Why did you start airsoft? I bought my first guns before the VCRA was even a thing so "airsoft" was just running round the house shooting my mates (I still have the scar on my arm from being shot with my mates Maruzen Uzi in the garden). Friend of mine went skirmishing and after nagging me for YEARS I finally said yes when he suggested I come to this place in Reading where you could run around an old shopping centre shooting people. What do you like about airsoft Guns. Guns are cool. I've made some good friends through airsoft too so there's that. Which is nice. Plus I (usually) get out once a month or so to shoot some motherflippers in the face, which is awfully cathartic. What don't you like about airsoft (not including KM or non hit taking, something more substantial please) The people that don't want to play by the rules. Be that finding ways to circumvent the VCRA restrictions or just being an utter dick on game days, there's no need for it. The inability of so many people to understand the very basic physics involved in airsoft guns and just how far they actually shoot. Plus, it's not always the guns fault or non-hit taking, sometimes you're just not actually very good. Elitism, at both ends of the spectrum. Crye doesn't make you better, but it also doesn't make you a wanker. Some people just have more money to spend on stuff. Deal with it. Do you think airsoft has any health benefits I.e keeping you fit etc Mentally - the aforementioned shooting of motherflippers certainly helps keep me vaguely sane. I have a high stress job so I need an outlet. Physically - when I was going regularly, yes I would say I was getting gradually a bit fitter but I was also actually trying to lose weight and shit so I'm not sure that one is directly related to the other. I wouldn't say it's necessarily a great way to get fit but it can certainly motivate you improve your fitness so you can be better/keep up/not cough up a lung after the first game. Hope that helps.

Yep. I have a pair in my kitbag somewhere. You need to use them with the headband to get a good seal (comes with it though).

I absolutely appreciate your point, what I'm trying to say though is that FMA are NOT "good quality" goggles. There's enough Revision/ESS surplus out there that there's no reason to buy cheap Chinese eyepro with no certified safety testing. Bolle Trackers are full seal, EN166 B and cost £15. What more do you want?

Valid point, but full seal frames are pointless if the lens isn't rated properly. Like I say, two factors to all this.

Apples and oranges. There's two issues at play in airsoft eyepro, impact resistance and preventing shots that don't directly hit the lens from getting to your eye. Yes, a full seal goggle does the latter job better, but that doesn't mean they do the main job as well as the properly rated glasses. Now, if you'd said these: Then I would have agreed 100%.

Personally, I wouldn't trust any of the "airsoft" brands for eye pro unless they have been certified. EN166B (not F), ANSI Z87.1 (the low speed impact test is just good enough - 0.2g at 343FPS) is the markings you should be looking for. I'd stick with brands known for producing quality safety eyewear like Bolle, ESS, WileyX etc. NOT Nuprol, FMA et al. As for the suggestion that you only need better rated glasses in CQB? You can still get point blanked by a DMR or a BASR in the woods if you're unlucky, not worth taking the risk.

How long is your old outer barrel? Subtract the length of your new one from that, take the difference off the length of your original inner barrel and bob's your uncle.

IRR coatings are, as you say "reflective". Quick bit of physics - things are a certain colour because they absorb certain wavelengths of light and reflect others. White reflects everything, black absorbs everything, blue just reflects the blue part of the spectrum etc. If you have a material that absorbs IR light then it appears black under IR based night vision (regardless of what colour it appears under visible light). IRR coatings and materials seek to reflect some or all of the IR light so that they don't just appear black. It's particularly noticeable on things like cheap rigs where the plastic buckles and nylon webbing will show up completely black and make it REALLY obvious where you are! The intent of IRR materials for uniforms is to pick dyes that have the right level of IR absorption to create a camouflage effect under night vision rather than an overall "treatment" that would make you show up as a block colour.

Wild stab in the dark you have a dry joint in your soldering. Also - get a better charger (that's not to solve the problem you have just yours is a cheap POS).

I think the only gun I have that weighs around what yours does is an MP5K, everything else is heavier (M4's, a SCAR which weighs about the same as Guildford when it has the EGLM mounted, the M249, M14 EBR...) Not gonna deny they can be heavy old beasts so I usually take a lighter one for later in the day! Bit of adrenaline and you don't notice so much!

Non airsoft but - we just bought some hardware at work that is made by a Swedish company. Our purchase was with the UK office, in GBP and invoiced with UK VAT. The hardware was shipped ex-works from Sweden and now DHL want import duty and VAT. Clusterfuck.

I've seen quite a few similar ones (again mostly non airsoft). It's just not worth the hassle for most of them!

We have a few guys use them at my regular site (Red Alert). As long as they're used properly (indirect fire) they're fine BUT they are 'kin loud. Definitely louder than a MK5! As far as getting hit by one, they're not terribly weighty (hence the impact fused ones don't always go off on soft ground) and in terms of the explosive force...unless you're holding onto one when it goes off then it's going to be akin to getting hit by a flashbang as it goes off. If you're OK with those getting chucked about then I don't really see why you'd have an issue with TAGs. If I could justify the cost then I'd use them no argument! They're a proper force multiplier if you have access to a bunch of them and an MGL!

Just remember that while it may not be their fault, it IS their responsibility. As the purchaser, your contract is with TG, UPS is their chosen carrier and until the package is delivered to the intended recipient it's still TG's problem.

I still have my original Viper "magpul style" sling. I use it to hold our big dog hairdryer now. Bag of shite it is.

I'd be impressed if the IRR treatment on surplus gear is still any good.
