out a P1907 Bayonet :)

  14. US HBT (herring bone twill) trousers and M43 Gaiters This is for my Aussie Jungle loadout. The Aussies were in the habit of acquiring whatever gear suited the job best, so in the Pacific where they were fighting closely with American units, they decided that the Americans had better leg protection. This will go with a green shirt, P37 webbing and my Aussie slouch hat to create a late war Aussie jungle warfare impression. I will be able to use either my Sten or SMLE with this
  15. MP5 stuff is all fairly universal. The cheap ones will have thin glass lenses so you will want to replace that with polycarbonate or something.
  16. 5 days after leaving the sorting office in LA, I got another update on the tracking for my SMLE. It's in the UK, awaiting customs clearance, Yay! I have decided it will be called Matilda, to go with my Aussie loadout :D

not really. There are a lot of problems with them, so I will have to strip it down and rebuild it before I can use it. It is cheaper though.

  17. Pretty sure those would not be legal unless you managed to make a rubber one.
  18. Bear in mind that if you haven't been to a skirmish you will have 2 months to decide while you sort out UKARA registration
  19. http://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/airsoft-weapons-c38/electric-rifles-c45/ics-m4-a1-retractable-stock-desert-digital-p1985 Quite a good deal if you really want desert camo. Otherwise a G&G combat machine is the way to go.
  20. Britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk and Ex MOD are the same company. It always amazes me that sometimes one is cheaper than the other, even though you can swap between them at the bottom of the page. Another cheap option I considered is the old school kit bag for £6: http://www.ex-mod-textiles.com/shop/hardware/kit-bag-1080547.html In the end I decided to just stick to P37 packs and wear the webbing as it's more practical. I recieved a goretex bivvi bag from britishmilitarysurplus,co,uk today, which will allow me to ditch the tent and combine sleeping bag, foam mat and bivvi bag in one roll, attached to the webbing.
  21. I have one of those, great little bag. Only flaw is that the webbing used for straps doesn't have enough friction against the buckles so they will come loose or detach from the bag occasionally.
  22. http://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk/shop/hardwear/deployment-bag-grade-1-1124036.html slightly cheaper here I can get away with wearing military gear on the train. My military gear doesn't scream army/airsoft/military/etc. it screams re-enactor. I did once get stopped by a member of station staff, he asked if I knew when the War and Peace show was When my Lee Enfield arrives it's going to be harder to hide that I am carrying a gun shaped object. I intend to carry it in a Pattern 1907 Lee Enfield Valise bag I have bought from Soldier of Fortune. My thinking is that by being period correct, it is easier to show that I have a reason to be carrying it. People get scared by army wannabe's, they don't get scared by re-enactors and although there is a chance I may get stopped by the police one day, I don't expect it to be too traumatic an experience. As I travel by train in this way, I have no plans to be on the German side at any WW2 games, that might not go down as well with the general public
  23. Pattern 37 webbing. The Large pack with just fit a Sten with the stock removed. It's easier to wear webbing than to carry it
  24. Olive green Goretex Bivvi bag. this is part of a plan to simplify travelling to WW2 games. As I don't have a car, I have to take camping gear airsoft gear and WW2 gear (which ends up meaning a big heavy rucksack), on the train. The plan is to put together a Swag roll (sleeping mat and sleeping bag inside a bivvi bag rolled up together) and attach it via blanket straps to the P37 webbing. I can then travel in full ww2 marching order webbing and save lots of time setting up camp when I arrive into the bargain. £30 from Britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk Also added a green general service shirt (£5) as a step towards a jungle green loadout.
  25. 633 squadron is one of the best M*A*S*H, not one you think of straight away but reminds me of a great TV series and film.
