  1. I have quite a lot of experience of airsoft related Facebook. Although the larger buying and selling groups have a lot of trolling, I dont think its any worse than forums. Its just proportional to activity and unfortunately I must say that there is a lot more airsoft related activity on Facebook than there is on the various airsoft web based forums. Also, the speciality groups like Josh's are pretty sensible - you generally find that the admins are a lot hotter and quicker on these smaller FB groups. Its no big deal having a FB account. You put as much or as little personal stuff on there as you wish. You can lock down your security settings as well.
  2. Seems a sensible approach. If you have observed the community through social media you will see that the community is like any other - a mixed bag. Best to go play a game, rent gear and observe first hand. That way, you arent committing much.
  3. As an example of democracy in action, in the wash and brush up following the last game, we decided that a lot of "dead" players were confusing the surviving players by laying there watching the action. We decided to utilise kill rags for the next game. These have now been sourced by the organisers and will be handed out at the next game in April.
  4. The organisers have floated a second tranche of places for the upcoming April game. They have added a limited number of weekend places to the MDF government side. The game numbers are already double what they were in the last milsim game in September.

  6. Theyre very slow. Takes ages for the order to be processed.
  7. I have the G&G too. One of my favourite rifles and Ive added lots of furniture to it to make it look better. There are a few threads on this rifle from previous similar discussions. Have a browse.
  8. Bit late to the party I know. However, accidently stumbled on some historical stuff about where AWA is situated and it turns out that it is located on the old RAF Sawbridgeworth site. Have done some dredging and posted some photos and information up on the Okto Eight Milsim group on Facebook. Probably of little interest unless you know AWA or have played there.
  9. There are lots of Airsoft online shops selling G&G rifles. Sometimes its good to buy locally for a few quid extra as you can go back to them if there are any problems. Pistols are of questionable use in a game but if you just want one, then have a look at the WE range or the TOKYO MARUI, the latter being better, dearer but plastic.
  10. Really enjoying DCS World. Looking forward to some more aircraft in 2015.
  11. I had a leaky mag on my Beretta PX4 after it fell from the car seat into the footwell. I bought another new one and also took the leaky one apart, resealing it. Ive noticed that the new one has trouble leaving the slide back when empty whereas the repaired one doesnt. Could it be something to do with gas temperature ? The only difference I can think of could be the fact that one was refilled with fresh gas coming from the cold shed ?
  12. The OPFOR have produced their own Russian MANPAD to deny the government air superiority.
  13. The flags and signage are in. Just one space left now on the MDF.
  14. I bought my last rifle from them. Good shop and very helpful. Cant be bothered with shops that think they are doing you a favour selling to you. Lifes too short to put up with bad customer service,
  15. Welcome from another Essex airsofter
  16. I didn't know about the Mall - never played there - never likely to. The OP has got her present so problem sorted. Out of interest, Ive got one of the knives linked to. Of course, they are bendy plastic not rubber. The silly thing is that you would struggle to hurt anybody with a Cold Steel knife, You would break a rib or give them blunt instrument trauma before penetrating the skin. Have you actually seen one close up ? The above linked knives have a nasty point on them, Could do a lot more damage if you held the blade rather than the hilt. They also never look straight because the blade plastic is bendy along its length.
  17. News to me. The three I have are blunt and broad edged. About as dangerous as a piece of 2x4. Most sites say you can only tap with the flat edge any way.
  18. There appears to be a lot of marketing hype around these products, mainly that it gives better power in cold conditions. In my experience, life is a compromise. There has to be a con to every pro. Its more expensive of course, but I think I will reserve judgement until its seen a winter and a summer with higher temps. They say its for a temp range up to. 20 degrees. Does this mean we have to use another gas in the summer ?
  19. It always seems a bit strange to me that we use an inflammable gas like Propane to power our gas guns but its not ignited to do its job of propelling little round plastic balls. Do we really need a flammable gas as propellant ? We already use CO2 - why isnt compressed air used more commonly ?
  20. Presumably the increase in FPS is only half of the story. What additional stress does it put on the gun and what is the long term effect on the casing, particularly when the warmer months return ?
