  1. It's £25 - what are you hoping for? If this is for your custom M4 build I'd say save a bit and get one of these: http://www.air-lab.co.uk/products/gearbox-parts/lonex-complete-gearbox-sp150-ultra-torque-for-m4-m16-series.html Of course - for that money you could just buy a whole new gun....
  2. Try the Pirate arms ones from Bullseye Country Sport. I have one and it's pretty decent. The 3x FTS magnifier I bought with it has however been consigned to the "try and make it work better" pile.
  3. A nylon polymer bodied g&g will have a perfectly fine gearbox.
  4. For the money, that's not a bad spec. Surprised you can't supply an OEM Windows licence if you're preinstalling it though. I think it would possibly struggle a bit with a game like Medieval TW2 though. The CPU is roughly equivalent to my old Core 2 Quad Q6600 performance wise and that would run it but not well. While the game does have multi CPU support it doesn't do hyperthreading and it's pretty demanding if the unit sizes are high. Now granted, I'm working at the higher end of gaming PCs (mine is more in the £1000 price range) and if most of the OPs games are relatively old then I'm sure they'll be fine. I'd just rather see a bit more horsepower in the CPU and GPU. That's not a bad little machine but it's never going to set the world alight (not that much else will at that budget).
  5. Airlab sorbo pad and piston O ring to try and sort out the M4!
  6. Shouldn't be a problem as the item value is too low.
  7. Quick word of advice - you don't HAVE to change the connectors in the gun. Mine's still running absolutely fine on the original Tamiya style ones. Deans or XT60 connectors do give you better contact but to be honest with the G&G SCAR the biggest barrier to connectivity isn't the battery connector - it's the fine gauge wiring that jumps the fold in the stock and the brass pins they use to connect through from the battery compartment to the main gun. Buy the gun, get a decent battery and enjoy it. It's a fine weapon!
  8. Right then. I have a G&G SCAR-L. It's ace. Ignore anyone that says you can fold the stock for CQB because 1) that's NOT why the stock folds and 2) it's a pain to try and use with the stock folded anyway. If you buy the CQC version the gun comes with a barrel extender to the same length as the standard rifle. This can be easily unscrewed which then gives you the CQB length gun. Simples. I run a 7.4v LiPo in mine ( this one in fact: http://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-2200mah-35c-lipo-battery.html ) and it's fine and dandy. It does NOT need a cranestock battery as the battery space is a big square block in the buttstock. The ONLY reservation I have is that it's quite easy to bend the pins the connect the main part of the gun to the battery holder, but it's easy to not fuck it up - you just need to be a bit aware of what you're doing when you fit the battery. You WILL need a downgrade spring though. When mine turned up it was shooting at the thick end of 400FPS! Get the shop to do it for you and aim to be under 340FPS as then you'll have no trouble with any of the sites you might want to use (CQB sites for example tend to be quite low on muzzle velocity). Well worth the money and a gun that will last you a decent length of time too. Good choice.
  9. That's better! Yeah, nice job. Are the new grips all new or just reworkings of the original ones?
  10. I think a little bit of sick just came out...
  11. Looks nice but without the before pics there's no way to judge the progression
  12. Nope, still takes up half the screen on my laptop. Any chance you can make the gifs smaller?
  13. Good effort but it's still way too big. If it wasn't for the epilepsy inducing gifs it might not be so bad but either way it needs to not take up half the screen.
  14. No, just a finely tuned irony detector. Too many elfs and wizards in WoW for my liking. Not enough guns. Innit.
  15. Man who dresses like a soldier to play with toy guns in the woods, taking the piss out of gamers.... Glass houses dude, glass houses.
  16. Do you think maybe that your signature is getting a bit out of hand?
  17. I have a number of friends that are cosplayers and they have the same problem. Ebay is definitel your friend here. That and Etsy (chances are someone will have already made on at some point!)
  18. Coyote works with plenty of loadouts, just depends how picky you want to be. It was picked by the US as one of their standard kit colours for a reason... As for limited choice...not so sure about that. Pantac does loads as does Flyye and of course Warrior Assault Systems. What kind of PC are you after?
  19. The internet is a wunnerful (and slightly scary) place. The vast majority of people who claim not to be able to find what they're looking for are either 1) looking for something SOOOO obscure that there's just not much info available or 2) don't know how to construct an effective search string. Trust me, it's tricker than it looks sometimes. That said, you can google how to search for stuff (ironic, I know). As far as actual sites I like for info, Wikipedia is a good starting point. As long as the article has plenty of references you can usually follow the subject off in plenty of ways and there's way more info there than people realise. Also IMFDB (International Movie Firearms Database) is pretty handy as it sets out to tell you what guns are used in what shows/films/video games. Not always a complete source but again, a very good starting point. Forums are an odd one. You not only need to find one that isn't tied to a specific retailer or manufacturer (*cough*zero one*cough*) unless you're after specific info for that manufacturer. In addition foreign forums may have plenty of info but the recommended products may not be available where you are so could be of limited use. Once you've found a good forum, stick with it. People are notoriously cliquey online so sometimes you need to put up with a bit of grief before you're "accepted". Youtube reviews are good if you want a lot of badly filmed opinions but there are some good channels out there too. A lot of tactical kit reviews from US users will be in respect of real guns and tactics so be wary of asking directly about airsoft as it can just open up a torrent of abuse. Equally steer WELL clear of making similar comments on blogs like Operator As Fuck as they will verbally eviscerate anyone that mentions the hobby! That said if you comment with respect and bear in mind that most of the OAF guys are actual serving or ex SF or PMCs there's plenty of very useful pictures of loadouts in action!
  20. Indeed - or an ICS Sportline. More to the point you can get a better gun for the budget if you stick with the more common styles.
