i have a tippmann Performance - an out of the box TM will be better, unfortunately the tippmann suffers with a crap hop design. that said it can be made good, i currently have some 3d printed nubs from shapeways. also out of the box you will have to set its ROF, some peoples gun really struggle with this, but if all else fails clean it! then it usually sets ok. Don't expect massive ROF, you are going to get 10 - 18 max, most people get 12bb's/sec, which isn't a game breaker in my view. once you get The hop sorted and your FPS dialed in, range should be comparable to most guns out there. Air cylinder - I suffer with back pain at times, i find its a nice counter balance, and to be honest there not that big the 48ci ones (0.8L) that said the tank can soak up a bb hit meaning you may take a hit but wont know about it etc, that said a plate carrier can do the same. Parts and service - Atm the spares kit you can buy is the easiest to get hold off, that said the tippmann dose come with some spares. though atm long term test are looking very favorable, with some sites swapping there rental guns for tippmanns. as for service, they are really easy to work on loads of video's on youtube etc. Down sides vrs AEG's - it can and it will shake any accessory to bits they do have a looooovly kick the only other one i can think off is having to have you air tank refilled How long dose the tank last - thats a player/site specific thing, do you spray and pray, or semi all the way??? According to tippmann around the 3000-4000 bb's per 48ci 3000psi tank. i tend to get mine refilled after every game (usually around £3 from dive shops) Do skirmish sites have any issues with running tippmanns? - No but you will need to get hold of a "tournament locking pin", it replaced the rear locking pin and allows a tire-wrap to be put through the hole to show that you gun hasn't been apart etc, there usually around the £12 mark. Another excellent source of info is the "tippmann airsoft owners group" on facebook. I hope this answers your questions .

almost forgot, when i first started i had a pair of those cheap perforated mesh glasses/goggles. i took a hit from almost point blank range to my eye. Needless to say the bb shattered and a small fragment (1mm long by 0.5mm wide) made it onto my eye. luckily it was the end of game, and when i got home, using a cotton bud i managed to get it out. lesson learned - always wear good eye Pro!!!

Yeah Ian was fine, he is still convinced he was only down for a second or too. There was others near him, they thought he ducked into a pen for cover etc, but couldn't see him.

my first CQB game, i cut my hand and ended up with a nice bit of wood sticking out - i wear gloves now but i am always banging my head into low hanging stuff. worst i have seen is from a mates go pro, he forgot to duck when running along and hit his head on a beam, ended up on his back, he thought he was only down for a sec or 2 ... later footage revealed he was down for 20+ secs see 1:52 for the head strike etc https://youtu.be/5uancY8XMdI

this is incredibly generic first and foremost you need to establish internal or external 1)internal mods are the ones you cannot see that effects how your weapon works 2)external mods affect how you interface with your weapon, ergonomics and cosmetics Then comes role :- 1)assault 2)support 3)sniper 4)other Then comes method of delivery :- 1)electric 2)gas 3)spring 4)HPA (though you could argue that it comes under gas) then finally comes weapon type 1)pistol 2)rifle 3)LMG 4)other so whats the best upgrade of them all ...... knowledge go play a few games, have fun try a few play styles ... see what floats your boat EDIT:- the way i treat mods is :- 1)try the gun, identify its strengths and weaknesses 2)form a plan as to what is most important to you (i always choose ergonomics first, no point being uncomfortable etc, then user friendly etc) 3)research, see what can/cannot be done, see what others have done etc 4)consider buying the gun ... or alternatives etc for example, i knew every little issue i could find out before i bought my tippmann, i joined every face book group, read every review i could etc etc, now i have got everything i need now to sort its hop issue (its not bad atm, i just want to make it better), i just need to try/test/adjust etc as for the exterior, that's sorted with my own style rail covers, a foregrip, and a raised 556 sight. The best mods i have ever fitted are :- 1)better bb's!!! (eg. 0.2's are good, 0.25's are better ) 2)foregrip (relieves wrist pain) 3)holosight or any sight (much better then iron sights) 4)RIS covers (it protects you rails/gun)

so a while ago i bought myself a COD;ghosts camera, which is nice .... but there is no RIS mount look what i have just designed

part 1 of my "bomb" prop build nootropic design defuseable clock. its only the V1 board but i have already found a way to hack an extra output onto it for a siren and/or maroon its going inside an old MOD mortar case and i am looking at doing 3d printed internals, and some lights controlled by an arduino .... just thinking about some sort of sound mod too

You do realise that the average p* gun costs its owner around the £1k mark. Unfortunately It's never as simple as getting the base rifle and sticking a fusion engine in there.
