yeah this is very true, but the lack of rail space puts me off ... that said full metal and wood .... i couldn't skirmish that ... too nice

+1 on the combat machine. (i have one great gun) that said consider a cyma CM028, yeah they may be old ... but i am mega impressed with mine

the army L85 is a G&G clone, i bought a G&G 2nd hand so i have a little experience. From what i know, there is 2 issues with the gun. 1)The first one is caused by the PSG1 piston/cylinder, if yours has one, it may be shooting wayy over 350fps, and from my experience it was a bugger to get below 350 for me. There is ways round this, you could do the conversion, whereby you swap the sector gear for a v2/3 item, fit a standard piston with a 10mm spacer between the piston and the piston head and a standard AEG spring. doing this you will lose the pre-cocking though, unless you keep the old sector gear and remove the first 2 teeth off it. my gun had a really bad conversion done, so i re-built my gun. that said i have a new complete gear box on order (see below), as i want to try out the pre-cocking etc. 2) the blow back function. This will at some point break, as how it works is by having plastic prongs going into the spring, and attaching to the fake bolt. most people just disable it, as if it breaks .... well there are 1 or 2 horror stories about jammed and stripped pistons. now the good news ... the gear box is really good and strong, it has a spring release leaver that releases the anti reverse latch, and it has a quick change top end facility (so you could swap the top end for different FPS sites etc). but best of all, you can get a whole new gear box off ebay for less then £60! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-L85-R85-Gearbox-for-G-G-L85-AFV-L85A2-ARMY-R85-R85A1-Airsoft-AEG-/201203795357?pt=UK_Sporting_Goods_Paintballing&hash=item2ed8ae459d Don't let this put you off though, as there isn't a perfect L85 out there, they all have there issues. Ares have had a bad reputation for gears being made out of pressed cheese. Avoid STAR as they apparently have plastic gear boxes. ICS can have feed issues (a mate off mine had this with his brand new gun, soo much that he took it back), and at some point may strip its piston (see airsoft Ed's review).

you could always just get a G&G part, direct from G&G, there pretty cheap when i ordered a new barrel for my L85 (i was replacing a after market TBB), and they offered me a large selection to choose from (widths lengths and finishes etc)

i have a thing for old pulteney, straight ... but if i am honest i am drinking Russian standard vodka these days, 50/50 with water (zero hangover usually) i do like a captains Morgans spiced ... with any thing

quick way to find your ohshiboom ... reflective tape (i did this when i first got my original ohshiboom ... just thought i would put a pic up with it on my new one) (edit should mention that its not very reflective in normal light, but shine a torch at it )

That said my CYMA AK has a 556 sight on it

its only a springer, due to the length its kinda like a short pump action shottie that said i would love a kwa gas "robocop" gun

1) i like guarder springs myself, a sp100 should see 350fps with 0.2's (think i put up a chart somewhere that said what you *might* for a particular spring etc) 2) - i cannot answer this as i despise tight bore barrels (the one that my 2nd hand G&G L85 had in it did nothing but cause problems imho, swapped it and the hop for standard items ... huge range and no problems) .... there is a reason why TM ship there VSR's with 6.08 barrels (note admittedly you will see a minor FPS upgrade with a TTB) 3) this is a personel choice thing ... thought imho note-able hop rubbers are G&G and TM

back in the "old" days (20 years ago) me and my brother used to have an ongoing bb gun arms race. i don't recall my first gun, but i did have mainly springers (i think they may have been tamyia or TM), P226, "robocop gun", spas 12 (the one with a 60rd mag in the cartridge tube, either single shot or tri-shot), then a gas NBB D-eagle .... then finally back in 1998 i bought my TM MP5K Kurz i still have them but when i did get into airsoft (over 2 years ago now) ... G&G CM16 DST

one thing that drives me nuts about some websites is postage .... if something fits in an envelope (and is carry-able by royal mail, say a hop rubber) i do not expect to pay the same as a shuttle launch!!

Yeah that would be a nice mod to have. If you wanted a pre-engauge all i suspect (i may be wrong here) you would need is the sector gear, then just remove 2 teeth (as the G&G/Army has a 19 tooth "psg-1" piston, insted of the 16 tooth pistons in most v2/3 gearboxes) ... an interesting mod

i don't think so (but i may be wrong here), as its all done by the sector gear in this gearbox. also please note this gearbox has a mechanism to release the anti-reverse latch, that is used to release tension on the piston/spring

spare "complete l85 gearbox" off ebay £58 (nothing wrong with my l85 gearbox, but i want too see what the pre-engauge/pre-cocking is like, and a spare would be nice )

i use black hawk neoprene knee pads, really nice and comfy, there the soft knee pads with out the hard plastic outer, had them for over a year now. Never had them fall down, but 1 has fallen off when i put it on wrong.
