Ive talked about these before but cant find the post despite a search.

I bought a couple two years ago and had to use a bayonet frog to carry it from my belt.

The knives are well made and relatively inexpensive but the makers were never interested in making/selling matching sheathes for them which was a massive letdown.

Anyway, a company has started selling made to measure sheathes for your CS knife.

The price isnt that bad although its dearer than the knife and ir comes out at about £30 including despatch to the UK.

When I first started airsoft, I bought myself an assault vest.

My logic was that I didnt fully understand these new fangled plate carriers and I was dazzled by the prices and array of the ones on the market.

The assault vest was fine. It was something familiar and I had more load carrying kit that I could use in skirmishes including an integral hydration pack. I loved the full length zip which enabled me to get it on and off easily.

However, I eventually dipped my toe in the water with this invention of satan - the plate carrier.

I made the mistake of buying a cheap one to try it out.

It was a pain - uncomfortable wires sticking out, difficult to get in and out of unaided, etc.

With my involvement with milsims, I have treated myself to a better one and its night and day compared to the other one I had. Little things like having an integral radio pouch, velcro loops for radio cables, hydration tubes etc make all the difference. I also never fully appreciated what difference dummy SAPI plates make to the fit. I can also close the side panels myself once its on, without the use of mirrors or team mates.

    My point ?

I guess Im musing on how, its all a bit of a learning curve. You dont want to lash out on the expensive wrong kit, but sometimes buying cheap in ignorance also means you end up buying twice !

You are probably better googling the main airsoft retailers to see which SCARs you can afford for your £300 budget then reading through some of the review posts on here to see the pros and cons. Few of us have SCARs but we naturally think the one we have is the best lol !

IMHO a lot of it is laziness. A lot of the enquiries are from youngsters.
We live in a spoon fed, wheres there's a blame, theres a claim society.

However, why should they google when there are lots of idiots (including myself) who will answer all the questions why they use their time more productively. Also a minority are attention seeking youngsters.

Not every enquirer is like that, but many are.

A common one I see used on Facebook groups is "my google fu is weak" - yeah right.

I also remember starting airsoft and did a lot of reading first. I still ask questions, but try to find out the answer myself or at least narrow things down. Sonetimes social media is excellent to just weight the options or give you the last piece of the jigsaw.

My pet hate are what I call depth chargers, They pose an open question like "which is the best gun for £500" which gets people answering with the numerous possibilities then they never come back to the forum to read the answers or reply to any of it.

Bottom line is you wont stop them asking lazy questions - its up to you whether you give your time, which is just as valuable as theirs, to answer.

If people put a little effort into their search, people will be more inclined to produce more helpful answers.

Now, which gun is best ?

If youre 28, my advice is not to rush into anything. Do three games, get your UKARA defence sorted so you dont need a two tone and by then you will know more about what you want. Theres no point saying you dont want a toy gun if you are going to run round with a bright coloured one.

My son bought one because he was on a budget and I thought oh-oh plastic version of a metal M4, but actually I was quite surprised at the quality and had to tap the upper receiver to confirm it wasnt metal.

Personally, I like metal rifles to be metal and correspond in heft and I have the Top Tech version but its a price/budget compromise.

I also find the version he has is a bit short for me - it doesnt quite sit right in my long reach, which is why I would advocate trying one in person.

In my still limited experience of toy guns, I find that many people who go in to a retailer to buy one rifle end up coming out with something else in the black plastic wrap.

Ive had other smaller stuff delivered this week like a fore grip etc but that comes as a letter in a jiffy bag with the ordinary postman.
I wonder if there is a different routing in RM for parcels which normally is a separate van delivery to me and they are vetting contents.

    RM define restricted goods as:

    QUOTE

Guns intended for sporting purposes - including Section 1 (e.g. hunting rifles) and Section 2 (e.g. shotguns) firearms, low-powered air weapons and their component parts - may be sent in compliance with UK law and subject to domestic controls on the possession of firearms. Antiques, deactivated and imitation firearms are also permitted. When sending deactivated firearms include proof of deactivation.
Items that appear to be prohibited weapons may be subject to additional checks and delays. Please see www.royalmail.com/prohibitedgoods/business

Use 1st Class as the minimum service. The senders name and address must be clearly visible on the outer packaging.

    UNQUOTE

I wonder if they are interpreting component parts a little too enthusiatically ?

It only needs some pencilneck to draft an email to all staff and it gives people an excuse to do even less work. "Computer says no" syndrome.

They are the same in range as all PMR446 radios but the Motorolas are better built than most.
Probably a few hundred metres in woodland. OK for teams in a firefight or moving together in a patrol.

Its preferable to have a rotary volume knob so you can adjust it in a pouch without being able to see it.

The 80 model has this where the 60 doesnt. I have the 80 model and its a nice radio. You dont need all the fancy functions really.

They use a Motorola single pin connector and most headsets are available with this connection.

I think its a fallacy to say that it would give you an edge in a skirmish. A lot of twaddle is often talked about this.

Did they say how the Bolt would give you an edge ?

IMHO As long as youve got a half decent rifle and I would say both makes you mention are, its down to you and the weight of the ammo.

OK I lie - you need upgrades and more upgrades lol

Sorry about your trouble, Ive never heard of any of these companies.
I dont know what amount of money you spent, but its always worth checking retailers out on here.
Collectively, we've probably dealt with most of them.

We all get caught out occasionally. I guess its a consequence of buying online although Paypal are usually quite good.

I bought a decent bipod from a supplier of outdoor and rifle stuff. When I asked if they had sent it yet, they immediately said it should have been with me by now and offered to refund.
My suspicions were triggered. On checking they claimed it was despatched by first class post instead of a trackable courier and blamed human error.
They said they will refund me and asked that I let them know if it ever turns up. As its a Paypal pay once its delivered type transaction, Im waiting to see if the bipod turns up or Paypal try to debit my bank account. For some reason, I have a sneaky suspicion that they found they were out of stock and its some kind of cover up - we will see.

They are a long established Paypal trader with in excess of 99.6% feedback so maybe Im just cynical.

    Its a common problem.

Some sites are better than others in that some dont care too much or have favourite cliques which can do no wrong.

Without naming names, Ive seen some sites come down very hard with schoolboy talkings to and marshals shooting suspects anonymously to see if the accused really are guilty.

The only way to do something about it is to vote with your feet. If you experience it, complain to the organisers.

If it doesnt get sorted in a reasonable time frame, play somewhere else.

Ive been searching for military style lower masks as a lot of the masks on the airsoft market dont look very mil.

I have quite a collection of different solutions and one of my favourites is a quad bike dust mask.

Its hard to visualise the end product of your project but it looks like its going the right way. If the material is a permanent fixture, it might be a bit hot in the warmer weather.

Suggest you check to make sure your exhaling breath doesnt fog your ballistics. I presume your use of perforated foam is designed to stop that ?
