  1. The internet is a wunnerful (and slightly scary) place. The vast majority of people who claim not to be able to find what they're looking for are either 1) looking for something SOOOO obscure that there's just not much info available or 2) don't know how to construct an effective search string. Trust me, it's tricker than it looks sometimes. That said, you can google how to search for stuff (ironic, I know). As far as actual sites I like for info, Wikipedia is a good starting point. As long as the article has plenty of references you can usually follow the subject off in plenty of ways and there's way more info there than people realise. Also IMFDB (International Movie Firearms Database) is pretty handy as it sets out to tell you what guns are used in what shows/films/video games. Not always a complete source but again, a very good starting point. Forums are an odd one. You not only need to find one that isn't tied to a specific retailer or manufacturer (*cough*zero one*cough*) unless you're after specific info for that manufacturer. In addition foreign forums may have plenty of info but the recommended products may not be available where you are so could be of limited use. Once you've found a good forum, stick with it. People are notoriously cliquey online so sometimes you need to put up with a bit of grief before you're "accepted". Youtube reviews are good if you want a lot of badly filmed opinions but there are some good channels out there too. A lot of tactical kit reviews from US users will be in respect of real guns and tactics so be wary of asking directly about airsoft as it can just open up a torrent of abuse. Equally steer WELL clear of making similar comments on blogs like Operator As Fuck as they will verbally eviscerate anyone that mentions the hobby! That said if you comment with respect and bear in mind that most of the OAF guys are actual serving or ex SF or PMCs there's plenty of very useful pictures of loadouts in action!
  2. Indeed - or an ICS Sportline. More to the point you can get a better gun for the budget if you stick with the more common styles.
  3. The problem you're going to have is that guns like the SCAR are not as popular as M4s, AKs or G36s. As a result, the good ones tend to be pricier (the G&G SCAR-L for example is about £300). While I appreciate that you maybe want a gun that's a bit different from the crowd or because you have a particular weapon you enjoy from a game, as far as your first gun goes I would strongly suggest sticking with one of the three styles I mentioned. Mostly because you'll get a better gun for the money from a more reputable brand. For the money you're talking about you could get a very decent CYMA AK or a G&G Combat Machine.
  4. Without wishing to sound like I'm taking the piss, you wrap it around the stock, the little loop with velcro goes through your sling point and the other loop is where you attach the rest of the sling. Maybe if you post some pictures we can see where you're going wrong? Personally I'd say that if you have that rear sling swivel at the bottom of your stock, just use that and ditch the buttstock strap. It's mostly for guns without a rear sling point.
  5. But that has a sling swivel in the end of the stock doesn't it? Anyway - this is a 416 but the principle is the same:
  6. Try Hammerite for the silver. Should be able to get it from halfords or homebase.
  7. If you're doing it for camouflage, krylon is your friend.
  8. Why specifically rustoleum? Hammerite is basically the same.
  9. Cool, thanks for that, I'll give it a try when the new piston etc is in.
  10. Something that has been making me wonder - the Dytac receiver seems to be a bit tight fitting onto the TM gearbox. There is always a slight gap at the back where the upper meets the lower - is it likely that this is causing enough of a misalignment between the nozzle and the hop rubber to cause the BBs to get jammed? The original TM (plastic) receiver used the rear pin to lock down the upper, whereas the Dytac merely has a lip at the rear of the upper that fits under the rim of the upper.
  11. It means the charger will stop when the battery is fully charged. As long as the battery is of a suitable type then yes, should work fine.
  12. Could be a bit unwieldy with the wheels bolted on but yeah.
  13. ...this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0050RGSRW/ref=s9_simh_gw_p200_d0_i4?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=07B7SKVBE2X8N3ENZYV2&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=455344027&pf_rd_i=468294 is freely available through Amazon. What the actual fudge is that all about?
  14. Just FYI - I could do that for you if you wanted....being a custom painter an' all.
  15. Dude, everyone knows that all the worlds elite paint their guns yellow now.
  16. Personally, I'd get the G&G and use a 7.4v LiPo in it. IF the original MOSFET goes pop then change it for something better (like a Gate Nano).
  17. Something I've always wondered - why is Dyslexia so hard to spell? Just seems cruel and unusual to me!
  18. I think the statement PAS have made regarding the G&G mosfet is a bit of arse covering in the light of some failures in guns using 11.1v LiPos. +1 on the NanoAB Mosfet though, I have one in my M4 with a 7.4v LiPo and (when it's working) it's fuggin' great!
  19. He had the guns out showing them to a support worker who expressed concerns about him taking them in to the college, Police were informed and they picked him up after seeing him on CCTV going to said college. He was cleared of the knife related offensive weapons charge but the only other criminal offence mentioned was modifying the guns by spraying them black (which would suggest that he didn't have a defence against the VCRA) There would have been no need to get ARU involved as they already knew they weren't real guns. Bit of a non-story that seems to have been blown a bit out of proportion in my opinion.
  20. So true. Even WITH the Elcan sight and EGLM it still looks tiny on him!
  21. Can you measure the diameter of the internal thread on your gun? If it's 11mm internal CW threaded then you can use one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/11to-14mm-Barrel-Adaptor-for-WE-Hi-capa-G17-G18C-G23-G25-G27-G34-G35-Airsoft-GBB-/191010433444?pt=UK_Sporting_Goods_Paintballing&hash=item2c791be9a4 which are usually for pistols but should do the job. Again, check the diameter of the thread first!
  22. The article doesn't specifically state what he was charged with other than this bit: Which would suggest he was charged with unlawful possession of an offensive weapon (or similar). The point is that he wasn't in court for the guns but somehow managed to get himself fined for them. The only way that could have happened as far as I am aware was that he must have been charged with modifying the guns which would only have been an offence if he had no defence against the VCRA. The main thing he seems to actually be guilty of is being a dick by waving his guns about in public, which going on the fine levied on him he has pretty much got away with.
