  1. Let's not tar them all with the same brush, it's the ones with the Orion gearbox that sucked donkey balls.
  2. Nice. How are you finding the Cyma MP5 mags?
  3. Anyone else at Red Alert this weekend?

  4. Severely torn between making a Strike Back G3 and a G3SBS. Yours looks nice!
  5. @Bert918 just to clarify, he means the angle at which the motor pinion engages with the bevel gear. AOE is more often used to refer to the angle at which the sector gear meshes with the piston rack.
  6. As a fellow haver of bear paws for hands I feel your pain! AEG grips in general are wide (side to side) but if you want more depth (front to back) you could do a lot worse than a Magpul MIAD style. Visually similar to the other Magpul grips but with alternative backstraps you can use to adjust the grip size. For the GBBR, I'd suggest a proper Ergo Grip https://www.brownells.co.uk/epages/UK.sf/en_GB/?ViewAction=ViewFaceted&ObjectID=1987195&FacetValue_CategoryID=12613&CurrencyID=GBP
  7. 1) Maxx hop units. I have a couple and they're great but if you don't NEED the extra funtions (built in tracer, BB retainer, flat hop/R-Hop nubs and arms) then a cheap ZCI rotary hop unit or even the standard one will be fine. The Cyma hop unit is pretty decent. If you're using the Maple Leaf rubber you need to use the Maple Leaf Omega nub, they're designed to work together. The shaped nubs that come with the Maxx hop unit are machined aluminium and are designed for R-hop/flat-hop and they're too hard for the ML rubbers, they tend to make the shots pretty inconsistent! 2) BLS ammo is decent, I've used some myself and quite liked them. 3) Barrels. Prometheus EG are very good, I have a Lambda barrel but have yet to fit it so can't comment. I do like the ZCi barrels as they're good quality and priced well. The main thing to remember about barrels is that it's more about the quality of the bore (how smooth it is, how accurate it is, how straight it is) than anything else. 3) Cleaning. Yes, standard kitchen towel will work as long as it doesn't fall apart. Cut a strip rather than tearing it so you don't leave loose fibres behind. Better would be a Jeye Cloth https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=jeye+cloths&adgrpid=104274814512&gclid=CjwKCAjwn6GGBhADEiwAruUcKgiUOoYT2ZBItbEu8ffgmtmH3YcYwAdXh6wzYZPXBwzvuwWTTSC8hhoCiIMQAvD_BwE&hvadid=447271061678&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9045742&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=4483414666538663342&hvtargid=kwd-317469785021&hydadcr=28146_1752652&tag=googhydr-21&ref=pd_sl_5j462045qj_e_p49. Alcohol is fine for cleaning, any half decent silicone spray will work for lubing your rubber but make sure you don't overdo it and make sure you don't get it on the inside if you can help it! Don't use WD40 though. As ever, if you're going down the DMR route then this is a must read https://www.reddit.com/r/airsoft/comments/5g58ia/holy_grail_dmr_guide_updated_for_20167/ Good consistency shot to shot is the key.

  9. Wow. £45 cheaper to just buy a new one from the very place he bought that one from. Bargain.
  10. Depends how long reach but Teng do some good ones
  11. I like to make people work for it! Indeed though, 'tis an FFI Tigerstripe G3 set.
  12. Noob "I really want A but I also like B" Forum based expert "I heard that A is a piece of crap don't buy that" Noob *begrudgingly spends money on B because despite being perfectly good it wasn't really what he wanted but someone on the internet said that was shit Person with up to date info "so why didn't you buy the one you really wanted? They've been sorted out now and work absolutely fine" Noob *sad face, carries on using gun he bought all the while quietly battling the internal monologue that everyone on the internet talks shit and why didn't he just get the one he really wanted until the day he finally snaps and beats a badger to death with the gun he never really wanted in the first place. See? Do you hate badgers @Adolf Hamster? WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE BADGERS!!!!!
  13. Oh absolutely, but if someone gets put off a perfectly good purchase because of out of date information then that's just as bad in my book. At the beginner end of the pricing spectrum pretty much anything is likely to have some level of inconsistency, but to be fair so does the high end (I'm looking at you VFC) so it always opens up the possibility that whatever you recommend there will be some people that think the POS you dismissed is the second coming and that the gun you recommend because you have several and they're all fine shouldn't be contemplated even if your life depends on it. None of the sample sizes in airsoft are sufficiently large or unbiased as to be able to make absolute yes/no choices and no given manufacturer is a reliable option right across the range (yes, even Tokyo Marui have some crap guns). Both of the options that the OP asked about are decent enough choices both as they come and as a platform for improvement.
  14. Yes, there were issues with the Specna Arms Orion gearbox. However, unlike a lot of other manufacturers they listened to customer feedback and fixed it. Unfortunately shit sticks and airsofters are a curmudgeonly bunch and it doesn't take much for them to tar every single product a company makes with the same brush. Anyway, they're both good guns, pick whichever fits your budget and you like the look of best.
  15. We ordered some stuff for a customer at work about a month ago, was shipped from Europe and delivered by UPS within 2 weeks.
  16. Anyone had any dealings with Mael Eòin Tactical at all? Placed an order 11 weeks ago but they've gone completely quiet on comms.

@DrAlexanderTobacco totally agree , there’s no excuse for poor or none existent comms , no matter how busy you are You can still take a few minutes at the start of the day to send a generic “sorry for the delay” email just to show the customer they haven’t  been forgotten . I once had a TM EBB with a tech guy for near 15mths while he was trying to find a part but every mth around the date I’d sent it to him I’d get the same update of “still looking” but I was happy with that as it showed I wasn’t forgotten  .

  17. Really quite impressed with it. I have a Vector Optics one as well but the Victoptics being an FFP scope puts it slightly ahead. As you say though, good, clear glass and crisp illumination.
  18. It's literally just the latest version of this:
  19. And the prize for oldest necro post of the day goes to....
  20. from here: https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad?step-by-step-nav=849f71d1-f290-4a8e-9458-add936efefc5 also this: BUT that assumes that the sender has charged you VAT at point of purchase and is registered to reverse charge HMRC. If they haven't then the you will still have to pay the VAT yourself. As far as HMRC is concerned it'll be down to you to either check that they have paid it or to pony up the difference. If you think you've overpaid then you'll need to fill in the appropriate form and throw yourself on the tender mercies of HMRC https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-repayment-or-remission-of-import-duties-c285-chief
  21. No, you're the importer. It's your responsibility to ensure that the tax gets paid either by the seller IF they're registered with HMRC to pay it directly or yourself if they're not. It's the carriers responsibility to collect the tax on the behalf of HMRC but it's still your responsibility to pay it.
