  1. i am going to be DD'ing my a1, mainly for ergonomic reasons, as i don't get wrist ache with a vertical forgrip, plus it also adds rail space for tac lights etc
  2. G&G also do the A1 The army L85 is supposed to be a clone of the G&G L85. I have just got a complete army gearbox assembly (was only £60 brand new), for a spare ... that said i had to spend an hour getting the trigger contacts right (the was bent over one way, then just needed setting up, maybe a bad set of contacts ) but it fitted in my G&G L85, so while i wait for a different spring again (i dont know why my G&G keeps going over my sites FPS limit ), i am going to be running with the army gearbox
  3. at a guess it would be confiscated ... that said i do remember a few years a guy who was making love to his wife earlier, managed to "subdue" the burglar with his gentleman sausage ... the burglar though the thing poking him in the back was a "loaded weapon"
  4. hmmm never had any issues with LAC myself, that said i haven't been in a while.
  5. is it a standard gun or has it had the v2/3 conversion? it could be the anti reverse spring in the gear box, that may have broken or it may have become disconnected in some way to be honest its a pretty easy strip down job if it is, there are some video's on you-tube. I am/was in a similar place a while ago with my g&g L85, i bought a none fire'er, which turned out to be trigger contacts, but i did a re-shim/grease job on my gear box, with new piston/piston head etc, sweet as a nut and silent as hell now just fitted the latest flash hider, and hopefully getting DD rails for xmas to bring mine up to the latest spec (minus the acog, as i prefare the current scope i have on mine, see the L85 thread) edit:- i should also add that mine had a madbull barrel which was causing no end of issues(when i got it running), such as cracked bb's etc, so i got hold of a new G&G barrel and hop
  6. 2 good site to check out:- slaughter house airsoft (just outside of hull, CQB, semi auto only) Linconshire airsoft (lots of sites)
  7. try the original barrel with the new rubber
  8. have you tried swapping the barrel back to the original one? There *could* be a defect in the new one
  9. Very good easily on par with more eexpensiveguns
  10. sorry i forgot to update this, got the part i ordered Seems ok to me, had the now rare bit i was after
  11. yeah this is very true, but the lack of rail space puts me off ... that said full metal and wood .... i couldn't skirmish that ... too nice
  12. +1 on the combat machine. (i have one great gun) that said consider a cyma CM028, yeah they may be old ... but i am mega impressed with mine
  13. the army L85 is a G&G clone, i bought a G&G 2nd hand so i have a little experience. From what i know, there is 2 issues with the gun. 1)The first one is caused by the PSG1 piston/cylinder, if yours has one, it may be shooting wayy over 350fps, and from my experience it was a bugger to get below 350 for me. There is ways round this, you could do the conversion, whereby you swap the sector gear for a v2/3 item, fit a standard piston with a 10mm spacer between the piston and the piston head and a standard AEG spring. doing this you will lose the pre-cocking though, unless you keep the old sector gear and remove the first 2 teeth off it. my gun had a really bad conversion done, so i re-built my gun. that said i have a new complete gear box on order (see below), as i want to try out the pre-cocking etc. 2) the blow back function. This will at some point break, as how it works is by having plastic prongs going into the spring, and attaching to the fake bolt. most people just disable it, as if it breaks .... well there are 1 or 2 horror stories about jammed and stripped pistons. now the good news ... the gear box is really good and strong, it has a spring release leaver that releases the anti reverse latch, and it has a quick change top end facility (so you could swap the top end for different FPS sites etc). but best of all, you can get a whole new gear box off ebay for less then £60! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-L85-R85-Gearbox-for-G-G-L85-AFV-L85A2-ARMY-R85-R85A1-Airsoft-AEG-/201203795357?pt=UK_Sporting_Goods_Paintballing&hash=item2ed8ae459d Don't let this put you off though, as there isn't a perfect L85 out there, they all have there issues. Ares have had a bad reputation for gears being made out of pressed cheese. Avoid STAR as they apparently have plastic gear boxes. ICS can have feed issues (a mate off mine had this with his brand new gun, soo much that he took it back), and at some point may strip its piston (see airsoft Ed's review).
  14. you could always just get a G&G part, direct from G&G, there pretty cheap when i ordered a new barrel for my L85 (i was replacing a after market TBB), and they offered me a large selection to choose from (widths lengths and finishes etc)
  15. i have a thing for old pulteney, straight ... but if i am honest i am drinking Russian standard vodka these days, 50/50 with water (zero hangover usually) i do like a captains Morgans spiced ... with any thing
  16. quick way to find your ohshiboom ... reflective tape (i did this when i first got my original ohshiboom ... just thought i would put a pic up with it on my new one) (edit should mention that its not very reflective in normal light, but shine a torch at it )
  17. Guess i am going to go against the grain then i have one of these >> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321355961726?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT on both my G&G CM16, and my G&G L85 i love it, great for spotting enemy of ID'ing friends etc, if you have a good gun, and you zero the scope you *can* snipe with it (but don't expect it to be 100% ). it all depends what you are used too, for instance i used to have an air rifle, and did some range target shooting, and thus the thought of not having a magnified sight on my rifles was very very odd to me. That said my CYMA AK has a 556 sight on it
  18. i have to thank Ed at ohshiboom for the patch top guy really really helpful, cannot recommend them enough a nineball Mk23 socom 20mm rail adapter ... now to find a nice torch
  19. a few more components, for my next (sneaky) project :- MAX7219 Dot Matrix Module MCU LED Display 2pcs DC 9V Battery button power plug Reed sensor module Dupont Line 20CM Active Buzzer Sensor Angle/Tilt Sensor
  20. updated! added info about fitting a normal silencer instead of the standard silencer (as the standard silencer is a barrel extension and increases fps from 350 to 400!!)
